Title: transplanting cities...?

Hi,
is it possible to transplant an existing city tile from one region to another? I've tried doing so by naming a tile in the new region to identify it, then copying my city from the old region and giving it this same name (and removing the other one), without success (it comes up as blank terrain)

<EDIT> I've just found the city, off somewhere completely unexpected. Where I had intended it to go became a blank square, while meanwhile off in the NW corner of my region, my city appeared ()what()

Usually, it should be sufficient to make a copy of the city file, and place it in the "Downloads" folder inside your region folder. Then select the city that you want to replace with your existing city, click on "import" and navigate to the "Downloads" folder.

You can do this completely in game. No moving files or anything

Just click on the tile you want to import the city to, once. Then in the popup click on the icon which is a computer with an arrow pointing down towards it. Then like a popup will appear which has a tree of all you cities and just browse to the city you want to move into that slot.

I haven't checked it just now, but as I recall the "import" function is a distructive read.. so exercise CAUTION.. the city you chose to import will  no longer be available to the region you took it FROM. For that reason I use the "copy to 'downloads'" method.. you'll never have a problem that way.

I've had some problems with this in the past.  Doesn't importing / exporting a city can mess up your regional demand numbers?  The few times I've tried this, my census data became immediately unreliable.

It does indeed cause a discontinuity in Regional number of all sorts. The degree to which this is a problem will probably depend on the numbers you originally had and the new city. With time I would expect these to re-balance as you cycle through your cities and run the simulator, but I don't know that for certain. It may be that there will be some permanent discontinuity to some degree.

Yes, this is definitely true.  It's basically a "move" command.
