Title: avenue and farms (pics inside)
Post by: slimbox on June 02, 2010, 10:10:10 PM
Am I wrong or is this not supposed to happen?

I wasn't having this problem before but, now every time I extend the avenue down towards the farms huge sections of the avenue turn into dirt medians and the sidewalks disappear.
this happened after I had installed NAM and/or possibly the NWM.  I've also noticed that large sections avenue change wealth from time to time causes the game and game clock to lag.

I've uninstalled: el rail facelift mod, NWM, RHW, HSR, and pretty much everyplugin except the NAM.  and now even without the NAM if I zone agriculture they override any sidewalks

1st image is what it should look like.
2nd image is what happens.

hope somebody can help

Hmm, interesting that the I-Ag zone is more powerful than the C$$ zones down the road. You could try putting parks at the intersections to see if that puts sidewalks on the roads. It might, however, result in pristine sidewalks all the way down the farm zones, I'm not sure.

It's supposed to do that and it's always done that even without plugins. The reason it turns to dirt is because more tiles are next to the farms than any other type of zoning (COM, RES, and including civics like that convention center and plaza).

That's true, but look, only Ave turns to dirt all the way down the road, the streets and roads all lose their sidewalks between the farm and the city, and get appropriate ones for the zone type down the road.

Maybe you could try putting some one-way road to join up the seperate bits of Ave, then they'd join up, but lose the dirt.

That's pretty normal for the Maxis Avenues. Replacing a few tiles of them with one-way roads will do the trick though ;)

That's what I do as well, esp. if I want to extend an avenue into undeveloped areas. Just leave a small gap in the avenue and connect the lanes with one-way roads again. The transition will be nearly invisible, and any texture caused by zoning will stop at the transition.

What I did is rem the zone one tile of the ave along the way by the farms, and then back to the normal ave it was...  than i only use a small drive street to tie in the farm.  so it's up to the farmer to get to the street on his farm,..lol...
