Simple question that I couldn't find an answer to. How big is one square in the game? Was wondering that this morning when I was heading home from PT how many grid squares made up a mile and that's when I realized I didn't know how big a single square was.
well a: they are measured in metres not miles
each tiles square is 16x16 metres, each city size is such 64x64 squares for a small city or 1024x1024m, med city size is 128x128 squares or 2048x2048m, and a large city is 256x256 squares or 4096x4096m
1 mile = 1,609.344 metres or 1 metre = 0.0006213712 miles
grab a calculator
Thanks for the answer! I honestly had no idea that the small cities were so small... not even a mile!
Only the city centre of Milano in Italy is about 3.5x3 km!
The Milan territory is about 13 x 16 km! But Milan have only 1.200.000 inhabitants!!!
My home city is about 5km x 5km and has 120 000 inhabitants. And we Dutch even build quite dense, so you see that SimCity cities are quite underscaled.
Yes, but it's difficult to build up a big city!
To understand, my home town (Varese http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varese_(stad) (http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varese_(stad))) is about 80.000 inhabitants but it coveres an area of about 54 square kms!
My hometown covers 3200 square kilometers... has 340+ lakes... and only a population of 158,000. :)
