Title: NAM install help?
Post by: daryl7478 on June 22, 2010, 01:19:47 PM
I have installed the NAM numerous times (3 or so) but it doesn't appear in my game. Any help? I have Winzip. This also goes for other files.

Hi daryl,

which directory did you install those file into? It should be the "My Documents\SimCity4\Plugins"

Do you see the files in your plugin folder?  If so, do you have Rush Hour/Delux?

NAM should come as an installer and when you run it you will get options for what you what NAM to do.  If you have a compressed file either extract it and run the installer, or download NAM from the LEX.  There are many options (less with the May '10 update) that you would want to choose yourself.  For that reason I wouldn't reccomend using a file that, when extracted, just gives you a bunch of smaller files to sort through.

I hope this helps, and that your problem isn't related to your SC4 install or hardware.

We would have to know more though.  Do other plugins work?

One of the easiest ways to set up your Nam files is to on the first attempt is to install it completely in a secondary temp file in your my documents section, can name it just about anything, This will give you tha ability to look over all the NAM files and the readme without affecting your game

As there are many new and optional parts of the NAM.  Some of the files if your not going to use them you might not install in your game, so to keep your plugins folder tidy and lower the over all plugins count. eg GLR or new custom bridges, if your not going to be using either of these you can skip installing them.

One of the main problems most entounter is when installing everything the first time they install conflicting files as some parts of the NAM you either choose 1 file over another to play your game, eg traffic pluggin files there about 10 differnt ones, you only use 1 of them in your game or RHD or LHD pluggins you only choose 1 depending on which side of the road you would like the cars to drive on i your game.

It takes a bit of time and sometimes you have to do a bit of reading, but in the long run taking the time will aviod a lot of headaches in the future.
