I've made a few buildings by now and I've lost a few buildings by now, but yesterday, after, by compound objects - connect, I've conected some pieces to make the whole roof structure one, and saved it, and when I tried to reopen it, it says:
In file:'..\.. \maxsdk\include\tab.h'
Line: 117
The application will now close...
And I've lost a few buildings by now because of this, but theye were small one-two hour projects, but this one took me a whole day, so I'm asking for help. What can I do to get my gmax scene to load?
Have you tried reinstalling gmax? It looks like some script went corrupt.
Yep, just uninstalled it, installed it again, but it still displays the same message... :'(
This is terrible. I've searched google on Assertion Failed problem in gmax, but it didn't provide any answers. And now, all of my scenes are corrupted, even the new ones and it doesn't open neither one of them. I've tried uninstalling, installing again 7 times by now. Nothing seems to work...Don't know what to do. ()sad()
Maybe this will help or not

Hi s_olah :)
I've never had that specific error. But let me ask a couple of questions so that I have a better understanding.
Can you open gmax at all? Can you start a new project using simple shapes? Can you apply basic textures to those simple shapes? And save without getting the error?
Once in a while gmax will corrupt a building I'm doing. Not very often - but it usually happens during the save process. I can usually recover by starting a new project then merging the building from the 'autoback' folder. The merge process often (9 out of 10) clears the problem shape or poly that is giving your bat grief.
I've also learned (the hard way) through experience to save more often the further along I get. Because sometimes the merge will not 'bring a corrupted building' back to life.
One other thing I've noticed (at least on my compter) is that gmax does not like it when I convert a complicated shape into an editable poly. I was doing a series of R$ homes. I had a television antenna on the roof made of individual elements. So I grouped them together and made them into a single editable poly. Mistake. Gmax crashed to desktop time and again. And just to make sure? I tried to do it a second time with the same result. I do convert shapes to editable poly's often but I usually think to myself "is this necessary" before hand.
Good Luck with your bat.

Yes, I can open gmax, I can start a new project, can apply textures to them, but after one or two saves it doesn't open it anymore, and displays that message...
I don't convert anything into editable poly's. The problem usually occurs when I connect or boolean two pieces using the Compound objects menu.
That's when all the troubles begin. And I do save often, but even though, after I save it one time like Objects.no.1 and then after 10 minutes as Object.no.2 and gmax crashes after that, when I load Objects.no.2 it doesn't even open he first one. It's really confusing, and I've had all the time today to make something new, but got so mad after loosing the same, redone scene all over again, I'm thinking on giving it up all in one.
