Title: How do I get appropriate textures on roads next to plopped buildings?
Post by: littlewhitebutterfly on July 04, 2010, 02:03:44 AM
This is a vital issue to me as I most often use the extra cheats. So when I plop a building the texture of nearby road/street gets low density. Is there a way to avoid that, so to keep for example a nice sidewalk in commercial areas? I know there's the uni-density mod, but I don't want to get rid of all low-density transit textures, I'd just like to plop a building and still get the appropriate texture. Is this possible? Many thanks in advance for your attention.

Textures change according to the density and type of the lots. Mod the lot maybe?

Hi Cogeo, thanks for replying, in fact I noticed that the texture gets low-density no matter the wealth or density of the plopped building.  &mmm

Density has nothing to do with it, it's property value.  Density will effect T21's however.

The zone density affects the texture too. Drag a street section and zone low-density R along a few tiles, and medium density some tiles away. The low-density part has a grass stripe along the street.

Right, that's just that grass stripe that annoys me when I plop buildings in city centers or industrial areas. How come plopped buildings trigger that, and what I need to mod?

Ploppables do not have a "density", so they don't really set the texture type (as far as the density is concerned). Plopping any building facing a street or road forces the game to apply a sidewalk texture, and having "no data" about the density, it applies the low-density texture. It seems that using the extra cheats plop, makes the game regarding your lot as a "ploppable" (civic?), no matter what the original (growable) building is.

If you want the medium density textures to appear, you have to zone medium (at least) density zones, opposite to your (plopped) bulding (zones do specify the texture density level). Your plopped building can affect the textures' wealth though (the higher wealth type texture is chosen).
