Hope I am posting to the right forum. How do I stop a street add on mod from overlaying the texture? Right now, I use a 1 tile piece of road to section off say red brick roads and maxis street.
Yes, that's the only way to do it (at least at the moment). Separate different SAM styles with road, oneway-road or avenues, any road network that isn't street will do the trick.
cool, if u use a tiny one tile road with street on both sides, it looks kind of like a speed bump

or a cross walk ... is not so bad
You could try the SAM Stopper (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=19762).
yay!
Well, you can use those lots, but using TE lots has certain disadvantages, like blocking access to the adjacent tiles and such. TE lots are meant for transit switch purposes, so better try to limit the usage to a minimum.
not a big deal, good excuse to use more 1x1 parks
I don't see why puzzle piece stoppers are impossible. For the time being, I thought that if you leave the starter piece behind as soon as you plop, and you reclick on the a tile opposite the starter piece, if that side does not stretch too long, the SAM texture then turns back to the grey color, because the draggable overide does not face the opposite direction, its just your stuck with the bright tile, but then again, at least you should be able to build off it, and not be concerned about the lot in the way.
Stopping a SAM street is easy enough with the SAM stopper. What I want is an easy way to turn an already-built SAM section into Maxis street.
