Title: How to remove Trillion budget cheat?
Post by: Jerommeke1701 on August 30, 2010, 12:35:42 AM
I have a bit of an odd situation:

I haven't played the game in a while (about 2 years) and recently reinstalled it on a new system
I did all the necessary to make the game run correctly on a multicore windows 7 system and it is running without crashing (yay!)  ;D
I also installed the DAMN and SSPT Tool for DAMN to allow me to select my ploppable building more easily (Excellent Tools by the way and all credit to the creators!)

However, Each new city automatically starts with a budget of a Trillion Simoleans.

I like to grow my cities as realistically as possible, so having such a huge budget really bugs me. :(
I know about the budget reset command, but preferably, I don't want to do this every time I start a city.

Did I inadvertently load a plug-in that causes this? %confuso
If so, which one? I have searched my entire plug-in folder an I can't pinpoint which plug-in would cause this

Thanks for your response

by the sounds of it you have Ralphieninja's old Simoleon cheat  mod in your game or one similiar to it. Most of these came out about just after Rush Hour was released when there was no money tree lots.

I would check any .dat file that has Simleon in it in your plugins folder. If it's Ralphies's modd it will actually be "SimoleonRH.dat". Removing this file will return your game to original start up money.

If it isn't that, your going to have to go through your plugins manually, start by seperating any buildings and or other lots from the mods you have in your game and go through the mods individually.

If you can not find the plugin, you could perhaps make your own.  Do you know your way around Ilives Reader?  The initial funds info is moddable.  The process is somewhat complicated to describe, but I would be happy to help if you want.  You could even set the starting funds to something like $500.

he could that way Lowkee, but he still has the problem of not knowing which file is modding his game.

Having 2 or mods in your plugins folder that affect the same thing sometimes can cause issues sometimes, game is buggie enough without conflicting mods issues.  If  does not place the new mod in a way so it loads afterwards of the trillion $ one , the old mod will still be the one used or, later on if he re-arranges his plugins folder and the old mod loads afterwards the old trillion money problem is back.

Best to find and isolate the mod doing this, mainly to aviod possible CTD issues or the reaccurance of the problem later.

One question, have you used the Datpacker on your files,
this could mask the actual name of the file in a larger file if you used it.

Indisguise:

I checked for RalphaelNinja's mod, but I don't have that in my plugin folder.
Also, I don't have datpacker installed (tried that before a few years back, but it screwed up my tilesets)

On your suggestion I searched the plugin folder fo anything containing the word "simoleon", but couldn't find anything.

I do have two "click for cash" parks in existing cities, but these do not affect the budget, it only happens when starting new cities:

The odd thing is: I haven't done anything to my plugin folder of two years ago except for adding DAMN menus.
Since I didn't have this behaviour before (on an XP system) then why would it do this now (on a Windows 7 system)

But you did make me think of one thing that I'm going to test:

My old harrdrive with plugins was added to my new system as backup disk.
There is a small chance it got confused by the two plugin folders (although all my file routing was set up towards the one folder).
I''m going to test if this casued the odd behaviour.

I'll let you know

There is a link in my sig to a method of finding offending files.  Basically divide and conquer.  Best way to find it.

If you have Buggi's Extra Cheats .dll, you could type in the cheat box (CTRL + X) "moolah 500000" (or some other value).  This will manually change your treasury value to a certain value.  Whether or not you are able to find the offending .dat, the moolah cheat may be a better alternative to resetting to a desired starting city money.

It might be Azul's money cheat.  Search for Azul on the Simtropolis to get the exact name of the file.  It is under the mods section on the STEX.

Search for Azul on the Simtropolis to get the exact name of the file.

The name of the mod that gives you startup funds of $999,999,999,999,999 is Azuls_MAX_Money.dat.
