Title: Bahía de Salinas
Post by: getcarty on October 11, 2010, 08:11:11 AM
Bahía de Salinas
Hi All, I've been playing Sim City 4 for a few months, and this is my first mayor's diary.

History
Bahía de Salinas is a small republic on the southern coast of the Iberian Peninsula.  Its capital is called Tacna.

It became independent during the 1950's, and since then has thrived, largely due to its government's decision to impose low taxes on hi-tech industry.  This resulted in large economical growth from the 1970's onwards and, consequently, it became a major player in the worldwide hi-tech market.

Nice. Good job with the highway walls and the GLR. I also like the building selection.
But you should turn off the UDI icons when taking pictures. :)

I agree with RickD and would like to add some more advices:

- try a(nother) slope mod. Those steps in the Glr-in-Avenues don't look nice - you might have a continuous slope even with building next to it without (too much) bad basements if the slope is smooth enough. ;)

- use some more different tree models.Simfox's chestnut tree surely looks nice but a bit repetitive. I'D like to recommend his other trees, too, as well as c.p.'s tree turned into MM tree's by hooha47 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2291) (but have a look at the dependencies!)

- even though 2 pictures and 1 update isn't too much I would really advice to you number both updates and pictures. It will make commenting much much easier both for your commenters and yourself, too!

- try to avoid open ends (like the ElRail in the first pic) unless you want to point there deliberately as cliffhanger or in order to ask for advice or proposals. It just looks better then ... ;)

And as always; Don't forget to make backups. A lot of great CJs/MDs died because they were never backup anywhere ...

Take care

nice begin of a MD you've established a huge city I see (unless you plopped everything) ,but try to be more realistic with waterfront kits because to different species doesn't run into each other and this looks allittle bit odd.

But as I said It's a great start

Very nice start, I particularly like the shoreline. Where did you get the brown seawalls?
However I'd like to note something - your city is quite empty, maybe you should unpause the game before taking the pictures? ::)

Nice first update! :)

Sea shores is something I always have problems with ... well, it's hard to find a place in Middle Europe that is further away from the nearest ocean compared with the place I grew up ...  ::)

The sail ships with the sails set at the pier looks a bit ... strange ... but that's OK with me because there are not so much BAT models of big sail ships.

What I don't like however is that railway overpass on the 3rd and 4th picture (is it the same?). Click my sig to learn why. ;)

Take care!
