It used to not be like this it used to be that SC4 did show all cars on the road and now i have several cities with 50,000+ population and no cars anywhere... can't even do the driving missions because of this (deluxe edition) my city advisers claim that roads, streets, avenues, etc. are clogged with traffic... even though throughout the whole city there is not one car... i have NAM and SAM installed... how do i fix this no car/clogged roads bug
check the NAM automata setting that you are using in your game, these control the number of cars that show in the game, from none to one that are 24hr (the cars stick around from comute start to finish). check the readme
Also check the in game graphic setting that your currently using, they might be set to low, this would bypass any setting for the NAM.
In the farther back views in the game cars and trains canèt be seen, might have to zoom in for them to appear
how do i change NAM settings?
well changing your NAM setting would be determined be the method you installed the mod, and how familiar you are with changing the settings.
---If you used the auto installer, the easiest way would be to uninstall the mod with the un-install command and re-install it again choosing the componets you desire. in this case you would re-install the exact same componets you had previouslly but changing the auto-mata setting to 24 or one of the radical options, depending on the desired amount of cars you want and your computer is able to handle. refer to the readme for the settings you desire. Just remeber one thing, if you choose a automata that has more comuter cars, freight and buses and trains, it will tax your computer and you may see a slow down in your game, once again depending on your computer specs
--personelly I install all of the nam in a dummy directory outside of my game that contains all the files and manually install the options I will be playing with into my game by copying and pasting the desired files I currently am using in the region I am playing.
Just be careful if you go this route that you copy and paste all required files to your game, keep these files in a named perment file in your game or the NAM will not funtion properly and most likely will crash without these files.
When switch in and out optional files, eg the automata file, have differnt directories for them, personelly I use sub-diectories. Doing this way you can save having duplicted or conflicting files of the same type in your game at once, which can cause issues or may result the game loading an undisired optional file last.
