I was browsing through iLives Reader today and I opened up the sound.dat. As I was browsing through I discovered you can play the XA files and preview them. I recognised many of the sounds from the game and some seemed new to me. Is it there a program out there that allows you to convert sound files to XA and if so would it be possible to swap these new ones with the old.
With all the modding people do on this site and all the projects currently in the works, I have heard absolutly nothing about the games sound. Sound mods are available for most games out there, so why not this one?
Some of the things that I thought could be possible would be custom sirens for police, ambulances and fire trucks, vehicle noises, ambient noises for the seas, forest, and cities.
Has anyone looked into this?

You can use WAV files as well, instead of XA files. :)

Thanks Tage!!! I can't beleive I didn't find that, I search every where to find a thread on the subject.
I read the tutorial made by Pegasus and downloaded the need TRK files, but what I'm not understanding is how to give them a unique instance?
Also, unless I missed it somewhere, how do I make sure my background noise plays where I want it to? For example I want to create a custom ambient noise for my urban area, do I just copy the specs of the default urban noise, or will that cause problems?
