I was just thinking that I don't have a BAT thread here. So I figured I should put one up. Here's the set of liquor stores that I've been working on lately, mostly CS$ and a little CS$$, too.

A set of ten, currently being rendered and tested in-game. Hopefully they'll be in good shape for release soon...
I really like them. Clean, realistic, and nicely textured. Right up my alley  Rendering in SD, HD, or both?
Great to see you put a thread here, my be one day I will copy you and do the samething. ;D A question, are you going to upload them on the exchange here as well??
looks great man!
you should make one for crazy bruces liquors :D
Hmmm more candy from my favorite CS batter, can't wait to try &apls &apls
Indeed good job and good work on textures
I've always liiked your bats. The roof texturs are nicely done. I can't find anythng to quibble about either. Nicely done! These fit right in with my small towns and rural play style.
- Jim
I really like your work, and especially the care you take in setting the mood of every single one of your buildings. It makes them so much more enjoyable to see them pop up in-game, as one can get some sort of attachment to their identity and history.
I'm glad to see you show up here, and look forward to seeing your next project released.
Hey, Hatter. Didn't you say you were going to make some BATs to prevent Wren Insurance for spreading around the city like weeds?
The BAT's look good. I've always loved your BATs.
Looks great I'll follow your work ()stsfd()
XiahouDun - thanks, I like my buildings dirty. Rendering in normal resolution - HD is not worth it for something this small in my opinion, and not worth the extra space they would take up in the plugins folder...
Aaron Graham - I had thought to submit them and start a candidacy, but they're so small and inconsequential, they would probably be a waste of the testers' time. :) Who knows, maybe in the future?
Buzzit, peter007, and Giraffe - thanks...
tag_one - I'm your favorite CS BATter? Wow - that's praise from Caesar! ;) Your stuff is so good; I tried my hand at some industrials a little while back, but they couldn't compare to your stuff! I'm glad you enjoy these little CS BATs...thanks for stopping by!
jmyers2043 - yet more praise from my BSC idols! :) Your stuff is what started me down the road, it was very inspirational. I'm glad you enjoy these - hope they pop up in your small town soon! Thanks for posting!
TiFlo - thanks; I try to make each and every BAT a little unique, even if they're going in the same pack. Each little building has its own character, its own history, and its own "story to tell." Thanks for the kind words...
skitbil - yeah, I toyed with the idea of doing something to compete with Wren Insurance, but buildings that size just aren't my style; there are so many more (and better) BATters out there who can do skyscrapers and tall office towers much better than I could even dream of doing. Glad you like my stuff...
I finished the liquor stores; now tackling a little office building run by the Church of Simtology. Ha!
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi187.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fx162%2Fcostumesketch%2FSC4Stuff%2Foff01.jpg&hash=088af3ba2ec211f09dfedddf983dad6c252c0a2c)
Still working out details and textures...seems like texturing is a neverending process...
The Church of Simtology.... Brilliant!
Have they had any problems with SimChan? ;)
Brilliant BATs, have been lurking for few weeks!
I love your BATs &apls But I wondered... what's the texture you use on the ground? Because it interests me a lot... $%Grinno$%
Guillaume
Perfect bat as always madhatter106. &apls &apls
I missed your thread here some how. This is really great work.
I look forward to thier release and using them in my cities.
&apls
Robin
TiFlo and Ciuu96 - thanks, I thought it was pretty clever myself, heheh. I'm sure there are sim members of Anonymous, ready to fight the good fight against them...
Sciurus - the texture on the interior floors is something I found in someone's BAT thread somewhere ages ago - I've just altered the contrast, colors, hue, saturation; it's basically a square of color with random shapes arranged all over in different colors, and each with a drop shadow. It does the job of creating visual interest and a sense of furniture and items in a room, without having to model all that stuff. Then with an omni light or two inside, it creates the semblance of rooms with racks of items for sale, chairs, desks, sales counters, etc.
Aaron Graham - thanks!
rooker1 - thanks; the liquor store pack has been modded and tested, and can be found on the STEX if you want to grab all ten of them...
The industrials of jmyers2043 and jestar greatly inspired this next one, though still untextured. It's the Susquehanna Hat Company at 222 Bagel Street, a 2x2 I-M anchor...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi187.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fx162%2Fcostumesketch%2FSC4Stuff%2Frough_susquehanna_untext.jpg&hash=0184d52567095f43f611f3d80eac1c0ca2dbf791)
Textures will be the next big hurdle, though I am interested in seeing how it looks when done...
Great to see you on SC4D and making new buildings! One of my first downloads was the small commercial set you did. The promise of seeing less taco stands was enough for me :)
The hat factory will definitely fit in with other custom industrial buildings, especially if it is brick.
Thank you, let's find it now $%Grinno$% Can't you put it there please? &ops
Your latest BAT is excellent &apls
Guillaume
what a fantastic looking industrial building, madhatter &apls!
Ooooh, industrials... I like where this is going!
Great looking bat.
Here is a few textures that I could see use on it:
CG Textures: BricksSmallOld0015 (Texture: #29090) (http://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id=29090)
CG Textures: BricksSmallOld0046 (Texture: #11709) (http://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id=11709&PHPSESSID=4d22df4b5e3acfe3ec97dfbd2a82771e)
CG Textures: BricksSmallOld0026 (Texture: #6477) (http://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id=6477&PHPSESSID=4d22df4b5e3acfe3ec97dfbd2a82771e)
You can probably find more under
Brick - > Modern Small - > Old
or under
Brick - > Modern Small - > Plastered
I picture a version with red bricked pillars and top, and yellow brick section in-between.
Hello Madhatter,
I also like this new departure into a new direction ... and the cheeky nod to film fun ala Abbott & Castello's In Society ;) the recommended textures from Vester ought to do well on the jesstar-esque creation
-good progress
Jack
Lowkey33 - thanks; lots of folks loved the low wealth packs I did. Anything that dilutes the Maxis pool - that stupid Cecilia's taco stand is evil. And don't get me started on Depiesse's Diner...
TiFlo, Buzzit and Sciurus - thanks!
vester - I create my own textures mostly, though I do find good starting points from the online sources such as cgtextures. I'm a big fan of altering saturation levels, color balance, painting in shadows and details and gradients, replacing colors and different elements, working in layers to add grime and interest.
jack wilds - I remember seeing that Abbott and Costello sketch on TV as a child, and the phrase "Susquehanna Hat Company" has stuck with me to adulthood. The sketch is a great variant on the old "Slowly I Turn" gag, also known as "Niagara Falls," which was done by many old time comedians...
I managed to slog through and texture the hat factory...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi187.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fx162%2Fcostumesketch%2FSC4Stuff%2Frough_susquehanna_text.jpg&hash=69376b658d56407456f29e72fd6cc64205df5e4a)
I'm dreading the nightlighting...it's going to take a long time to get it right...
I really like some of the geometry to the buttresses. The sky light thing on the lower left roof, and the tri level chimney. Also the cement block treatment along the ground level walls. The boxes in the corner and the stairs leading into the furnace room. I like the busted windows and plywood too. The black and yellow stripes at the sides of the rolling steel door. Lot's of small details make this bat a treat to look at.
It's a  job.
The plywood is.....well, quite original and realistic. Details like this are always my favourite. I don't add too many to my own BATs but I love when I see them on other folk's BATs, like this one, which is quite exquisite. Good work, can't wait to see the nightlighting.
Fred
This is such a great model that I hope you might make a few variations of it.....maybe different lengths and possible a wider version with a few different lengths. Just a thought, but I love this one.
Robin
The texturing turned out great! I can't say it any better than jmyers, there are a lot of beautiful small details on this one that make it come alive (pretty much true of all your bats). To follow up on my comment from simtropolis, the truck and railing blend in a lot more now. It was smart to scale them down a bit. Looks great all around.
jmyers2043 and mrbisonm - wow, thanks! It was great fun loading all those details into this BAT; I'm so glad they're appreciated...sometimes it's hard to stop filling up these BATs with little character touches. It makes the texturing process endless.
rooker1 - this will probably be the only incarnation of this; the lots may vary, but I'm not about to dive into building families and all that zaniness...it would probably take me eons to finish it then, haha.
spa - yeah, the scaling did the trick, thanks for the observations; often it takes an outsider's quick appraisal to figure out what's wrong, especially if you've been looking at it as long as I have...
I'm avoiding the lighting on the hat factory for the time being. In the meantime, here's a little property and set dressing rental house I've been working on, based off one I've been to here in Los Angeles. This one was fun to overload with details and character touches (one of my favorites and last-minute additions was the underwater mine prop).

This is one of those BATs that looks better in the back than it does in the front...ah well...
Way too many irons in the fire. Here are a couple of generic office buildings to compete with the Maxis stuff of the same ilk/size.
Byrne & Associates
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi187.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fx162%2Fcostumesketch%2FSC4Stuff%2Froughthumb_byrne.jpg&hash=f6db043a542b99d8a874aed5e0c9e295bb27abb1)

On the fence about some of the textures in the second one, particularly that brick...
Oh Gott!!... it's WONDERFUL!! &apls &apls
Guillaume
Generic office buildings, yes please!
Very lovely. &apls
Glad you decided to open a bat thread here on SC4D too! The hat factory and office buildings look really nice! I've always enjoyed your details and "naughty nimby"-type stuff. Liquor, strippers, etc need a home in SC4 too ;) Are these buildings going to be W2W?
This proves one does not have to clutter up a roof with unnecessary junk to have a nice looking model - nice  on both.

Generic office buildings, yes please!
Add "modern" to that ;D
Wonderful buildings madhatter. Really like that white stone texture
...like the choice and use of texture material, they have a post-modern generic look to them... I'd make a small business park with these type/kind of offices
Merry Christmas Madhatter
Jack
Thanks, all. I had a post that addressed you all individually, but the site went kaput on me when I clicked to post it, and I don't have the mental wherewithal to retype it all.
A couple of more offices, for the upcoming pack of commercials. The first is Ostman, Bauman & Green...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi187.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fx162%2Fcostumesketch%2FSC4Stuff%2Froughthumb_ostman2.jpg&hash=c909e0643603c898275748912230f15980a096a9)
And this one is Dinsdale & Rines, Inc...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi187.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fx162%2Fcostumesketch%2FSC4Stuff%2Froughthumb_dinsdale.jpg&hash=ca0cbc329af12726feade6d79c3f778924ad9a48)
More soon enough.
Excellent buildings, as always &apls
Guillaume
Wow nice. You're texturing skills are really great &apls
I want more! :D
Huge fan of your stuff hatter good to see you doing a little venturing into some industrial but I hope you continue strong in commerical ;D
Here's another for the office mega-pack - Landsburg Media Productions...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi187.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fx162%2Fcostumesketch%2FSC4Stuff%2Froughthumb_landsburg.jpg&hash=830cea08044d849b7ee298baced511e0f8eb1a1a)
And here's Napier & Long, LLC...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi187.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fx162%2Fcostumesketch%2FSC4Stuff%2Froughthumb_napier.jpg&hash=c475bfbef0576beedc3e3d4abec15e48d59f32b4)
I'm finding this pack might be a mix of older office buildings and more "modern" looking ones. All to dilute the pool that includes Bennett Music and other dreadful Maxis creations...
QuoteBennett Music
Yep, that buildings needs competition.
Catching my eye is the parapet of Napier & Long with that double line. I don't think I've seen that done before. I also like the brown marble or polished granite facade on the Landsburg building. Great roofs on both. Thank you, thank you for these bats.
- Jim
Look great!!! I love that Roof Junk pieces.
Very nice BATs, as always
Guillaume
I just love office buildings like this, not too tall nor too big, just perfect for my uses. Well chosen roof textures and details. Great job.
Fred
jmyers2043 - yes, indeed Bennett needs all the competition it can get. The double parapet was the result of a way that I modeled the facades, and it was something that I decided to keep once I had finished; it was sort of a happy accident that I don't mind at all. As for the roofs, I think I have the most fun doing the roof textures. Thanks for stopping by and commenting, as always it's a privilege to read your remarks about my stuff... :)
Sciurus and Aaron Graham- thanks!
mrbisonm - thanks, I prefer mid-rises, too - plus my cities never get large enough for high-rise structures in my commercial districts...
Here's another one for the pack - Wallace and Beck...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi187.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fx162%2Fcostumesketch%2FSC4Stuff%2Froughthumb_wallaceandbeck.jpg&hash=4890de5413473e11a5db785e4b235434f3b9a4b3)
As I said earlier, Bennett is pretty weedy. Hence the next three are what I call -
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi187.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fx162%2Fcostumesketch%2FSC4Stuff%2Fbennet_bust_banner.jpg&hash=8a5d7fdfa54de46dc6e8f61861ab9b212ed19bef)
These three are modeled at exactly the same LOD size as Bennett Music, and will be modded and have stats identical or very close to Bennett; this way, the simulator has more to choose from, and hopefully will choose these more often than it chooses Bennett - more to dilute the Maxis pool...from top to bottom, they are Cayce Communications, Berlitz International Travel, and Taylor Consulting Group...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi187.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fx162%2Fcostumesketch%2FSC4Stuff%2Froughthumb_bennetbusterscopy.jpg&hash=2fa80f890fa522dac222f81559c574bc666addca)
Hehe, cool label. Great buildings, too.
Waow, wonderful :o &apls &apls
Guillaume
What can I say? I'm working on a similar project. Take a look at this thread (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=12816.0). So I can only... appreciate this. &apls
We should at least avoid making the same buildings. I will subscibe to your thread, and I would propose that you do the same with mine.
As for the buildings that are the most annoying (growing all over the place), for CO$$ I would add La Vine Management. At first you may think that it doesn't grow as much as Bennett, but it actually does. And to make things worse, it's very "persistent". It may grow in large numbers before being able to get something bigger (eg Leong Accountants), and this is quite expected, as it has the largest number of occupants (jobs) in its growth stage (ehmm, of the lots it can grow in). On the contrary, Bennett may start growing here and there, but it's quite short-lived actually; it's usually soon replaced by La Vine, or a CO$$$ building. Often this takes place in a massive manner, eg two Chalmers' (CO$$$) replace two Bennetts and then some of the remaining Bennetts are upgraded to La Vine, or even Leong, to make up for the "lost" CO$$ capacity (due to the upgrade to CO$$$); so 4-5 Bennetts can go almost simultaneously. Another building to consider is Fennel Corp, a NY midrise, and the only member in its family too. If you want to do some work with residentials too, I have some ideas, but I'm going too far, I'm afraid.
Again, excellebt job!
Very nice buildings &apls I don't know why, but they remind me japanese style of buildings from some old animes ???
I like the 'taylor consulting group', now seeing details and colors -not shown at the other thread, like it even better
Wow. That's great work.
I surely like your CO's
peter007, seraf, sciurus, alj and jack_wilds- thanks.
cogeo - I'll comment at length in your thread; I will check out La Vine, I can't remember what that one looks like at the moment. And I will look up Fennell, too. I also hate Chalmers, it amazes me that Maxis made that one a CO$$$. Thanks for the comment :)
Two more - Shipton Enterprises is the first, and the other is something I haven't named yet...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi187.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fx162%2Fcostumesketch%2FSC4Stuff%2Froughthumb_shipton.jpg&hash=dcb598f70e807d9f15013dcdee7f2aaeb8ffc8ac)

Looks great, I love how you do with the inside of the building.
You know what the worst Bennett cousin is? Dieckmann Consulting. Those horrible light blue glowing windows :bomb:
These are great. I'm always looking for BAT's like this to help spruce up my organically grown cities. Lots of great creations never actually grow in my cities or not at the rate I'd like.
Anyways, I'm a fan of the arched concrete elements on Shipton enterprises. That's a common theme in many of the mid-century buildings I see everyday. It would also be perfect for a university campus since they have those kinds of buildings everywhere.
The only thing is some of these look rather tired-not necessarily a bad thing as buildings of that age tend to be pretty sad looking. But maybe adding some signage on a few would bring color?
QuoteAs for the buildings that are the most annoying (growing all over the place), for CO$$ I would add La Vine Management.
yep. I can sort of tolerate LaVine because it one of the few decent glassy boxes Maxis made but there is a limit...
Your BATs gave my inspiration for my next plugins set. ;D
Thanks! &apls
Very interesting work.
Especially the industrial buildings fell to my liking.
But they are all well done.
Congratulations
&apls
DaveN
Wow &apls Those low density CO's will sure have place in my region as soon as they are available for download!
Keep up that great fulldetailed work :)
Amazing work &apls &apls &apls
I cannot wait until this comes out
So do I! :D I really like the second one. Going to use it often when it's released :P
Thanks, folks. They'll hit the streets one of these days...
In the meantime, there's a bunch more that have been sitting on the hard drive...a bunch of little ones that were made to compete with Simpson, Inc. - a building that I hate almost as much as Depiesse's Diner.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi187.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fx162%2Fcostumesketch%2FSC4Stuff%2Fsmallofficescopy.jpg&hash=e91f9bf9a5aae42792003c50449590dfe4f0772f)
And some more dumpy office buildings that fit on 2x2 lots. These textures will probably need a tweak or two.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi187.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fx162%2Fcostumesketch%2FSC4Stuff%2Fofficesround2point1.jpg&hash=025b7602a4e405c6edf49588ad2f62f52c08a2ff)

These probably won't make it into the first pack of big offices. I haven't approached the nightlights yet. And then there's the modding and lotting and query-writing and all that jazz....
excellent work on all of your buildings! perfect for any city!
These are great generic stuff as an adition to the game. Please continue.
Maybe there is someone else who likes to lot for you? Or do the queries and the other parts of the jazz stuff?
(I am sorry, I am busy myself...)
Great to see you back, and great BATs too!
Just a question, do these last four ones replace or complement any Maxis building, or instead they are separate (thus requiring lotting and modding)? Can't figure out.
If they are going to grow on Maxis lots (like the Bennett-compatible ones) modding is indeed a trivial task - no need to really mod anything, maybe change a little the number of jobs (eg one or two jobs less or more), but most stats are inherited from the parent cohort. I made my own this way, and I was very satisfied. Haven't released them yet, because the models need some fine-tuning, but the modding part is done, and I could make them available to you, or provide some help, if you are interested. And why make custom queries, most players actually prefer the ones in the "Expanded UI Mod", for RCI buildings.
These small shops look fantastic. With the rest of the other also. I hope soon to see them in the downloads. Great job.
Excellent work ! &apls
Amazing &apls , I love, but it's too amercian for me! $%Grinno$%
Guillaume
jmdude1, namspopof, and DaveN - thanks.
Sciurus - to each their own. I never download Euro stuff myself. But thanks.
cogeo - the 2x2's don't replace any particular buildings, they are just meant to add variety. The smaller ones have stats that match Simpson, Inc. As to your input on custom queries, I don't think "most" players "actually prefer" the ones in the mod you mention - my queries are a form of branding which I take very seriously, just as much as the BATting itself. :)
Here's some more that I've been knocking around lately, to add variety to the lower stage medium wealth offices...

Just curious - how is calling what I typed "for the weak of mind" not a personal attack in-and-of itself? ;) I don't want to get into a moderation war or anything, but phrases like "most players actually prefer" grate against the very fiber of my being. ;)
Anyhoo, the first eleven of these boxy 2x2 offices are available for download, if anyone wants 'em... Enjoy!

No amount of smiley faces can counter a personal attack. My statement was a general one, not a specific one, therefore not "personal'. I did
not say "Madhatter, you have a weak mind" which would indeed be a personal attack.
Downloaded and examined both packs, and I have to say that the BATting work is excellent!
As for the modding I have some comments to make:
- The 4 Simpson- and the 3 Bennett-compatible ones are generally OK. Some growth-stage settings need to be adjusted so as to match the Maxis ones exactly.
- The rest 8 need quite extensive changes, eg growth stages are generally set high (relative to the number of jobs they offer) and Building value and Worth are not consistent. Some of the lots will have a hard time to grow. Some buildings have a number of jobs close to that of Dieckmann Consulting, yet the buildings are considerably taller, they pay much higher taxes and grow on lots of a higher growth stage.
I guess these where the PM-suggested values. Well, as you can see Maxis isn't consistent even with itself! Maybe consider a fix here. I really like the BATs, so I'm preparing a fix for myself.
cogeo - feel free to fix whatever you'd like with them. Most of those stats are Maxis Plugin Manager generated; in the testing I did, I haven't had trouble growing any of them. Some pop up more frequently than others, but given the opportunity, they do pop up.
I had neglected to visit here for a while. Here's some more offices, this time inspired by (gasp) some Maxis stuff - these are some counterparts to things like Paull, Inc., Meehan Marketing, Ben Tower, and the McAdams Building...

From left to right, they are....
The Davenport Building
Cook, Crookes & King Ltd.
Fox Financial Partners
Debar & Home, Esq.
Palladino Design
They still need a lot of details to be added...and ugh the nightlighting....
They look good already. I like your buildings very much because they blend in with the Maxis building very well and add variety to them.
and your great buildings just keep on coming. i like these new ones. what lot size are you putting these on?
They look great. Will be a great addition to any city.
Very nice, they'll tie in really well with the small maxis office towers, which can get kinda repetitive. Looking forward to seeing these released. ;D ;D
Great to see that more BATs are in the pipeline. And the work is as always excellent!
It's also good that you are making some CO$$$ too. You have made many small-to-medium CO$$ ones. I have modded them for my personal use, from 56 jobs for Briggs Entertainment to 131 for Byrne & Associates (it is the largest one), just sort of Leong Accountants. So with 16 (additional) buildings in the above range, I would say that this category is now overrepresented! I don't think it's worth to make any more, actually I think the 2nd volume was a bit much, as the 8 buildings of the 1st were already enough.
As for the McAdams-like ones, they look really very good. Personally I wouldn't start with these though. They may indeed sprout up here and there at some point, however they usually prove short-lived, as they are soon replaced by something bigger. And I never had more than two in the same city. I have made some Chalmers-compatible ones (61 jobs), though I haven't released them yet. These stay for much longer, however there are some bigger ones that stay for years:
- Modde Inc
- Galvin Techtronics
- Curtin Fabrics
- Kearney LLC
- Fancey Foods
These buldings have 77-112 jobs.
You can avoid the lotting work completely, if you make LODshells almost identical to the Maxis ones (at least around the base). This is due to those stupid shop facade props used in the Maxis lots. It poses additional requirements though, eg the models must be made in a way that having or not having a prop doesn't matter (so it can be a window or wall looking OK both with and without the prop). This in turn requires examining the lots and making the models as needed. Quite demandind, but you don't need lotting. You know what would be best to you.
Another missing bit is some bigger CO$$ mid-rises, like Dolan Contractors, Miguel LLC and Fennell Corp (about 350 jobs). The Houston & Euro sets lack such buildings completely.
Cheers
Happy belated birthday :sunny: ... hope it was filled with goodness and small surprises... trust life is well with you...
I've neglected this topic again. Here's a pile of stuff in the works...some 3x2 office buildings to compete with the Maxis stuff mentioned prior in the thread...

And another modern little fun 2x2 with access to underground parking...

And some more old-fashioned, older buildings in the 2x2 midrise realm. Most of my other stuff was more generic/contemporary - this stuff should mesh well with the older tilesets...

Heh, I've downloaded some of your packs at Simtropolis. I think that the 5th one looks the best, somewhat elegant, but not that, eh, 19th century style look that makes you wonder what the workers endured. :P For the one with the underground parking, are you considering to make it semi-transparent? It'd look a lot nicer like that.
Anyway, these are just some of my opinions on them, overall they look nice.
PS. If you don't know how to make semi-transparent glass, PM me and i'll be happy to give you some links.
Now where can i find these BAT`s? Some say its on STEX, others say its on LEX &Thk/(
Can anyone help me find these?
