Title: Constant CTDs
Post by: apeguy on December 01, 2010, 08:36:54 AM
Okay, so I have a 4x4 city I'm building, and lately it's been crashing constantly. At first I didn't think much of it because my game crashes occasionally anyway. But now it's really starting to become annoying. It started when I had been working on an adjacent city, and then I loaded up the city with the crashing problem, and I let some time pass, and it crashes after about 3 game months. When I tried loading it up again it crashed as soon as it finished loading. I fixed this problem by loading up the adjacent city again, and destroyed all the road and rail connections to the crash city, except for the subway connection (which I personally don't think is the cause). When I loaded up the crash city after this it didn't crash straight after loading like before. Since then I have done some more work on the crash city, just stuff like adding new residential and commercial developments, and a new GLR network (I have used draggable as well as puzzle peices, and I have also used tram-in-avenue as well as tram-in-road).

As well as this I also rebuilt the connections to the adjacent city to see if they work. When I had built the city's tram network, rebuilt the connections and the new residential and commercial zones, I hit play, and for a while it worked fine. The new res and com zones developed fine, and people started to use the tram network, but once again after three months or so, the city crashes randomly. I think it may be something to do with the neighbor connections, or maybe the GLR systems. Can anyone help me?

EDIT: I have also tried the set affinity method and set the CPU to 0, but this has no effect. I have reason to believe that it may be something growing in my cities, or perhaps something to do with the adjacent city. I was going to obliterate the city, but I only want to do that as a last resort. Someone please help me! &hlp

Do you have any industry mods or the Super Demand Mod? Does your city have a large industry base or job capacity? Try dezoning all your industry in both cities and see if anything changes.
