OK, so we have the crazy BSC Shosaloza map and the aim of the game is to try to get as many sims into the map without trashing the natural terrain while using custom content which is usually set to more realistic numbers.
I can do that :D
Firstly, I've never done a CJ before, so any resemblance this hodge-podge of pictures and words has to a CJ with a story line or any didactic purpose will be purely coincidental. :P
So I believe that these things usually start with the sorts of mods etc that the person uses.
Phooey to that list! #stsfd·
I use anything and everything that catches my eye. You like something you see? Ask.
The worst I can do is ignore your request (well, I can do worse, but I've been told not to talk about that in public). &mmm
So, onto the map: I don't normally play on such mountainous areas, so this is a huge departure in style for me.
I detested the craggy contours of the original map, so, like Barby, I opened up the god-mode and softened the whole thing so I could actually think about how to play this map.
I haven't altered it fundamentally in terms of height, slope etc, but I have weathered it to be more like the mountains I know here in the S.E. of Australia, which are soft, worn, ancient and covered in Forest.
As you can see, I don't have a snow mod installed apart from Cycledogg's Olympus terrain mod as I'm not a fan of trying to do anything on year round snow.
The softened region:

Like the others, I intend to build my largest 'city' in the river delta. The CBD will be in the middle of the two tiles with a dense core. The middle tile and the tile behind on the bay will be largely residential and business; the tile to the right will likely be weighted towards industrial. The rest of the map will be farms or towns (terrain permitting); some tiles may never have anything more than a handful of houses and farms on them.
MONA VALE
Mona Vale has steep, wooded terrain falling to the coastal plain.
So, as the saying goes, 'build it and they will come'. I connected two rail stations, one on the plain and one at the top of the mountain. The mountain is where the first residents move in.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-May.jpg&hash=a03803c1938382f21f4c8594ec3b50f161ee3167)
Power at this stage is from solar and a water pump has been placed. Small areas are levelled but the green lobby ensures that no more than 10% of residences are back-to-back to maintain the natural contour of this hilly area.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Nov-2.jpg&hash=2d62c6c71c54769cf991db2cba52343fe3b90461)
Within a few years (and my leaving the simulator run to do some weekend chores), the zoned areas at the top of the mountain have become a nice little suburb. There is a chemist, a clothier, video store and, most importantly, a pub.
To shut the green lobby up, the council has undertaken massive tree planting programs in this area.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Nov.jpg&hash=e7e848d78ad7344515e2a3763bacf2f6664af958)
It's worked: the folks live up here because of the spectacular autumn colour and quiet leafy streets.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Nov-3.jpg&hash=65ddb651b10d2816e2eb1688635720ef6afcb9ca)
A sample of the types of housing up here in the suburbs (shameless plug I know, but the cream coloured house has been done for this project to house 18 people instead of the usual 12).
Things are going wonderfully, but the sims here have a long commute down the mountain to where the CBD, and work, are; many streets have to be upgraded as the sims simply won't take the long way around, so sit at home watching television:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Sep.jpg&hash=7908671fe7f10477a7ee6f59b427902fd19bfed3)
Now the sims can happily cross the train line to get to work with the new bridge; this side of the tracks can now start developing with proper connections. Some extra commercial zoning will go a long way as well.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Oct.jpg&hash=d3f68d555a0553a1930879050ba3d4971701422b)
One business takes advantage of the new connections and positions itself on the road down the mountain. Cindy has opened her establishment to serve the needs of the mountain men.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Dec.jpg&hash=63852ae688c522d61e76c321af94b87e620c1c89)
Traffic always slows to a crawl at this stretch of road and the mountain women wonder why their husbands, who work in the offices down on the plains, are always so eager to work 'back late' on Friday nights...
The local Rector (he, he, he :D) was outraged at Cindy's new business until he realised that he could keep a 'watchful eye' on her business from high up on the hill.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-May-1.jpg&hash=431b5c5e47b65d1d638e5f545d30c8b45ce95fad)
Each Sunday, the Rector (he, he, he ;D) makes snide remarks in his sermons about the men who visit Cindy on the Friday night, but turn up to church with their wives on Sunday.
The Rector (he, he, he :D) lives in the yellow weatherboard house across the road from the church with his wife.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Oct-1.jpg&hash=c15e83eb216a3b3009a2ec76a1552e7928927466)
In fact this house has a much better view from the second floor of the comings and goings of Cindy's clientele than the church: it is just as well that the Rector's (he, he, he :D) wife has dreadful eyesight or she would have seen her husband every Sunday afternoon walking up to the Madams door.
It's a good thing too, as the mayor gets most of the kick-backs from this sordid little business. It's got him a nice house though:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Oct-3.jpg&hash=f2092e651c1465b3963601758b44aee858aafcf6)
Kids, don't ever under-estimate the benefits of being shallow, rich and powerful when you grow up. Bribes don't hurt either.
But life up in the hills, is mostly about the little things; the 'blink and you'll miss it' scenes that make you go 'aaahhhh' Like this little stream that winds it's way through the woods behind people's houses.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Oct-2.jpg&hash=707bab705bd2aca13f73ae32b7967741772b4565)
The area has truly become a desirable hill suburb (unlike the normal sorts of mountain suburbs where cousins marry each other). Here's an overview of the suburb of Lawson so far:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Nov-1.jpg&hash=91617e449474eefa1caa145f52bba0066f100674)
This is about the extent of the building work for this area. Most buildings have been made historical. I've obviously done something right because on the road out of town, Dalene can finally build her mansion to take in the view of the valley below, thanks to Colyn's patented SF technology.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Mar.jpg&hash=742fbb99ac82d2e403dca2a6a510fe33bc0f23a7)
Word has it that the view from the terrace of the city below is splendid. The only concern Dalene has however, is keeping the water from spilling out of her pool...
Next update, we'll go down the mountain to check out the CBD...
Hey mattb nice start.
In the 4th picture from the bottom (the mansion) is that one HUGE lot? Or is that modular? It look awesome and in the range of a 6x6 lot which I have never seen before. If its a lot did you make it yourself or is it on the net somewhere?
^^^
*seconds*
I like your take on this, it seems to be a more laid back approach, going for pleasant low density and natural forested slopes versus having concrete embankments
&apls
Excellent. great start I look forwad to more
:satisfied:
I like what you did with the map to start with, its certainly a different point of view. Being from Brisbane I'm more used to the rocky slopes and angular mountains around here, so its interesting to see how other people from different places see the same thing.
I love your houses in among the forest, they fit very well with the environment.
Great start. The trees and nicely curved roads and streets make it very cosy!
just realized : this post must have made me a citizen on this site!
Fantastic work, mattb325!
Thankyou to everyone who has left a comment, I appreciate them all very much .
I was a little nervous in showing such forrested suburbs and wondered what the result would be like. :)
To jplumbley. The mayors house is one lot and exists only on my machine. If I released it, people would rightly be able to hunt me down with a big stick.
I had downloaded the larger mayors lot when I first had Simcity and had always lamented it (if you're unfamiliar with it, it has a hedge maze, a heliport, a zoo...completely unrealistic, large and ugly).
So rather than trashing the lot, I redid it as you see above; makes great eye-candy, but isn't brilliant for the game and the reasons are:
*It replaces the ingame mayors house - and existing lots placed prior to this will always look screwy, cover the roads etc, etc...
*I simply choose a prop to cover the existing mayors house building. Absolutely no modding was done (I can't mod to save myself): so while you place it you can still see the shadow of the mayors house under SG's highgrove model (fine for me, but not at all professional)
*It's transit enabled from left to right along a diagonal with the SC4 tool. Looks catchy in game because I wanted to make the lot appear not square like all the other in game stuff, but transit enabled lots, if not placed well out of the way, can cause real havoc with commute times. This one also mimics a street, but the sims can't 'really' go through it, so it could technically cause one side of the street to abandon if there is no other access point.
That said, if anyone really wants it, I'm more than happy to post a lot-editor picture for you to replicate it yourself - it just seriously isn't something that I consider to be a quality download.
UPDATE MONA VALE
Before we leave the suburb of Lawson and head to Mona Vale CBD, seeing as at Christmas many people get into their car and drive for hours on end, I thought I'd show some of the things the sims have to put up with.
Sims that play together, stay together.
These are the inhabitants of 'Rue Suisse', a middle class apartment block by SWI21 mid way up the mountain at the lower point in the suburb of Lawson. Lets watch as they start their morning commute.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Oct-4.jpg&hash=d6efd3a1b713f1358c5a8929c1a52cff09d5ce42)
Still commuting...

Are we there yet?

"I'm bored, I spy with my little eye, something beginning with 't'"... "let me guess, trees, could it be trees???? Enough with the trees!!!!!!!??????"
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Nov-7.jpg&hash=dcee84a7b88c30493c272daae7708465708a3815)
Still going, I hope no one had baked beans for breakfast....

So if living together and car-pooling isn't strange enough...wait for it....they all work together!
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Dec-1.jpg&hash=687376f5eb64fc9ca9a3fb4d0fcf361cd745f663)
Let me tell you how much I would HATE to live in that block. I don't care if it has an amazing view!
So if you are driving at Christmas, do so safely and don't overload the car with your neighbours. Actually, leave your neighbours at home: THEIR home!
Merry Christmas ;D
Great new work!
Merry Christmas to you, too!
ROFL You must have pulled off some magic &hlp with that lot LOL. Sounds like there are quite a few little problems that you have created with it too... LOL But its a work of art :satisfied: one of a kind!!
I will stray away from making a replica of it. I will just do my own lotting :P
Nice work on the lastest update. The car ride was quite fun. Lets do it again sometime.
Great update again Mattb325. Driving with you down to the village is fun. Indeed hope more rides will follow.
Super update, Matt. I love the commute as it is so typical of the stupid sims. ;D
Matt, great start to your not-a-CJ. The Rector (he he he) had me on the floor :D (twisted perverted minds must think alike. I can't wait to see how this develops.
neat... looks like a nice neighberhood to live ;)
This is fantastic Mattb  Keep up the awesome work
from the looks of it you have a very nice little downtown i would like to see more of.
Lovely example of great skills
Thanks every body for the replies. The rector (he,he,he) will pop up from time to time....but his understudy <ewww> might as well. Benny Hill makes me do it. I swear.
As for Sms being stupid, well, yes this is true, but their creator can be more so - I inadvertantly deleted a swathe of new images instead of the old ones...so this update (instead of the CBD) will be on some of the inner suburbs down on the plain.
UPDATE MONA VALE
Residential Styles on the Plain.
The dry ancient river delta is perfect for housing many sims en masse and providing ample employment centres. This area has been chosen as the dense core for the region and will straddle the neighbouring tile also.
This will eventually become a pocket of skyscrapers and tall apartment complexes <shudder>. :'(
This should push the population close the 1,000,000 magic number needed in this region.
I'm of two minds here: I know that high density is unavoidable to achieve the regional goal, but I truly don't want to see forests of concrete boxes, so I will keep the CBD as small and dense as possible, with an aim of around 100,000 in the CBD through apartment towers.
To get the remaining numbers, large swathes of terrace housing and apartments in the scale of terraces will have to be used.
There are many different styles available, and I have chosen almost all of them in the Euro set.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Feb.jpg&hash=8124aca9f5462be87deb5e2b62dc5fa2d2b9af07)
The builders are hard at work.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Mar-1.jpg&hash=5172215136e83ac2c0fd082c8342dd4565a96475)
More apartments and terraces and the start of commercial zones along the avenues. Small commercials are zoned at all other intersections to help the many sims find work and alleviate some commute times.
Road-top bus stops by deadwoods help commute times for those sims who don't live and work on the same street as well as not taking up precious real estate. These are a god-send  in situations like this as one tile can hold approx 20-30 sims in terraces; every bit of space needs to work.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Oct-5.jpg&hash=42b74a6447ec09226f970a1a681af146375f63e6)
An overview of a typical medium density inner city suburb. The numerous building styles including English, Dutch, Italianate, German and French are all tied together by the use of London plane street trees.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Sep-1.jpg&hash=74a98035c009ec68a85d5ff98362116b61965957)
Down here on the warmer plains at sea-level, the residents prefer CSX's Poplar and Jacaranda trees to provide seasonal colour and interest. Many small parks ensure that the residents are never too far from nature.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMountRobsonCSX-1166872849.jpg&hash=9f7f7d776b7c058a105d8d41a85e3462e15101a4)
Overview of the Mona Vale tile showing the terrace house areas in the centre left on the plain next to the CBD. The population stands at approximately 10,000: .1% of where we need to be! #?¿?¿?$
Next update will show the start of Mona Vale's CBD (assuming I don't delete the photos!)
I like it! I like it a lot. Your use of trees is really adding a special atmosphere to these streets. The different styles of buidlings mix well together.
May I ask how you zone? Uni-density or different densities? #?¿?¿?$ The result is so much better then what grows in my residential areas..
That looks great Mattb &apls I'm looking forward to more mate
Fantastic new work!
reat work matt. I like they way you want to preserve the green touch.
I hope you'll succeed in getting the 1 million goal with a green touch to it.
Nik-Nik
wonderfull work you are doing
Man if anything could do it for me ... this was it ... I am really going to make a damn good effort to get to a place wher eyou and me can toss some meat on a barbie and down a few tall ones ... you have the right frame of mind. &apls
Please don't throw meat or prawns on me. $%Grinno$%
Very nice. Very nice.
Excellent use of the buildings.
I like the mixed up style of the buildings.
A bit more realistic to me and also makes the city look "older and more established" if you know what I mean.
Kettle's on for you!
:satisfied:
I knew you woud say something like that Barby :P
Alfred, Bat, Nik Nik, Jacqui and TTC, thanks for all of the comments - glad you like it....
Sebes. My style of play is painfully slow. These homes are all medium density zoning. Basically I zone about 6-8 blocks at a time and wait with the bulldozer tool.
Anyzing zhat pops up vhat zhould not be zhere vill be bulldozed!
Everything else is marked historic if I like it. The pic showing all of Mona Vale was probably the equivalent of 20 hours game play, so very, very slow indeed.
Colyn, I'm always up for a longneck. I have one at my desk right now ;), and Barby, after 6 or 7 longneck beers you won't notice the prawns we've thrown at you. Believe me. Failing that, after I've had 6 or 7 longnecks, I won't notice the prawns I've thrown on you...(or I won't remember, whichever comes first!) :D
Now, for a small update, here is the CBD - not quite the original images, as I stupidly deleted them...there's a fine line in knowing how many beers one can consume in an SC4 sitting! :D
MONA VALE CBD
All of the zoning here is dense commercial. This little space will eventually become the office and commerce power house of the region.
To break up the higher densities, plazas and parks are placed early before the area becomes too tall.
(Actually, the park is a cheat park that gives me $500, but dont tell the rector (he, he, he) as it actually takes the money from the parish plate each week and donates it to the city coffers), the other plazas are just normal in game ones modified in the L.E. with the same costs and stats as the original.
Now, as we all know, the game does some odd things some times; mostly it has to do with the buildings it chooses
To demonstrate, Ill show an early pic of part of the CBD (remember the Central Business District will straddle two tiles, so it will be built right on the edge).
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Apr.jpg&hash=d793ecfe35c26ec8d6da6a6f41d4b4b8dab4f65a)
Now we all know that starting out is hard work. Finances are tight, there are networks to establish, advisors to appease, Sims to keep happy, schools, hospitals, police, fire, civic and utility structure to build and maintain
.the list is endless! :-\
So when shopping for commercial buildings, I saw the Buy One, Get One Free, sign on Spa and Vanderaps buildings &hlp.
Great, Ill take two. Little did I know the town planner would run the things up side by side!
And the kindly shop assistant who threw in some Sim Goober buildings (I do some mean haggling), thinking that she was doing me a good deed, only added to my woes:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Apr-1.jpg&hash=87f3e41fb2dd3716295320262d9785efe94149c5)
Oh dear. Nothing like endless repetition to bolster realism. Thankfully, as time passes, new buildings are created. The city even gets its first skyscraper; the demand for high wealth commercial offices being fed by the growth on this and the neighbouring tile.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Sep-3.jpg&hash=49494e9da07963b2f1392c6fbe94c5625d27f4b8)
The train line carries folks up and down the mountain and ensures inbreeding up in the hills is kept to a minimum.
Mona Vale comes of age: the city rejoices as it gets its very first town hall.
Goodbye sensibility, hello bureaucracy.
The first act of the city was to ship all of the horses you see wandering around the CBD off to another part of the country to be converted into glue.
The city had tried to strike a deal with the Saudis but these horses simply werent racing material, so glue, marrow, gelatin and other manufactured meat products they shall have to be....
Thankfully the green lobby was busy at the time up the mountain protesting to stop a car from reversing into a puddle with tadpoles of the very rare tittyla-la frog in it and so didn't notice 40,000 horses disappearing from the plains.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Aug.jpg&hash=3362112d04796ac48dd1692b793684cfa02691d2)
As you can see, more skyscrapers are rearing their heads.
But on the other side of the CBD things are definitely more sedate.
On Elizabeth Street, we see a Marks & Spencer Department store, and many luxury hotels (including Her Majestys, Moritzplatz, the Tripolis, Milne, Bavaria and the Rott). An exclusive private school for the residents of the inner city is seen at the base of the picture.
This is one of the more elegant streets of Mona Vale, where residents often stroll along Church Street (to the left) admiring the many wealthy terraces before stopping at the pub for lunch opposite the church grounds in the quiet foothills of Mona Vale.
To the right of the picture are some modern and post modern encroachments, but these are still of high quality including SAS Nettan, Frogfaces' London Wall and the Administration and Records Building.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Sep-2.jpg&hash=375a9cdfd8bf0408362de80eb9c4c5fd2aab1a59)
This is all for Mona Vale for the time being, by the time we return to Mona Vale, the CBD should be completely transformed to help reach the regional goal of 1M sims.
For the next updates, we'll go to St Leonards, an industrial area to the upper right of this city and one of my favourite tiles so far...
It looks very european  I like it ;)
I like it a lot. It has a very European touch.
Thanks for your detailed answer Matt, I really appreciate that. Do you make them historical once you have the building you want? I am so glad that you are slow gamer - so I am not the only one. But your result is big heap better than mine, so I bet you are more patient then I am ::)
Great new work!
Thanks everyone for the comments: much appreciated. Yes - anything I like here is made historical to try and stop the game from growing over it.
UPDATE TIME!!!!!
Firstly, I have to say that this tile was an absolute joy to work on even before I had started thinking about where all of the towns, farms, cities etc, would be located in the region.
When I had finished terraforming this tile, it reminded me of a train trip from Bex to Montreux which if memory serves correctly, is shielded on both sides by the Alps, but the valley floor itself has a mish-mash of less than inspiring industrial, commercial and residential (including a trailer/mobile home park).
But snow is all around and mist hangs low on the mountains' steep slopes, shrouding the firs and making the birches' bare branches glisten; the train rounds a bend and lake Geneva sparkles as a jewel before you: the scene is breathtaking.
At once I knew St Leonards would be my high tech industrial area.
UPDATE: ST LEONARDS
St Leonards sits to the north East of Mona vale in a high glacial valley that slopes gently and quickly from Mt Victoria to the East.
Here is one of the largely Industrial areas of the region: its proximity to Mona Vale ensures that Manufacturing and High Tech industries are favoured. Development is in a sliver along the high valley floor.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FStLeonards-Nov-1.jpg&hash=86920b9142a9ec4af3c8014542d920e7e1a8e558)
Here we see freight, warehousing and high tech industry on the north of the Old Bathurst Road, separated from motorists' view by rows of trees. Further up the hill is the water treatment plant for the area. Given the need for indsutry to have access to flat land, this is one of the few areas of the region where retaining walls will be allowed.
Oh, and remember the horse problem that the Saudis didn't want to take off Mona Vales' hands?
If you look to the right of the picture, you will see the hoof and mouth glue factory. Problem fixed.
The township along the western border is little more than a main street commercial area. The bulk of the citizens are employed by the industry. Those that can't find work here commute by rail to nearby Turramurra or Mona Vale.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FStLeonards-Nov.jpg&hash=5e977343e455846b6e9303432d0dd36c1b0855a1)
At the opposite end of town, in the foothills of Mt Victoria, there are more residential developments and some farmland.
A close up of some of the Residential development prior to the farming areas:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FStLeonards-Nov-2.jpg&hash=31b617a8902a34d1cda318223e079f849bf28e7b)
The soil here is excellent and volcanic in nature, but at such a high elevation, the growing season can be rather short: here we see the summer crops being planted
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FStLeonards-Aug.jpg&hash=30c5f1bff8ae39e892cb9592dfc2174a20cfaf06)
Some of the farmland. Hardy crops are grown at this altitude: Lavender, roses and tulips are grown for the markets in Mona Vale:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FStLeonards-Nov-3.jpg&hash=0b800e7c2dff31ab39b18b3d59a870600c18f468)
Wheat and other grains also manage at this elevation:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FStLeonards-Nov-4.jpg&hash=655e10a2c648cfc1ecdea43229c573a9ee340745)
Overview of the farms at the start of the autumn harvest. The farmers have to ensure crops are harvested before the first frosts.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FStLeonards-Sep.jpg&hash=9bd627abe20a037f42edf17afa01b42e9fba2275)
However, mother nature doesn't always comply. An early snowfall causes havoc for the farmers during the autumn harvest:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FStLeonards-Nov-10.jpg&hash=f11a4936cfab9e1c2197aa46277d98bab307e6eb)
The grains are particularly susceptible: here you can see the frenetic pace of trucks taking the harvest for processing even before the streets are ploughed.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FStLeonards-Nov-9.jpg&hash=efce07940fa59771c71861fe2396d8fc0b2244b5)
This snow fall was a record for so early in the year (the leaves haven't even fallen yet), it has reached right down to the town some 600 metres down
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FStLeonards-Nov-8.jpg&hash=af59aaee63a3da4aff200d1c6ea984a2bedf0f29)
Nothing like a happy snap of the first winter snowfall! Even the lake (just visible in the pines) in the top left of the pic has frozen over:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FStLeonards-Nov-7.jpg&hash=d70d6916249c1e9106948b2ea1e10812071a49df)
While the early freeze had some impact on the economy, development progresses.
Up on the plateau overlooking the valley, the small borough of Dural, its main street full of cafes, pubs, restaurants and boutiques, is thriving. Most of the wealthy residents here own hobby farms within St Leonards:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FStLeonards-Nov-5.jpg&hash=83a4c777737b74e77de70a6f70ea7a9a5358ef93)
The borough of Dural with its cafes and hobby farms. A prefect enclave for the wealthy.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FStLeonards-Oct.jpg&hash=f5a3ffd9466d30a3afc3bd73e29be5bedfe2c4ae)
This whole area has been made popular by the cool clear mountain lakes fed by springs.
Perfect for trout fishing.
Here is one such isolated lake near a timber logging area (the mountain Red Cedars of the area are also an important 'crop', but are carefully managed to ensure that re-growth occurs). A small operation takes tourists to this remote spot by sea plane from the coast. There is also access by road, by the drive up the mountain is long and difficult: timber logging trucks also make the drive less than pleasant, so those who can afford the stay here, usually opt for the plane trip.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FStLeonards-Nov-6.jpg&hash=3f91b884378d7a30532f830b9b0b060406c14e4d)
Overview of St Leonards including the borough of Dural and the areas farmlands. Development here is largely complete. There are approx 10,000 living here and many Industrial jobs. If regional pressure is too great, further residential development may occur on the clearing in the bottom left of the picture.
Hope you've enjoyed looking at some of the pictures. ;D ;)
beautifull work you have done its really looking great
Very very nice   Keep it up
No words can describe how beautifull this is. Astonishing realistic, and so much eye for detail. &apls A joy too look at. &dance
That is gorgeous, Matt. I love the way you have the mix of rural and industrial areas. Also your story telling is excellent and makes my efforts look very sub-standard but as long as you stop throwing things at me I'll let you off. :satisfied:
Great new work!
Thanks for the replies everyone, I promise I won't throw anything more - as a matter of fact, it's a New Years Resolution :D
****** ************ ********
Now, back to our story...(as well as I can manage here). Remember the cheating Rector (he, he, he :D)?
Once a month, to ensure that Cindy maintains her strict client confidentiality, the Rector (he, he, he :D) has to perform a little chore.
He drives from his house on the hill in Mona Vale to the Retirement home on the coastal plain to collect Cindys aging mother and take her out for a day trip.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Oct-1.jpg&hash=c15e83eb216a3b3009a2ec76a1552e7928927466)
Cindy would do it herself, but the Retirement home relatives-day is on a Saturday, and, this incidentally, is Cindys busiest day
In truth, the Rector (he, he, he :D) dreads his monthly outing Driving Miss Cindys Mother: she is hard of hearing, has terrible eyesight, and shows him about as much respect as her soiled Tenna lady incontinence pad, but he accepts that it is penance for his adulterousness and so tolerates these drives with a good grace.
In truth, Cindys mother also dreads these monthly drives with her daughters client she would rather the Fukitol TM medication she is given on a Tuesday, but she accepts that it is her penance for being the mother of a Madame and so tolerates these drives with a good grace.
UPDATE GALSTON
Lest the Rector (he, he, he :D) be seen, he decides to take Cindys mother well outside the city for their monthly outing. With a tank full of petrol, they head to Galston some 100ks east by north-east of Mona Vale on the other side of St Leonards.
The Rector (he, he, he :D) is in a particularly despondent mood this Saturday as the parish collections are down by $500 each month and he cannot work out why.
(The citys parks are looking verdant though)
shhhh
Galston, an industrial city, will suit his mood perfectly.
Lets watch.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2FA_room_with_no_view.jpg&hash=55dfd8b78e35b801366d7fb16f310ba14717a2ec)
The bulk of Galstons 110,000 residents are working class, living in close proximity to their factories. As a consequence of this Dickensian existence, diseases of the respiratory tract in this part of Shozalosa are much higher than elsewhere.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2Fliving_close_to_work.jpg&hash=6b64c55ed3357d51d3158055d4d4ab4bedc8489f)
The view from this council flat would never allow the residents to forget exactly where they were.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2FPoor_but_fit.jpg&hash=b2acd7b31940ec94644efeb038998d10768faa98)
Those at the very bottom of Galstons social ladder have very little in the way of extravagances: Factories at the bottom of the hill and shops and a chemist at the top. Because the bulk of the citizens in these apartments do not own a car, the council installed stairs to at least allow the residents easier access to the supermarkets and chemists on the highway:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2FSupermarket_at_the_top_of_the_hill.jpg&hash=40623bcf9f1049d94ce89aabc476546921e0c3e7)
Getting the shopping is a vile task at the best of times; up such a huge flight of stairs would be hellish!
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2Fwealthy_and_poor.jpg&hash=d61ef2747b9e6d25c35408e5aab74e567932743d)
The apartments in this area are mostly a mix of old apartments which have since been abandoned by the middle classes for other areas of the region (Galston was not always an industrial centre) and council flats which run up to house immigrant workers when the large factories arrived.
Surprisingly, here and there, wealthy apartments are still to be seen.
However, luxury apartments arent the norm
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2Fsuicide_towers.jpg&hash=23ddd4f0ccd413c9730b7291374475ded54d9c05)
Cindys mother, still suffering the drive with her daughters "client", ruefully remarked that suicide rate in these apartments would be justifiably high. The Rector (he, he, he :D) decided they had seen enough of this part of Galston and turned left into the industrial area which was at the centre of the town.
There was a huge mix of factories which representative of many eras and purposes:

The Brewery conducted tours of the factory on Saturdays. They give out free beers: unfortunately some people take advantage of this and then attempt to drive home:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2FDont_drink_n_drive.jpg&hash=5761c77a17b191db551f9c127d8b24379a09bcab)
The Rector (he, he, he :D) decided that he didnt want to mix with the drunken drivers, so he made a quick turn right.
Cindys mother was becoming bored with the silence of this intolerable drive, so she decided to spice things up a little
Whats that building? she asked sweetly, picking the least palatable structure she could see:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2FPettingZoo.jpg&hash=6b9d39288e8a8248f14b6740983b72fe19404e10)
Err, its, ahh, um, a petting zoo
answered the Rector (he, he, he :D).
Cindys mother was pleased with the discomfort she was causing.
And that one dear, whats that for?
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2FIndoor_garden_Centre.jpg&hash=584d2ce9afd8ef2ea2b8726b93a086f76f371325)
Um, ahh, thats an indoor plant shop. The Rector (he, he, he :D) sweated
Can we stop? I want to get a new pot-plant for the window-sill? Cindy was delighted at tormenting his middle-class prudishness; so much so, that she didnt even notice that he had chosen not to answer her.
Ohhh look, how pretty and colourful! Cindys mother chirped. Whats that one sell?
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2FBalloon_factory.jpg&hash=75d728a49dddf85739e3a01db4ca1c12d08d8922)
Balloons.
Then we simply must stop, Cindys birthday is in two weeks; I bet I could get her some unusual birthday balloons for you to take to her.
I bet. The Rector (he, he, he :D) had rather had enough of this torment and turned the car around to go home. On the way out of town, they were forced to stop at the lights next to one of Galstons Retirement homes:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2FHuge_distraction.jpg&hash=c8ccb176139b7174161e379ff99360ed2f90f4a6)
Oh look, said Cindys mother, pretending to refer to the design of the Retirement home. It looks just like mine.
Indeed gasped the Rector (he, he, he :D).
He was indignant at this debauched display and was about to say something about smiting this devils town when he remembered that he was in fact driving his harlots mother around, so he could ill-afford to preach.
As they drove off towards Mona Vale, Cindys mother wished that there was such a billboard outside her Retirement Home; they could use the money saved on Disney for new Bingo cards
.
Next update we'll look at some of the nicer parts of Galston... ;)
LOL - you have a talent Matt325! The story and pictures that come with it are of an advanced quality. I admire how you combined this great collection of bats in the storyline. &dance
I would make a sensible comment but I am laughing too much. You and Colyn write such wonderful prose. I love the explanations of the factories and what a wonderful co incidence to have that wall decoration by the Benevolent Asylum.
I love this, Matt. &apls
WOW, my jaw is still on the floor :o Magnifique my friend. I just love everything :)
Great city!
Great stuff ... now for some quetsions ...
Where are these from ...

Thanks everyone. Glad it made you giggle :P
Colyn, the BATs, in order are:
1)Marcszar Wiessner Brewery: a stunning piece of work. http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=17319 (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=17319)
2) Emmerson Biggins Restaurant: Simgoobers Sleeze Pack03. Lots of amusing tit-bits ;) to liven the city http://www.simpeg.com/dload.php?action=file&file_id=348 (http://www.simpeg.com/dload.php?action=file&file_id=348)
3) Mail Distribution Centre: a Bat made by me ages ago (which I had completely forgotten about).
I had zoned for something else when this one popped up.
I'm going to re-lot (it's got some bugged and false dependencies from an old file that used to be in my plugins) and tweak the employment numbers (for some reason I had made it 6x6 CS$$ which is why I had forgotten about it, it should have been IHT$$$) and then post in the team room.
PS - I just realised how distracting Emmerson Biggins is....I placed the solar collector the wrong way around! :D ::) :D
QuoteGlad it made you giggle
Giggle? I nearly wet myself laughing.
Matt, did you get the Herbal FukitolTM plant, Goobergen Latex *and* Domino's to grow? (please say no please say no please say no). I am so envious!!! I'm liking how this is developing.
Thanks ... I got them and will wait for the last one ... :-\
Yes, Vab – you'll hate me...all industry grown (except the flour mill – that's a reward).
But in some of the pictures I grew things I have never seen – like the Maxis truck factory – which is an excellent industrial...demand was high in this city.
It also helps immensely to hold down the control key while zoning. Herbal FukitolTM is a 3x6, Canada dry a 6x6, Dominos Sugar a 4x7(?) CSX 8x8 etc, etc. So, when I want these things, I use high density and the control key: then always make historical so high-tech doesn't over-run everything.
UPDATE!
Galston isn't all doom and gloom.
In fact, it has a thriving population of 110,000 and growing.
As well as all of the industry, there is a compact, but dense CBD and many pleasant suburbs in the hills overlooking the valley.
It is true, Galston lacks a lot of the entertainment and character of Mona Vale, but it does show a city with a vibrant mix of all classes.
Now that the Rector (he, he, he :D) is safely returned to Mona Vale, let's have a quick look at some of the things he missed on his tour of the city.
I know, you have to put up with me talking, but heck, there are some pictures, and rest assured, the Rector (he, he, he :D) will grace us again.
Near some of the apartments in the industrial area, terrace housing clings to the foothills
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2Fterraces_step_down_the_hill.jpg&hash=1b4231d7debefd0599d6b5af6a40efdc6993f0ec)
The game has come along way. Ponder for a moment on the image below.
Imagine the results of using just Maxis' 2 or 3 row homes down a steep hill like this on the Vanilla <shudder> version.
The image below shows mostly student accommodation for the nearby university. The students also like the fact that they buy Herbal Fukitol wholesale just across town
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2FTerraces_and_uni.jpg&hash=f1f0abee3dfd3b87950f364b82ecb1fa7a0c4cb4)
Just near the university, which is relatively close to the factories we saw earlier, some of the breweries have been converted to museums and other places of learning. This saw a gradual improvement of the desirability of some of the surrounding areas.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2FAn_old_brewerysite.jpg&hash=79ba2e868f868c85c3ebd738a0cdeab2868d5818)
The stadium provides some weekend entertainment, although the view beyond the cedars is not overly bucolic.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2FBaseball_industry.jpg&hash=5713f58604bd926e7cad41010dcf76fe99d4e4d8)
On the other side of the University, Corporations, whose factories churn out the endless muck in the industrial areas, have set up regional headquarters here in Galston. This small CBD goes some way to soaking up regional demand...also managed to get some COBB apartments to grow like weeds (for years for me, nothing, nada, zip....now in this city the grow everywhere!!! ::))
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FGalston%2FCompact_but_dense_CBD.jpg&hash=c1558debf55a021e1f75901f521b93e7f5f96979)
Galston's CBD actually sits in its own small hollow in the North East corner of the map next to Mount Victoria. As the land rises sharply away from this hollow, high density development is no longer suitable and gives way to more compact suburban housing which can better cling to the sides of the hills

Now of course at the top of the mountain are some of the wealthier homes which houses the 'Managers' and 'Executives'; the 'Captains' of Galston's industry (and, lets not forget the Drug Baron of the Herbal FukitolTM factory)

And finally – at the very top of Mont Victoria, almost near the tree line is Shosaloza's observatory and research centre:

And for the final picture, a quick snapshot of the region:

The suburb of Lawson (where the Rector (he, he, he :D)) lives, is to the extreme left, Mona Vale and Naremburn can be seen on the plains, St Leonards and the borough of Dural are at the centre of the picture and, separated from St Leonards by Mount Victoria, Galston is at the furthest right.
FABULOUS update - and I don't hate you, I'm just crushed because there are just a few industrials I can't get to grow (I did get the Canada Dry bldg today, which made me happy). Thanks for the size info on Domino's. I've zoned a couple of areas and hopefully I can coax one to grow for me. I think I also discovered that most custom industrials only grow if they're high density. You have a couple of bldgs I'm coveting - hopefully I can describe them well enough so you can tell me what they are ... and not ignore my pleas (begging, whining, whatever you want to call 'em). They're both 'scrapers - one is behind what looks like the Aramack bldg (at least that's what the logo looks like). It has a domed, glass-looking roof. The other is just to the left of that (in the same pic). You have two growing side-by-side behind the dark bldg. They have what look like spires on the top.
Again love what you're doing with your region (and thanks in advance for the bldg info).
Hi Mattb, I want to say that I enjoyed every picture in this CJ, you have a very well choosen buildings selection
And I love your sense of humour too $%Grinno$%
You put a lot of detail into your cities. They are a joy to look at.
I've noticed that you've been able to grow both of the brutalist skyscrapers that I made, Administration & Records and the other one &apls. I've only once had one grow.
It is my turn to ask where you downloaded something. Where did you get those American houses, the green one, the white with dormers, and the blue shingles etc?
Good stuff ... you should look at Region Census to get better shots of your cities and Region.
Great pictures(!) and fantastic snow_picture!
You're a true master &dance. The layout of the streets and houses and trees and all - it's just perfect. The houses in the snow are fantastic, as is how you 'dress up' the region. Excellent! &apls
Vab, I'm not sure what the one on the left is, but the one with the glass and the round top looks like Trottier Trading. It's a CO$$$ Maxis building.
Thanks everyone for the lovely words.
No update today (I've been batting instead #stsfd·), just thought I'd give some answers
Vab, jestarr was correct - it is a Maxis building (I think it is on the Houston tileset).
The other one is Simgoobers' blue skyy office : http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=13203 (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=13203)
Jen The skyscrapers you made are delightful. They've both popped up at the start of zoning, so I've made them historical immediately. Corner buildings are always slow to coax into growth.
The houses are in the team room - they're part of Cycledogg's beautiful set which I hope I'm displaying with justice
Ok, excuse me if this is the wrong place, or I amk not looking hard enough, but, could you kindly direct me to where I can obtain the circled overlay/etc textures in this pic? Thanks in advance!
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg292.imageshack.us%2Fimg292%2F6765%2Foverlayetcfe3.jpg&hash=c0b511cf41c54ef3196e2fe7ccec4b2cccf1a9d0)
Wow. The industrial shots are absolutely top notch.
I really appreciate the fact you have zoomed in to shoot the buildings, it really shows off the detail.
Very nice work putting it all together!
Those textures and overlays are part of the Cycledogg Texture packs.
Great pictures Mattb  Keep it up ;)

Awesome simply Awesome
great update dude &apls
Thanks jestarr and matt!
(follows DT off to download)
what snow mod are you using on this that acts seasonal?
You know, after looking again through some of those residential shots,
I'd say those are one of the best examples I've ever seen of building homes on slopes.
The way those homes terrace up and down the hills is just excellent.
Nice Work!
Very very nice what you are making here Matt, I have been enjoying the visit and will be back for more.
Thankyou all for the kind words - much appreciated. ;D
@Citynut - I'm not using any snow mod per se. I've swampers textures which I occasionally bring into the plugins, but largely what I think you are referring to is the ingame easter egg which causes snow on December 25. If you get Buggis extra cheats mod, you can just type in 'snow' to get the results you see.
UPDATE: TURRAMURRA
The Rector (he, he, he :D) is busy preaching in Mona Vale, so it's up to me to show you around some of the other areas of Shosaloza. Don't fret, the Rector (he, he, he :D) will return soon ;)
Let's get cracking...
Located south of St Leonards and Galston, and to the east of Mona Vale, Turramurra occupies the highest ground in all of the region. It is essentially somewhere most Shosalozans drive through on their way to the coastal town of Newport. Those tourists that do stop here are attracted the scree, lakes, hot springs and glacial pools of this upland region
Turramurra is home to about 15,000 Sims and is literally divided into two parts; with the trecherous Mt Warning separating the two.
On the northern and western edges, closer to Mona Vale, St Leonards and Dural, the wealthier reside.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FNicehomesDuralBorder.jpg&hash=9fc615eaf746cf6098585631b4c8c12ebd388ab5)
Don't be fooled by these homes: Turramurra has had a difficult image to shake.
Turramurra was largely working class and isolated, and it desperately needed something to attract sims to its town.
The mayor, keen to improve the more vibrant northern and western edges, appointed the "Shosaloza Tidy Towns Committee" to make over the northern edge of town on the Dural border.
This committee has broad civic powers to enact and enforce building codes. The first decision was to tour all of the region for architectural inspiration.
Clearly they liked this architectural design as used in the main shopping precinct, and naturally such chaste design is filled mostly with trite and kitsch shops and cottage businesses.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FHighStreetTurramurra.jpg&hash=38d2be69d722087f0d722c637203c7450ff75606)
There are still some buildings that the committee didn't make over: here is one of my all time favourites (thanks SWI21 )
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FTourMatriesse.jpg&hash=ae83731c23166d8bd8f400bae2ade25c88396821)
But there is at least one thing of interest on the High Street that the committe didn't wreck.
This bill-board was placed by the local smash repair business. It appears to be working:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FHighSt_billboard.jpg&hash=cd215996b617fb5289d0f9d9642ae18003c92988)
The committee also choose the re-design for the areas train stations.
The trains had always played a vital role in connecting this town with the rest of the region and so naturally, the committe thought that the stations needed to reflect to engineering achievements of building rail at such high grades as well as the pride of the locals.
The committee also choose highly individual names for each of the stations to reflect what it called the vibrant 'local villages' of Turramurra. Let's look at what they came up with.
Turramurra Station:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FThetrainstationisalifelinefortheses.jpg&hash=01ba0b54fd88e51bb3c31e5f6aa91950ec50d4eb)
North Turramurra Station:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FNorthTurramurraStation.jpg&hash=f99adfdc2ce6d74cac4a801c90e7d78bd3c2a513)
East Turramurra Station:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FSthTurramurraStn_pub.jpg&hash=247e53f8c61301d97155317ccbb5246cfb94a872)
Aren't committees wonderful? Oh, and in case it is not evident, each station has a different floral emblem and a plaque outlining the area's unique history! :P
Here's what a station looked like BEFORE the committee got it's mitts on it (this is main connection to Mona Vale on the Western side of Turramurra)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FMainRoadRailtoMonaVale.jpg&hash=d5beb49b58197c17b94791853d28d0c3791f099a)
Sadly, the committee have ear-marked this small green building for an upgrade and change of name: expect 'West Turramurra' train station to open some time in 2016 &mmm
The reason cited by the committee for this upgrade is the business park to the north of the picture which employs almost 3500 residents from Turramurra and neighbouring Mona Vale.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FSomeofthehightechemploymentoptions.jpg&hash=b74281a1080cbc0944471ec8307eee3b1a57c899)
So, surely with shops, nice homes, rail and high tech businesses Turramurra isn't all that bad?
Well, let's look at the other side of Mt Warning. There is only one way there; through the 6km Mt Warning tunnel which has a steep grade straight through the mountain.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FTunnel.jpg&hash=13c9557a02e338670aa20cb30dec97376cf03c24)
Higher we go - past the tree line:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FThegrassturnstorock.jpg&hash=63fcacc5b0187f2b7ae764c0242ae3288e3832f5)
Higher still:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FTherockturnstosnow.jpg&hash=21dd39ffba28bec8ca8e63d2b94aa83f65ebf2ab)
And presto: on the other side
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FHell.jpg&hash=21dd05f91a0da4bec9cf70de5223d5b837492b75)
Don't be fooled by the buildings and attempt at gardens. We are some 1,600 meters higher than in the previous pictures and are now in the scree fields of the southern side of Mt Warning.
These wind-blown rocks and pebbles bake and glare in summer and form a dangerous trap in winter buried under snow for unsuspecting hikers.
The residents have attempted to plant trees to temper this harsh environment, but most have died in the bleak conditions
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2Fhellsuburbs.jpg&hash=c3ed99d0a0d88333f27e27649856b31f793a8b12)
The residents here have to contend with avalanches and rock slips, so the homes are spaced well apart:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FLookingdownthehillofhell.jpg&hash=570a09a6cf4ab0b2657d39f225206335acbd7557)
There are, however, some nicer homes:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FSomeoftheflashierhomes.jpg&hash=31a2f97920674e628443174006846f0d8c5e9553)
This one belongs to one of the managers of the nearby mill (one of the few remaining working mills in Shosaloza):
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FThemill.jpg&hash=3991c80d0c184b09ca382de8539afba2b891067f)
Often, in the shaded gullies, the snow rarely melts for more than 6 weeks in the year:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FDoesthesnowevermelt.jpg&hash=bb6c7817d84de1754e06d74a3714dbec5e50a461)
So, like the Inuits, the hapless folk of South Turramurra have several different words for snow and ice. There are really only two seasons up here.
Cold:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FSeason-cold.jpg&hash=b15c26e63de13b3be561bee3f911c320016f60f3)
Bloody cold:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FSeason-colder.jpg&hash=f79bf5840d225c42efb778e81a1752ae91f1c304)
So what is the attraction to live here?
Well part of the answer relates to the fact that severe and prolonged in-breeding has caused horrific deformities amongst the population, so they simply can't show their faces amongst normal people.
See for yourselves:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2Fturrumurra_folks.jpg&hash=3dce0e4706adf3f213a877e424e38d780f5a5b96)
The other part of the answer is tourism: many hikers and mountain bikers come to these parts to enjoy the Victoria National park, which is filled with glaciers, glacial lakes, hot springs, scree trails and wildlife.
Many of these are backpackers, and so choose modest accommodation:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FBudgettouristlodgings.jpg&hash=a0f8b1c86f245a7610ce83cdb53b706704364ee4)
This also ensures some of the more normal looking folk have gainful employment cleaning up after tourists; you can also see the Irish Pub down the road in the larger photo which hosts many back-packer brawls on a Saturday night.
And now, some of what the tourists come to see:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FLongviewoflake.jpg&hash=90442bd55e80533bc34f396e79a6dbd95a468a6a)
Longview Lake in the height of summer. Fed by thermal springs, these lakes never freeze and are a constant 50C:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FSnowmeltfeedsthissmalllakehighonthe.jpg&hash=bc3dc4809ce63b2499c2b1880fb9687849470309)
During the spring, melting snow fills the lake and they increase two-fold in size, often cascading down the scree as beautiful seasonal water falls.
The abundance of water from the top of the mountain has ensured that farmland thrives on the southern edge of Turramurra, although some folk try to eek out an existence on scree fields. Often with mixed results:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FToughtimesonthefarm.jpg&hash=b925ee66d1ecb630bedca5474f9a30e407cdb8c5)
But let's leave this inbred mountain environ and look at the more productive farmland...
A tulip farm, (fallow for the winter):
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FTulipfarmliesfallow.jpg&hash=e95ae0255d1e78158c403f55516a64bad935a98e)
Some of the other farms:

But also, here in the valleys of South Turramurra, grow cold climate grapes and it is home to another large employer of the region - this Chateau supports the small borough surrounding it:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FTheChateau.jpg&hash=b8f0779098d4db7f98831280992c187650abf38a)
Some of the borough below the chateau...

Many tourists also stay here as well touring some of the vineyards. Obviously, the accommodation this sort of tourist takes is of a slightly higher standard than the Holiday Inn:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FTurramurra%2FMoretouristtrapsontheroadbacktoMona.jpg&hash=2f4282d98bc7b0902b091ee526dd7093d966c970)
No Irish pubs near this Inn $%Grinno$% ; Jackie's Cabin serves only the finest wine and food to the well heeled of Shosaloza.
Hope you enjoyed the pictures, next update, Newport
I love that blue/green house in the first picture... it looks like one of yours, has it been released yet or is it in your "personal collection?"
Great job Matt!
&apls again ... superb storytelling ... damn ... I find myself hitting the + key so many times and even a few pgdns ... great stuff Matt ... .... maybe just give us the grid reference so that I can find myself on the map.
wow you have done a wonderfull job with the houses, the roads and streets look amazing, great use of the trees, excellent pics,i love where you put the kabin it looks pretty there
Wonderfull job. Had to cover the keyboard, so it was not destroyed by droolling....
I love your story and wait the Rector again with interest.
@cabraBuitre - the blue/green house is one of a new set by cycledogg that is unergoing testing at BSC at the moment.
Great looking pictures and a nice story to go with them, very enjoyable.
Hmm, and the cold climate grapes where do I get those, would certainly make a change for my farm in the Norwegian mountains. :D
Nice suburbs! I'm really digging the house with the green clapboard siding, and green roof, in the Victorian Semi Italianate style!

Can't wait for more! ;)
Thanks all for the comments
Colyn - I still haven't installed the region view thingy - but this last update was played on grid C2
Kwakelaar - it's funny when say cold climate grapes - I think they refer to the early ripening tendencies (mid-late August in your part of the world) rather than the actual cold tolerance of the vine.
And yes, the houses are very, very beautiful and exquisitely crafted - as Barby said, the ones in the first picture are all part of a large set by Cycledogg.
These low, mid and high wealth homes, apartments, terraces commercials etc will feature very heavily in this CJ, so keep your eyes peeled #stsfd·

That is fantastic
I love that there are so many trees in the area, it looks awesmome
I was always wondering where I would ever see the burnt lodgepole pine used....
Thank you very much for giving me great ideas, Mattb325! This is incredible. You guys are the members I have in mind when I upload a map with the warning: For advanced users only. It seems that nothing can stop you from building great cities, let alone some intimidating terrain...
Wonderful update! You have a fantastic city there! There are great rural areas!
Wow, what an update.
Too many great shots to call my favorite, but I really like the work you did on the thermal springs. And I also like the tree selections you have chosen. And of course more excellent work building on slopes. And also....er sorry, I tend to drone on. But you get the picture. Nice stuff!
Great update Matt. The story , the pictures, the inbreeds, all fits well - a pleasure to read and watch!
Fantastic update(s) Matt.
I haven't visited a while and missed a fantastic story about the Rector (he, he, he :D)
Great to see how all these great industries grew. It's a painstaking way to play but I use it too and love it.
Those Cycledogg homes, where can I find them?
Best laugh: picture with billboard and car crash. :D :D
(did you place that solar station on that pic again in the wrong way?)
Nik-Nik
Nik-Nik asked:
QuoteThose Cycledogg homes, where can I find them?
At the moment they are in testing to BSC members only. Cycledogg is making some changes so once he has finished he will no doubt release them. He has released the bus stop and train station as wekk as the Wagon Works so they are on the way.
well Matt, I didn't realize you had a shosaloza thread too. I'm loving your pictures and tour by the Rector :D I like your playing style and integration of so much flora in the city. Your farms, a couple of pages ago, are brilliant.
Thank you all for the lovely comments and thank you beskhu3epm for making this map. To say it's challenging is an under statement!!!!! $%Grinno$%
UPDATE NEWPORT
Today is a very quick update as I've not had too much time to play the game, but I thought we'd look at Newport.
Newport is located on C3 and is highly sought after in Shosaloza because of the natural beauty within its boundaries; waterfalls, quiet bays, steep hills and serendipitous views abound.
15,000 lucky sims call this place home and to them it is paradise.
Newport is a favoured holiday spot for the well heeled older Sims of Shosaloza and has very strict development controls in place.
First, I thought I'd show you the waterfalls which spill from the alpine scree lakes in Turramurra to make their way to the sea.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FNewport_Turramurraborder.jpg&hash=d1febf30203711cd1c32855acd251515d9f31d0c)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FNewport_Turramurraborder1.jpg&hash=99a28273afac593371c73bc17e6125244d8151eb)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FNewport_Turramurraborder2.jpg&hash=035ce35c811b2b54f33d65a6921499e87e80339f)
And finally, the falls dart under the Great Coast Road before spilling into the bay. Under the shade of towering trees this area is mossy and green:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FNewport_Turramurraborder3.jpg&hash=f69e26767cdef1fc5714995a91d579b4fd5ce5d4)
From the Great Coast Road, tourists follow The Serpentine, which can either take them into Newport or back up the mountain to Turramurra. For now, we will follow the road to Newport and see the coastal areas
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FSerpentinesea.jpg&hash=b290569269dd5683011d0d05a3f04f7d52a45fb4)
The Serpentine is one of the more photographed coastal roads in Shosaloza. Apartments line the road close to the centre of Newport:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FSerpentinemeetssea.jpg&hash=675bad6d906ae048b785ed9353097ea6ed81da12)
Apartments cling to the slopes where they can.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FSerpentineapartments1.jpg&hash=afaa89e148594190ec7a2e160478c490aeb2c163)
This area has been popular since the 19th Century:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FSerpentineapartments.jpg&hash=292213a5fd47cb55c24a448b18ad7f57f15ddd1d)
However, The Serpentine gets its name from its sharp twists and turns and can be precarious for drivers. Of course, the views can be amazing:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FTerraceswithaview.jpg&hash=fd1a4b18312bc622e29e33aaa771a8db88ee398b)
As the Serpentine wends its way into the centre of Newport, the most exclusive and commodious of the 19th Century apartments were built with direct views to the bay from all principal rooms:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FApartmentslooktosea.jpg&hash=e3316ecb483dfda8518819bdf7b796490d23f0c7)
The old mill is now a marvellous tourist attraction where ladies take tea and eat scones (pronounced 'scoanez') with jam and cream:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FMill-nowamuseum.jpg&hash=c5ad7418ce18c19dcbe8242e5d2392df27913336)
But of course, the tourists mostly see this: the posh hotels the form the major part of Newport's downtown:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FPoshhotelsNewport.jpg&hash=fd59018236f775b67719114e16a56e58cb061309)
From here, the Serpentine winds its way to St Bartholomew's On Sea (so named after the Church of the same name). Situate directly on the water, this is the most popular church in all of Shosaloza for weddings; and of course who wouldn't want to be a spring bride here:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FStBartholemews.jpg&hash=a534bfbb83bba832968d6f4251184aab7f171f7b)
(Personally I don't care whether they're spring brides, shotgun marriages or single parents – so long as the sims breed and help me get to 1,000,000 then I'm happy)
To the left of St Bartholomew's On Sea, the road winds towards the Alford's Point, the most easterly projection in Newport:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FLazysummerday.jpg&hash=1e95b38ecb6138f4ae3ef42fe49068b220a706c7)
At the end of this point, some of the wealthiest of Shosaloza have their Summer homes:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FWealthyhomesNewportPoint.jpg&hash=323b6183b5df482d2b491a01a92087765a8de24d)
Being exposed to the ocean and at the foot of some very steep mountains, Newport is quite often very overcast:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FCloudyafternoon1.jpg&hash=e7fd29fa971953f6286179932f89611f520cbb1b)
The sea takes on a beautiful glow as the storm approaches:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FCloudyafternoon2.jpg&hash=e6f575734147af863ae4f8bdd34f64fd85d9a274)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FNewport%2FCloudyafternoon3.jpg&hash=b4122e3f6f24e9f64860b5a100e7c3764a19c2ec)
So, with that small tour, I'd like to leave you with some atmospheric shots of Newport.
Dawn:

paradise indeed :sunny:, looks like a lovely spot to relax and soak up some nature. btw, what did you do to your pics, they look so vivid and pleasant to the eye
Very nice Matt! I really like how you've shaped the city to match the terrain!
I've seen lots MORE houses that I don't recognize... I will assume they are from CP's upcoming set, and that's really exciting!
Also, the lighter green trees found in pictures 6, 10, 12, 13, and 15... I don't recognize those as something that has been released yet, are those from an upcoming set as well?
I've really liked this Shosaloza series because it really shows that the creators of such amazing creations are quite adept at creating cities as well!! Keep up the good work!
Great stuff ... tell me what water Mod do you use ...
CabraBuitre ... those trees are all from Cycledoog ... it is the seasonal versions of his pines I think ...
And here is the quote of the day ..

Excellent update, Matt. Wonderful use of the scenery and also I see some JRJ style terraforming. I have still to tackle this city and keep putting it off ::)
Fantastic pictures &apls
I too have been wondering what to do with the C3 city, but your effort is very inspiring. The scenic pictures with the waterfalls are great. Thank you for sharing this.
Very nice update Matt.
Love that winding road. In pic 10 I even see some fences to protect the unwary driver to fall all away down to the cliffs below. You are a good mayor!
I love the waterfall pics and I also love the way in you shoot the pics. I noticed that in every pic (apart from the waterfall series and the dusk and dawn pics) there is the sea. It gives the city a very nice feel.
Nik-Nik
Wonderful work!! Great river and seaside!
Very nice Matt, some great shots of your fantastic skills as a mayor in Simcity.
It all seems very lush and green thus your enviromentalist lobby must be doing their job very well.
Thankyou all for the comments.
Some quick answers to the comments - in no particular order here $%Grinno$%
*The water mod is pegs clipper
*The trees are all Cycledoggs props (the light green ones are the spring versions of the larch, elm and oaks). I also use the flora mode versions, but obviously these don't change with the seasons.
*The plop lots that I spray around are Kants' rural development kit, Andreas' Cycledogg lots and pegs lots (both original and some modified to include a cycledogg base texture as well as some of my own trees).
*The houses I use are a mixture of Cycledoogs, swi21, SG, jen_p, gascooker, haarlemergold, odd from sweden, stephenh/sfbt, xannepan, porkissimo, vanderaap, DT and mine. So some will indeed be shown that won't be available just yet.
*With the pictures, I had previously just allowed MS paint to convert them into jpegs (I know, I know, sacrilege), so I now use MS 'Picture it' which gives slightly better quality and control.
*For all of these pictures I brightened by 7% and increased the contrast by 10% and then applied a soften of 5-7%. For the summer pictures I added a purple tint of about 8% to give that languid, hazy look. For the spring set I applied a pale yellow tint of about 8% to counter SC4's pink tone preference, and the autumn ones got a beige tint of the same value
Wow Matt, you made some pieces of art again.
I like also that your Shosaloza has many Dutch houses in a non-Dutch environment ! Feels as home...
The shots involving the sea water just blow me away.
I can't believe how real the water looks.
The waterfall areas with ploppable water are really well done too!
And the developed areas ....well they speak for themselves.
Thanks for the comments: Sebes...Sydney has many, many Dutch buildings as well as English - prior to being called New South Wales, we were known as New Holland ;)
Well, I was looking through the collection of images, and I know I keep promising that the Rector
(he, he, he :D) will return and, gosh-darn it he will, but for the time being I've grabbed a few happy snaps which bore a common theme.
This update will be brief; just a few images of Hunters Hill on tile D3.
Hunters Hill has become quite the metropolis with about 120,000 Sims.
It never had the planning controls of neighbouring Newport and with water being a popular aspect in Shosaloza, boomed upwards in a mass of steel, concrete and glass.
So,
UPDATE - HUNTERS HILL PART I

...sailing that is (never mix coke and sailing $%Grinno$%) ....
Sorry this was a very quick update, but it was the Australia Day long weekend and I was fortunate enough to be out on Sydney harbour on a perfect mid-summer's day (warm, 24C, breezy and a brilliant blue sky) on a friend's boat.
The group of ten of us took the boat from its mooring at Bobbin Head up Middle Harbour and eventually to Berowra Waters on the Hawkesbury river.
There we spent the day fishing and swimming (the brave only: the water is only 14C, so a tad cold for swimming) and the night drinking and dining and barbequing the only fish caught between 10 of us (thankfully the girls packed chicken): sailing back the next morning.
It was a perfect weekend, so there was little time for sim city.
For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere battling winter....here's a photo of the beach taken through the banksia trees we stopped at within the Ku-ring-gai National Park near the town of Brooklyn. Less than 30 minutes at from all of the concrete and steel of one of the world's largest cities, you can still find deserted spots to relax:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FHunters%2520Hill%2Fbwaters1.jpg&hash=3f6aaa285900bba65955ab011dbbe32024e59c83)
We will visit Hunters Hill properly in another update.
Quick, small but concise update. Perfect in all aspects, except for that pier placement. It must be placed almost at water level or it will look weird, almost like a base jump pier ;)
I love that shot of the building by Odisanker...that has to be one of the most detailed skyscrapers I've seen...great work with these pics, Matt &apls
That looks so awesome!! I love that first picture!! Keep it up mate
Wonderful pictures from the seaside!
I have to say I love the way you use and abuse of trees $%Grinno$%
Fantastics pictures overall &apls
Matt325:
Is Frogfaces' Administration and Records Building available to download anywhere?
Thanks.
Yes it is rather cold here and an empty beach is only available in the midst of a winterstorm in Holland, I am rather jealous now.
Short but great update.
I love your city!!!!!!Its very very very beautiful :thumbsup:But i want know..
When you have this trees and i don't know certain house, its your creation??
:D Fantastic CJ (just read through the entire thing). I enjoyed the little gags and that community of deformed citizens...Can't wait for more stories and some stunning custom content!
I'd love to stop by that balloon factory, too...
I love the closeup angles of your shots. And the greenery. And most of the other stuff too.
Love this one.......great work and awesome pictures. Great choice of houses and very realistically placed. I love your houses, and I'm glad you made them $$, I use them in my city, thanks. I can't wai tuntil cycledogg houses are out, they look great as well!
Matt, Huntershill is a dream town
But with that beach picture you're very cruel to us on this side of the planet... &sly
Thank you everyone for all of your kind words. Glad to see that people are still visiting my experiment &hlp
UPDATE. THE WATERWAYS OF SHOZALOSA
I realise I haven't updated for quite some time, but I haven't abandoned this project. The population is approaching 650K (I have played this map some more since taking the below picture) and not all tiles have been developed (most are still empty as you can see)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMountRobsonCSX-1170150848.jpg&hash=57a8373d71bffe622e10453a22bbcda3e6adea12)
Mona Vale as you can see has a huge commercial and residential population along the valley floor.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FHunters%2520Hill%2FCity-MonaVale.jpg&hash=9f5d8f47d516c85c1fac13afed6578aed77534cb)
This development is spilling over into neighbouring Balmoral which, on the smallest point next to Mona Vale has seen residential towers spring up:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FHunters%2520Hill%2FCity-Balmoral.jpg&hash=0f596f346d009d9f694493569f6445a7bcc7c4e2)
Next to Balmoral is Newport; pristine and light density:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FHunters%2520Hill%2FCity-Newport.jpg&hash=04db45fc5b29aac6c258dfb783d1bc59661e1703)
And finally Hunters Hill itself:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FHunters%2520Hill%2FCity-HuntersHill.jpg&hash=ff2f4b15513d4b2bde5bac8288bfad0850920eb8)
In the main; the tile of Mona Vale is far and away the largest employment tile on the map – many of the Sims on the above tiles commute by ferry or road back to Mona Vale for work. But Hunters Hill, pleasantly situated on the water, is also becoming an employment hub given that it is right next to the industrial Galston tile.
For this update, I'll show some additional shots around Hunters Hill.

With water views being scarce in Shosaloza, seemingly every point on the peninsula is crowded with high rise development.

Perfect spot for an office don't you think?
Thanks all for viewing  :)
Oh goodie ... I like this ... thanks for sharing.
Lovely pics, Matt. The views from the penthouses must be spectacular.
Very nice update. Love the towering buildings. Everything looks super.
Any ideas as to when cycledogg may be releasing his houses? &Thk/(
Some great pictures you have made there! There are also wonderful regionoverviews!
Really nice set of shots.
The zoomed in shots are just wonderful.
Awesome pictyres Matt
The over-road highrises rock! &dance
Ho ! Very beautiful ! I like specially the 8th picture of the last update !
Good work !
The region view is quite spectacular with all the colors of the trees and this very densly packed city in the valley. Some very nice images from Mona Vale, very well done this city with all the different bats ranging from rowhouses to the tall skyscrapers.
Sorry for not coming often , but i enjoy your work mate  . Very good joob you done . Spectacular over view . Pics are very good too . &apls &apls Keep going.
You've got an extremely well chosen plugins folder there. Everything fits together so well.
Wow, those are some great looking cities. I like your use of seasonal trees. And your selection of towers (and other buildings) is amazing.
[rooker1: the cycledogg houses are a work-in-progress. They will be released in bits and pieces when the bits and pieces are done. The small low-wealth houses are already on the LEX. A large set of medium wealth houses will be next (probably within the next month.)]
Beautiful scenes!
Joel
You have a very unique nice style. I like it, might want to get a slope mod though.
You have a very nice relaxed style Matt, with those old rowhomes along the coast mixed with greenery and the way your city gradually transition from pristine moutainsides to high density downtown. I also like the forrest stream with the waterfalls, a very vell made forrest area.
There is one thing that bugs me thow, that you have those ugly U-drive-it markers in alot of your pictures. Other than that, a very nice region and good pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks all for the comments
Glad my rambling, unstructured style appeals visually (and yes I do forget those annoying UDI things from time to time).
UPDATE MOSMAN
I thought I would show some pictures of Mosman on the D2 tile. The region population stands at about 820,000 so there has been some growth since last I posted, despite the fact that RL has severely interrupted my playing time :angrymore:
I must confess that for quick hits of growth I go into the valley floor (Mona Vale and neighbouring Naremburn) and let Cobb, NDEX and the HK Asia teams battle it out with Maxis stage 7/8 buildings to see which can over-run my cities with their giant apartments &apls), but when I wish to challenge myself I open one of the hillier tiles and start building.
Mosman is one such hilly tile. The settlers here were attracted to the high Turramurra plateau falling abruptly to the ocean below and the open bracken and heath fields on the southern exposure. It has made for challenging building.
An overview of the tile:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMosman%2FCity-Mosman.jpg&hash=c76b5a35f28f8ce81cbf8f4be19ade07c7b37c92)
The primary connection to the rest of the region is by rail (here we see the train to Turramurra):
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMosman%2FMosmanTrainout.jpg&hash=959ffe84cf22dd548dfe85b841d8f716ffe375f0)
Mosman is split into separate buroughs or villages, each with its own high street. The reason for this is that whilst much of the terrain may appear green and undulating, it is extremely steep, so road and rail connect the villages to each other and to the rest of the region. There is no shortage of employment as Hunters Hill, Galston and Turramurra bound this tile.
This the high street of Strathalbyn village as seen from the peak of the mountain.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMosman%2FMosmanviewdownthemountain.jpg&hash=024cf411175a55019c96927e1d2c6d3c90704b7c)
On the opposite side is the village of Westmooreland which, with its flatter ground houses some additional industry (it also closest to the industrial city of Galston)
The gas plant:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMosman%2FMosmangasplant.jpg&hash=35d5e947021a94237d5c840707c51d8747c7d469)
More industry:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMosman%2FMosmanindustrycemetary.jpg&hash=e55b5f74b49bb66b89876d6dd24692bf88ff6119)
The homes of those whose wealth is dependant on that industry:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMosman%2FMosman5x5largehomes.jpg&hash=91d78c5b12058b50d45fc5e52dd8fd9f5a6cf602)
And, the high street of Westmooreland village; the mansions which abound are testimony to those who slave in the factories of neighbouring Galston (can you say 'Comrade?') $%Grinno$% :
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMosman%2FMosmanmansions.jpg&hash=6be8266f0c9cde5281f913fd914391679d8a74dd)
But the largest of all of the villages is that of Forest Lodge, which is halfway down the slope and has dramatic views across the water to headlands of Hunters Hill. Here is the High Street of Forest Lodge:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMosman%2FMosmanHighSt.jpg&hash=e35eb562dfd0de7e153031debb1932d4c89e3791)
This quickly spills into general suburbia:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMosman%2FMosmanhighstsuburbia.jpg&hash=386ff44cd867d3687561d3da56004f331c0316c4)

Which, of course turns into bushland (this is how Forest Lodge gets its name)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMosman%2FMosmandwdssportsctrandwater.jpg&hash=2189fc010f67ec60cd4bc983d9b464ba1f0d5a58)

Further below Forest lodge is the port, but this will be shown in future updates ;)
Thanks for viewing!
Great ... I love it and I am wondering how much lag you must have with all those trees.
Super pics and I love your descriptions.
Man all those different trees make your pictures really cool! The last picture, with the seawater, is just a dream....
Great pictures, I love the trees, the way they are placed looks very realistic.
Robin
&apls Great pics and your forest is just way too good . Great job.
Thanks all for the comments.
Colyn, the lag is noticeable - believe me. I have 950MB of plugins on a 512MB Ram machine. Sometimes it can be around 1+ minute when trying to open the transport menu. I only use so many tree props on tiles that I don't intend to grow beyond 50,000 sims.
However the following has helped immensely:
- Datpacker
- CPs trees as opposed to Pegs trees. Sounds crazy, but when I use predominantly Pegs trees the lag is worse as he programmed his to change at the start of each season, so on Sep 1, March 1, Dec 1, June 1 etc a whole tile of Pegs trees almost grinds to a halt. CP has made his trees change at varying times by botonical model so it spreads the pain
As the population of the region climbs higher the lag on even new tiles is worse, but this could be the NAM trying to calculate journeys between tiles.
Unfortunately I don't enough about the mechanics of the game to make that a true assertion.I last left off promising to show pictures of the port.
Water views are prized in Shosaloza and Mosman abounds in these, but there is also the over-riding need for employment and efficient transportation of products from the industrial centres of Glaston and St Leonards as well as shipping the raw materials from the farmlands of the area. With it's blind, curved bay sheltered on either side of steep hills, Mosmans' Neutral Bay was chosen as the best spot for ships to anchor.
UPDATE MOSMAN II: NEUTRAL BAY
The steep terrain around the bay makes large scale industrial port building almost impossible. In keeping with the mantra of not trashing the existing environment, very delicate terraforming was done to level the area immediately around the bay. Using street tiles, I managed to get the area approximately 5-6 tiles deep in some parts and a minimum of tiles wide in other areas.
However, despite this, the port is still quite busy. A long shot as seen from the Turramurra border, looking down the mountain across Forest Lodge
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMosman%2FNeutral%2520Bay%2Fport_mountain.jpg&hash=bcc508ef3efad573562f5a654936ef0e3e7fd99a)
Coming down the mountain further and as Forest Lodge blurs into Neutral Bay, one can start to appreciate how steep the grade is:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMosman%2FNeutral%2520Bay%2FTerraces_Port.jpg&hash=f038203d6a0bd9943ca24f49fad2ec99da0f6608)
Terraces and shopping streets follow the road and cliffs and provide abundant workers for the piers:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMosman%2FNeutral%2520Bay%2FTerraces_Port1.jpg&hash=655500da0d5e98ccf80e305bea87370d9157a0f5)

In the port area itself, manufacturing industries have set up shop (I even had a maxis Kiwi flooring grow)

Further away from the port is what started it all. In times past, Neutral Bay was a favoured drop off for fishermen. Now days, it is an expensive seafood restaurant:

And lastly, an overview of the Mosman tile:

Just over 40,000 Sims live here and have helped push the Region to 907,000 Sims.
Thanks for viewing
Great shots and good stuff on the numbers.
Interesting photo's! Considering the environment I think you did a VERY good job there &apls.
However I think your roads are too steep though... Imagine trucks with cargo rolling down the mountian... hide!!! ()lurker()
wonderfull pictures  I really like the way you've build your cities
Excellent pics, Matt. You make me very envious of your development skills. &apls
Very interesting update and nice little port.
Robin
Thanks again for the comments. They are great.
Sebes, the Sims are such terrible drivers :D - thankfully it's a game and no-one gets hurt....there are some roads which are too steep, but the grade on this tile is very deceiving....I would hate to live in Sim land, believe me!
Now, I am edging ever closer to the MILLION mark. (About 970,000) :o
One of the earlier tiles I built on was in the bottom left hand corner - LANE COVE on tile A4 on the grid.
It has a large valley and I had intended to create a large city here, but there were elements I didn't like so I left it alone and instead focused on Mona Vale, Naremburn and Hunters Hill for the larger developments. I made a mental note that if I was unable to get the population required, I would return to this tile as it had a reasonable valley area (albeit quite elevated and sloping).
Now, with the pressure off to get the huge population growth per tile, I returned to Lane Cove to see what I could do with the remaining space.
One thing my Shosaloza lacks is suburbia.
You know the type - speculative tract housing, box stores, cinemas, grassy parks, schools, ovals, small businesses and churches. Neighbourly hellos and lawn mowers, roses, trimmed hedges, garden gnomes, picket fences, new cars, new 4-wheel drives, starched washing, spare rooms, roast meat and borrowed sugar. The areas that politicians visit when they refer to their constituent heartland. Middle values.
Ugggh &sly
So, I present this small update for your pleasure.
"Is that a suburb in your pocket....?"
As I said, I had intended for Lane Cove to be one of the larger city areas:
Here is what I had created - it still serves it's purpose as a dense CBD and transit hub for many neighbouring tiles
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FLane%2520Cove%2FLaneCove.jpg&hash=058f93ef5c86d80cda0c00d2837c9b98b9027204)
But the area behind the city was largely undeveloped, so with my mates CP and SG, we cracked open a few tinnies and let rip with tract housing. It still fairly steep and sloping, but larger areas of flat land allow the desired effect:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FLane%2520Cove%2FLaneCove6.jpg&hash=abb8e32ad70c210e2b7ba17d433b94f4a047c76b)
Imagine the joy of coming home to one of these many beauties after a grinding day in the box store:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FLane%2520Cove%2FLaneCove5.jpg&hash=8018cc5c118edff0ee67764038d17fbfb5c7832a)
Lost? does this street look the same as the last? Nooooo, never.... ::)

Imagine the gossip that occurs over these fences:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FLane%2520Cove%2FLaneCove4.jpg&hash=9a9692868c7015c4f685bf273dcc705767370a93)
Or these:

A long shot of the area:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FLane%2520Cove%2FLaneCove1.jpg&hash=a5fa2065fa53b0ad10e1a1d7c1da62fcf48e1341)
The schools, along with the churches, form the very social fabric of suburban heartland.
Values are passed from one generation to the next, like being a good citizen, a loyal worker, a kind neighbour, and never taking drugs - so god only knows what the kids are burning on the grounds of that school, but that smoke is always going :D
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FLane%2520Cove%2FLaneCove3.jpg&hash=e5e0d8a881d09115f9ff9393d98b35b447a1a409)
But, when all is said and done, suburbia is about the mall and the cinema. Here teenagers can hang, find gainless employment on sub-minimum wages and then spend those sub minimum wages on useless products ensuring a perfect cycle is maintained:

But for those rebellious kids who dream of bigger and better things, there's always the 'big city' - so near, yet so far :P
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FLane%2520Cove%2FLaneCove7.jpg&hash=c3ed396e8c34d8501dd01d2b9d68c11e9b06f18b)
Thanks again for viewing ;D
Great shot ... I am stuck in my game ... the Sims just dont want to breed as they should :)
Wonderful pictures! Great work!
Magnificent update again. Do I notice some Desperate Housewives in Wysteria Lane :P ?
Those were some fantastic updates, love your style of playing the game Matt.
Awesome pictures, great update and very funny comments to each picture. I love the DT core. Great job.
Quick question, I have asked this before and I did get an answer, I DL'd the files I thought I needed but I still don't get it. Anyways the question, in the top right hand corner you have the street and the road conectting but no intersection, the road has that nice curve, which files exactly do I need to be able to do that also? ()what() I know it has something to do with the eruo files for NAM.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FLane%2520Cove%2FLaneCove4.jpg&hash=9a9692868c7015c4f685bf273dcc705767370a93)
Thanks if you can help, in advance.
Robin
Everyone, thanks for the comments - Lane Cove was a bit of a break on this map. I am but inches away from 1 million, so it is always enjoyable to spread out a little.
Robin - I'm not sure if I know how to get those small street transitions. I just followed the NAM installation as per the Euro texture instructions. It's been on my game for so long, I can't actually remember if anything special was done. I'm sorry I couldn't be of any more help.
As I prepare the some more updates, I noticed this curious, curious little oddity on the Tile of Balmoral.
I know there is a thread for this sort of thing, but heck, I amused myself with it, so I thought I'd share a very, very small update with you.
UPDATE: WHEN A SIM STAGES A SILENT PROTEST
As Shosaloza becomes ever more dense and crowded, where is a Sim to go for quiet contemplation?
If the mayor provides too little in the way of Parks and Recreation, how will the Sim obtain quiet down time, so needed to recharge the batteries?
One Sim decided to get away from the world, found himself a hill on the edge of the world and then refused to leave:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2Foddity%2FSim_sit.jpg&hash=751a50dcf8ea03668165c045d81ca66cc710a588)
Hang on there buddy, I had planned a sub division here and those views into the abyss will fetch
huge land prices.
You had best move along.
He refused.
For days he sat there. Motionless and staring into eternity; I called upon all of my ministers for assistance.
I called the Roads and Transport department to see if they could come up with something. It didn't work:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2Foddity%2FSim_Rd.jpg&hash=b6b2b39bffa5f49c6e96cea825332826e881f1b7)
I called the education department, to see if they could talk sense into the fellow. Evidently they sent the kindergarten teacher...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2Foddity%2FSim_view_sign.jpg&hash=11fa217397d75102efc5ee4c70da7982e4a5cf8d)
I called the Ministry for the arts, to see if if they could 'surrealist' him into submission:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2Foddity%2FSim_infinite.jpg&hash=3fa5a1f1a9f88c664d6b150d24107897dc30d302)
Nothing worked. The media became more and more curious with the plight of this fellow....so, I couldn't simply 'bulldoze' him (well, I tried, but to no avail). Hoardes of people came to see him, sat there at the edge of the world...
Then the minister for tourism came up with this:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2Foddity%2FSim_view.jpg&hash=372cc8dfe4853233c4517d5da82f6316c137d4f9)
The chap is still there, so obviously it meets with his approval. Others too can now enjoy his view.
And still they come to see this man, no matter what the weather:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2Foddity%2FSim_view_snow.jpg&hash=3fc94071aeef09b2090ba4b67e3ef82e505536d6)
So popular, there is now a gift shop; although the ministry for safety was concerned that people could slip off the edge, so small fences were erected (won't someone think of the children?)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2Foddity%2FSim_view_spring.jpg&hash=14152624fb746b52913cb1b9a44f6ea022969374)

Remember the Rector
(he, he, he :D)? UPDATE: THE CHURCHES OF SHOSALOZA
THE RECTOR (HE, HE, HE :D ) HAS A TANTRUM
Many Sim years have passed since we paid a visit to the Rector (he, he, he), and now that this regional experiment draws to a close, the man who helped introduce us to Shosaloza has agreed to help us out with the closing updates.
Today we find the Rector
(he, he, he :D) in a foul mood indeed.
The latest issue of
Vanity Bride has arrived.
Remember, in Shosaloza, weddings – and the subsequent children produced after wedlock – are big business in this region, and everything is geared to getting as many Sims as possible breeding like rabbits.
Now, normally pictures of young, pert brides would not place the Rector
(he, he, he :D) into such a vile temper, but this addition features a spread of the top 12 churches in which to get married, so let's see what incensed him so:
IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER, THE TWELVE DIVINE CHURCHES
1)
Our Lady of the Snows, Turramurra(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FCh_rches%2FOurLadyoftheSnows1.jpg&hash=81384c0bbed7ec2d2ba71bac872dc24f9ee397c1)
"A quaint little church on the highest mountain of the whole Region. For the Simple and Rustic bride who would like to spend her honeymoon camping on the scree fields of Turramurra and get into brawls with the in-breds at the local pub"
RATING :wings: :wings:
2)
St Aloysius, Balmoral(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FCh_rches%2FStAloysius.jpg&hash=d2125dda3f7f87455be88fbe5ae20fb9c07a8457)
"Spectacular, evenly numbered and trimmed yew and box hedges of the highly formal grounds which surround this turn of the century church make for perfect bridal party photos for the anally-retentive or obsessive compulsive disorder bride...."
RATING :wings: :wings: :wings: :wings:
3)
Schiffenberg Cloisters, borough of Dural(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FCh_rches%2FSchiffenbergMonastry.jpg&hash=c82c37a025310979b881fd027b6b6a7daa17dbcc)
"Splendid, if somewhat austere surroundings guarantee a special day. The towering forest adds to the magical atmosphere. Nearby vineyards and a well stocked cellar ensure your guests don't feel like the celebration is only about you..."

4)
The Blessed Hesychius of the Battle(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FCh_rches%2FTheblessedHesychiusofthebattle.jpg&hash=94b4b008d926bd9ae1218740ad1216ec0fdfceda)

"Despite its forgettable name, this church will provide the urban bride with an unforgettable day. Set on the ancient Flanders Square, the church backs onto the delightful rose gardens of the nearby parsonage. The roses are perfect for stealing when your florist doesn't show on time."

5)
St Zephirynus, Galston(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FCh_rches%2FStZephyrinus.jpg&hash=8f5b31aff397573f243746e73a4702014800f3b0)
"Dependable and no nonsense, this church is no longer used as such, but can be hired at any time for a reasonable donation with no questions. A perfect choice for the quirky bride who wishes to be given away by her pet dolphin."

St Gerard's of the field, borough of Clareville(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FCh_rches%2FStGerardsinthefield.jpg&hash=42ae48fc3e852875256baee4f49bf3ee3d70f6c8)

"A beloved church tucked away down the pot-holed lanes of Clareville. Reputedly has the finest stained glass in all of Shosaloza and ancient attendant cemetery perfect for the
'la Mariée Gothique' who would doubtless conduct her service on all Hallows' night. Imagine the autumn leaves falling about you like multi coloured jewels – shame the photographer has gone for the arty black and white prints."

St Johns, Lane Cove(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FCh_rches%2FStJohns.jpg&hash=d87525dbf8e0a9f4362e1a2e7655b02806ddcf86)

Truly one of the most picturesque churches in the whole region. Be sure to wear underwear as the breezes from the ocean have been known to cause wedding party photos to end up on television shows such as 'Funniest home videos' and gives a whole new meaning to the term blushing bride."

"Situated in the central gardens on one of the most elegant avenues in Shosaloza, this church was recently renamed for the patron Saint of the Internet when the interiors were remodelled. Don't be fooled by the old fashioned exterior: more unusual features include streaming stained glass on demand and a pop-up best-man fart jokes blocker."

The Rector
(he, he, he :D ) was
FURIOUS. Despite buttering up the Vanity committee for the last twelve months, his little church
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMonaVale-Oct-1.jpg&hash=c15e83eb216a3b3009a2ec76a1552e7928927466)
received
NO mention, much less any wings.
"Why?" The Rector
(he, he, he :D ) mumbled aloud as he paced back and forth,
"...Just because these churches are flashy and don't have leaking roofs they can get into the glossy magazine. If I sucked up to the mayor like them, my church could get repaired too..."
"Mona Vale is the biggest city in the region, was my Church, there? No, why I ought to.." he muttered this and other incoherencies constantly until his wife, tired of his pacing and ranting offered the following suggestion:
"Why don't you call Mayor Orreah? You and he used to be best friends"
You see in Shosaloza, the control of 'religion' is entirely a secular affair: the mayor apportions city funds for the construction and maintenance of the churches. It is seen as a means to simply assist the population in breeding. The mayor also has a free to air television channel devoted entirely to adult content for this same reason, but that is another story...
And then it dawned on the Rector
(he, he, he :D ). "You know, I should give Orreah a call, I haven't seen him in about 40 years..."
To be continued.....
A very special update with the views of the edge of the world. :D
Also enjoyed your latest offering with all the churches, pop-up blocker seems to me like a handy thing for any wedding.
LOL! A funny, witty and humorous update! I liked! :D
Fantastic update. I love the churches. You have a very nice collection and they all look very well placed.
Pictures 10, 11 and 12 are my favourites churches. I like the more gothic style.
Have you seen this new one by DebussyMan? This is awesome. The details are astounding.

Maybe you can find a spot for this one. ;)

Good stuff and great reading ;)
Superb update Matt, was fun reading the story!
Hello Matt - well - That was a very entertaining read. Thank you. I especially liked the one of the sim person having a sit in.
Wonderful update, Matt!
Great pictures, too!
Thanks everyone. Rooker1, Debussymans church is truly wonderful, but I datpacked a set of plugins for this project, but maybe in future updates. We'll see.
UPDATE: DESPERATELY SEEKING ORREAH
Or
BUREAUCRACY WASTES PETROL
....continued from previous updateCongratulating his own brilliance, the Rector
(he, he, he :D ) telephoned Mayor Orreah's office to make an appointment to increase funding for his modest little church.
Knowing bureaucracy and knowing that he would never be able to see Orreah this side of Christmas, when the receptionist answered the phone, the Rector
(he, he, he :D ) simply asked if he could change "today's appointment at 10am" by 30 minutes.
Of course there was no "today's appointment at 10am" but the Rector
(he, he, he :D ) managed to embarrass the receptionist (who of course did not want to admit to having no record of the booking) into getting him in today regardless.
Pleased with himself, the Rector
(he, he, he :D ) grabbed the issue of Vanity Bride and set off down the mountain to the town hall on the valley floor.
As he approached the outskirts of the CBD, the Rector
(he, he, he :D ) saw the massive growth in Mona Vale.
The small homes had given way to apartments and neatly trimmed parks. All around was an air of staid achievement

The rector turned towards the town hall. Remember this building with the horses running outside its walls?

The Rector
(he, he, he :D ) was flabbergasted. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. Worse still, he needed to find a place to park the car. Thankfully he had left himself plenty of time.
The Rector
(he, he, he :D ) drove around for a little bit
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMona%2520Vale%2FHighrises1.jpg&hash=20ba023a5e6587aef42f66158baa6eda4661e53b)
Nothing. A little bit more:

Still nothing. The Rector
(he, he, he :D ) rounded a bend and eventually found a car park near the station.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMona%2520Vale%2Fstation.jpg&hash=948e8bb8f11a02fd4207d29db631354e6d40a1e1)
He fed the parking meter as many coins as he could and made the long walk back past the many offices towards the town hall.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMona%2520Vale%2F60sOffices.jpg&hash=5392cb6ca6ce69590187708b502a6a794caa02a8)
Finally he arrived. Puffed, he declared "I'm here to see Orreah, I've a 10.30am appointment"
"I'm sorry Sir, Mayor Orreah is gone. He is not these offices on Tuesday. I believe today he is in the offices on Martin Square at the northern side of the city. If you hurry, you should still make the appointment."
"Gone? Orreah?"
The Rector
(he, he, he :D ) shook his head and muttered something about gross incompetence as he hurried back to the car. Martin Square was a fair distance. The traffic in this part of town was starting to get heavy, so...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMona%2520Vale%2FDowntown7.jpg&hash=2150cb6039d9109fd8245699204a4d713b1c0d11)
...remembering a short cut, he headed through Forbes Street – once a more elegant street in Mona Vale, but the Rector
(he, he, he :D ) noted that the new found wealth of this city made this little street look very tired
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMona%2520Vale%2FForbesStTerraces.jpg&hash=9711d0c3dc7386ceed2f8f74d2144116468ec51b)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMona%2520Vale%2FForbesStJacarandas.jpg&hash=60a6b0607b97cfcbc17946c19d751f728f04392b)
He rounded a bend and there was Martin Square – a small triangle of grass which marked a verge in the road. The town hall was the old colonnaded building directly opposite the square.
The Rector
(he, he, he :D ) parked a side street, fed the parking meter a note (the previous one had eaten all of coins and didn't offer a refund) and headed towards the town hall:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMona%2520Vale%2FTownhallsquare.jpg&hash=3b5086853314613a2bc9f7911dc41119d7ac0dda)
As he walked in to the building he declared to receptionist:
"I'm here to see Orreah, I've a 10.30am appointment"
"I'm sorry Sir, Mayor Orreah is not these offices on Tuesday. I believe today he is in the offices on Centenary plaza at the western side of the city. Do you know the offices?...hard to miss, they're much grander than these. If you hurry, you should still make the appointment."
"Gone? Orreah?" Spluttered the Rector
(he, he, he :D ), exasperated.
"Offices grander than this? How many offices does Orreah need? No wonder these bloody parking meters eat all of my money – to pay for you lot..." he rambled senselessly as he trotted back to the car.
Starting the car once more, he headed back into the CBD:

Giant apartments crowded together around business hubs:

The Rector
(he, he, he :D ) was overwhelmed by the scale of the city and increasingly frustrated too. Nothing looked familiar to him and he was beginning to feel claustrophobic. Eventually he found his way to Centenary Plaza and the 'grander' offices of the mayor.
Again, he found a place to park, fed the meter some more money (a larger note this time), kicked it, swore at it like a potty-mouthed trooper, asked his holiness for forgiveness, and stomped up to the town hall:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMona%2520Vale%2FDowntown6.jpg&hash=98f4725349823cae58d3abce2597866d1b4b401b)
"I'm here to see Orreah, I've a 10.30am appointment" He puffed
"I'm sorry Sir, I think Mayor Orreah is running little late for your appointment. I'll page him.
I'm not sure where he's gone. Orreah...your 10.30 is here"
....the receptionist hollered as she leaned into a contraption mounted on the desk. Through the speaker piece the Rector
(he, he, he :D ) could hear clinking of glassware, items crashing to the floor and some general swearing.
At that moment the door flew open and a scantily clad woman ran past clutching her clothes and shoes.
The receptionist, embarrassed, gestured for the Rector
(he, he, he :D ) to be seated. "Orreah won't be long" she smiled. "He never is...."
To be continued....
Great stuff ... what is your numbers now ... I am stuck around 900k and that is it.
Matt, you crack me up ;D Super city but it is the prose in between that makes it for me. You missed your calling ;D
I love the mix of low and tall buildings and the open spaces. Looking forward to the next episode.
Great story and great pictures again Matt... The giant residentals do fit very "nice" in your city! I am also interested to find out how many inhabitants you got now....
Very nice Matt, this is looking like a proper big city now.
Fantastic pictures! Great city! Wonderful parks in the residential areas!
Thanks guys - Colyn - I am but a few unplanned pregnancies (so to speak) from the goal
UPDATE WILLOUGHBY GOLF COURSE
OR
ORREAH LOOSES HIS BIRDIES
Continued from previous update............"Rector (
he, he, he :D )!" exclaimed Orreah as he composed himself. "What can I do for you?"
The Rector
(he, he, he :D) attempted small talk; the wife, the weather, how fast time has gone – Orreah politely evaded most of the answers.
Finally arriving at the point of the visit, The Rector
(he, he, he :D) pushed the copy of Vanity Bride across the mayors' desk.
"My church needs repairs and the stipend is gone". Orreah thumbed the magazine and said distractedly, "Ahh, married women – did you see the one who just...you can keep a secret can't you...."
"The church..." the Rector
(he, he, he :D ) interjected, "...needs money"
"There's no more money"
"Where is it gone? Orreah, this is the state's responsibility..."
Orreah looked out the window before walking to a cupboard and extracting two sets of clubs. "Such a lovely day. Do you play golf?"
The Rector
(he, he, he :D) was about to indignantly decline when he remembered reading somewhere that many deals were done on the golf course. Despite the fact that he was incompetent at any sports, he decided to go along for the ride.
From the mayors' office, the pair drove to Willoughby in the North West of Shosaloza:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FWilloughby%2FMountRobsonCSX-0747.jpg&hash=266a9361c5183305f8968a239d9895520d401e81)
Set high on the ridge, the course was the most challenging in the entire region.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FWilloughby%2FWilloughbyCountryClub_Long.jpg&hash=c62520ac939982453d64d7ef0f838eae74aa4d0a)
Orreah's car followed the long road to the club house:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FWilloughby%2FWilloughbyCountryClub12.jpg&hash=aba3599e5d15fa1e4d01326f5511e7d63966e470)

They teed off:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FWilloughby%2FWilloughbyCountryClub1.jpg&hash=2463e25a9409e8107b0a8618611d279d974c8c0b)
Orreah hit the perfect shot. The Rector's
(he, he, he :D) shot landed in the scrub.
"What a shame, I can't even see where your ball has gone." "Orreah", smiled the Rector
(he, he, he :D ), "I warned you I'm rusty"
And so it continued:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FWilloughby%2FWilloughbyCountryClub3.jpg&hash=bf1a614fc5fd273869f922bbff1a4a9b4eb1c07b)
Either in the drink...

...or sand-trap after sand-trap caught the Rector's
(he, he, he :D ) attempts at golf
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FWilloughby%2FWilloughbyCountryClub5.jpg&hash=c3d237487e0e7f062ae51b1dc208b525eaaa01f7)

Orreah, on the other hand was well under par and enjoyed thrashing his opponent
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FWilloughby%2FWilloughbyCountryClub7.jpg&hash=e36c23697c768e581bb227f70de2233dad48e9d1)
Finally, after the Rector's
(he, he, he :D ) attempts at a decent score had all but gone, Orreah, who was now in a good mood, piped up
"How much did you need for your church?"
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FWilloughby%2FWilloughbyCountryClub8.jpg&hash=1720fc3da05995e8c318fa1627c14f78ac2f04d8)
The Rector
(He, he, he :D ) had a RARE moment of bravery for a man of the cloth.
"§700,000", he exclaimed
Feeling his composure gone, Orreah hit a lousy shot, taking a divot of the course with him
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FWilloughby%2FWilloughbyCountryClub9.jpg&hash=5a6be3cd217a27c949054a164e51bcd9b2b1b605)
"I could build a new one for that." Orreah exclaimed. The Rector
(he, he, he :D ) seized his opportunity
"Well, think of it this way, the publicity if Mona Vale and the new church helps get the millionth child, well, it would be invaluable". The Rector
(he, he, he :D) saw no reaction, so he played his wild card "Now, Orreah imagine if the papers found out about your goings-on back at your office?"
Orreah shuddered. Another opportunity for a decent shot gone. Orreah weighed the loss of his 'birdies' as the pair returned to the clubhouse.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FWilloughby%2FWilloughbyCountryClub2.jpg&hash=73c66d9d7ad097f3798f75c320d577cbe1fbf293)
"Rector
(he, he, he :D) ", sighed Orreah, "I'll see what I can do."
To be continued....
Beautiful golf course, mattb325! Nice pictures!
Hmmmm........golf.........I think I'll take the afteroon off now to go play a round. Great golf coarse.
Robin &apls
Gonorreah? :P
I can see the pun evident in that name, you know. :P
Nice pics, as always.
Thanks everyone....now why would I call the mayor gonorreah? I just don't follow... $%Grinno$% :P :D
Update: If a Phone Rings in Shosaloza
Almost a year has passed since Orreah and the Rector (he, he, he :D) played their round of golf on that fine autumn day.
But, our Update today starts at the Mater Misericordiae Women's Hospital in Mona Vale.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMona%2520Vale%2FTauntonstate.jpg&hash=1b596a3d42be0d6fb41cc7df6ba9499db6569058)
At 12.45am, a portly matron runs as fast as her stout legs will carry her along the freshly waxed linoleum floors.
At 12.50am, as she arrives at the nurses' desk, she puffs "Sister, it will happen sometime today"
The sister nods briefly, "Are you quite certain? There can be no false alarm".
"The doctor believes it will be this afternoon" The portly matron replies.
At 12.52am, the sister lifts the receiver of the phone next to her and waits for the outside dial tone.
At that moment, in one of Mona Vale's grey government offices the stifling grey silence of bureaucratic ennui is broken by the shrill ring of a telephone.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMona%2520Vale%2Fgovtoffices.jpg&hash=ab39fb6b15e92ef0541c84ad6ceaa92920a7175c)
At 12.53am, the grey clerk, somewhat surprised by the ringing of his hitherto silent telephone, cautiously lifts the receiver.
"Hello?"
"Mater Misericordiae Hospital here. We have a code 944A" Announces the excited voice on the other end of the phone. "It will happen sometime in the early afternoon."
"I see. Thankyou", says they grey clerk flatly as he replaces the receiver.
He has no idea what a code 944A is, but knows by its leading digit and the excitable woman's tone of voice that it's serious.
At 12.58am, the grey clerk gets up from his cubicle and shuffles to the shelf on the wall. He retrieves a blue folder marked 'Incident Codes - not for External Dissemination'
In the blue folder marked 'Incident Codes - not for External Dissemination' he thumbs through all of the code listings in an attempt to find the meaning as the clock on the office wall strikes 1pm.
At 1.01pm, the grey clerk places the blue folder marked 'Incident Codes - not for External Dissemination' to one side of his desk, reaches into his brief case and extracts a small brown paper bag.
From it he takes two sandwiches.
At 1.05pm, the grey clerk takes his two sandwiches and sits alone in the nearby park as the city bustles all around him.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMona%2520Vale%2FDowntown6-1.jpg&hash=97bd0feb86dd0d27b39c756a6485014bcf291091)
At 1.43pm, having finished his two sandwiches, the grey clerk returns to the desk.
At 1.45pm, the grey clerk resumes searching for the code 944A in the blue folder marked 'Incident Codes - not for External Dissemination'.
Finally he reaches the section in question and is utterly shocked at the urgency of the description of code 944A
At 1.52pm, the grey clerk replaces the blue folder marked 'Incident Codes - not for External Dissemination' back on the shelf whence it came.
At 2.01pm, the grey clerk completes a form in triplicate and places one copy in the department managers' secretary's in-tray.
At 2.07pm, the grey clerk makes his way to department managers' office.
At 2.09pm, the department manager, who has forgotten the name of name of the grey clerk, ushers him to sit down and takes the two remaining copies of the form from the grey clerk. He places the top copy in his own in-tray and reads from the final carbon copy.
At 2.13pm, the department manager, having read the triplicate copy and satisfied himself with the imperative urgency and legitimacy of that self same document, breaks the intolerably stifling grey silence of bureaucratic ennui by asking the grey clerk. "You are certain of this?"
At 2.14pm, the grey clerk responds. "Yes. It is to happen this afternoon."
At 2.15pm, the department manager reaches across his desk and grabs a red telephone with a single push-button. He lifts the receiver, and pushes the button.
At that time, a similar red-phone at the mayors office rings
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMona%2520Vale%2Fmonavale_mayor.jpg&hash=8e416643a2b3c24a524bfc0a3f429bdbde9ba5a0)
At 2.16pm the receptionist answers:
"Orreah's office"
"Ministry of Births, Deaths and Marriages" says the officious voice at the other end of the line. "We have a code 944A, due in about an hour."
"Oh my'" gurgles the receptionist, who knows what a 944A means, "I'll let Orreah know".
At 2.18pm, being Friday, Orreah was at home enjoying a late breakfast of pure alcohol to avoid the onset of a hangover from the previous night
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FMona%2520Vale%2FOrreahhouse.jpg&hash=4874b0e488994a96c147c266bfa0d57df669765c)
The loud ring of the phone pushes straight through his groggy head.
At 2.19pm, Orreah begrudgingly answers: "Hello"
"Orreah, It's time." says his receptionist. "Do you want me to arrange the necessary?"
"Yes, you know what to do".
At 2.20pm the receptionist frantically calls those people on her list to prepare for the imminent code 944A.
At 2.21pm, the doctor at the Mater Misericordiae

slaps the air into the lungs of millionth child, all of Shosaloza celebrates as Mona Vale delivers to it the millionth child.

And the mother of this auspicious child?
Where did she wed?
Why, the Rector's (he, he, he :D) recently completed church of St Serfontein, patron saint of the numbers.

You see, with persistence, even a meek Rector (he, he, he :D) can get what he wants too.
Thanks eveyone for viewing

Ha , Matt , I love that so much when I have to stop more than a few seconds in front of a picture to examine it , wondering "How he did that" , searching for all details you added to a Lot , wondering "From where is this prop coming " ...thank you for excite so well my curiosity . My first reaction coming here , and seeing your constant and great use of seasonal trees , is always to remember pictures from "Far from Heaven" one of my favorite movies ...
Great . &apls &apls &apls
Great job Matt!
Is the Taunton State Hospital available anywhere (anymore?)? I thought I had a copy of it... but the key word there was HAD. It may have been over at PEG's, I'm not sure, but I'm kicking myself for cleaning it out of my plugins. I don't remember what I THOUGHT it was, but I remember now and wish I'd looked at it first!!
Congratulations with the 944A case Matt... ()flower() Flowers for a job well done. Once again your story was very exciting and amusing... !
Hey Mattb
on page 4 of the thread, the first picture shows what I believe is one of C.P.'s victorian houses. You can't get it on the LEX or anywhere else as far as I know. I just think that it would look really good in my city. I'm sorry I have to turn to you, but you're the only one that actually appears to have that house other than C.P. By the way, did I mention your map looks AMAZING?!? I love your buildings also. Thanks, and best regards
Aren't you looking for this? (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2136)
First of, please PanzerMan1009, it is consider bad manners to revive a old thread.
The post before yours is 9 years old.
There is a board for these kind of questions: Where can I find this ....?¿ (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?board=120.0)
Another think that could help was to include a picture of the house in question.
Arthur:They are upload two year after the post was made.
