You know that scene in the simpsons where Homer decides to do some marketing, so starts with a bunch of books on advanced marketing and statistics, and then a few scenes later is binning an idiots guide to maketing and still clueless, thats how I feel :)
I have been playing for precisely three weeks, on my third reinstall of custom content and I think ready to get down to brass tacks. The one thing that I amn struggling with though is all the options, possibilities, and then the actual nuts and bolts laying out of roads, rail, etc , NAM stuff, like really simple stuff "this is how you create a road stuff" "these are the best optiosn to have installed" - I realise this is old ground for most from "back in the day" - but is their a goldmine of interesting basic stuff somewhere I can read to get started ?
Cheers!
Alik.
The SC4 Encyclopaedia wiki hosted here at SC4 Devotion is always a good place to start, the NAM tutorials are here;
http://www.wiki.sc4devotion.com/index.php?title=Category:Tutorials#NAM_Tutorials
also here is the NAM How-Tos and Tutorials topics;
http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?board=235.0
hope that helps :)
Thanks Catty :)
I did take a look and got FLUPS (understood) and working which was cool from the tutorials
I played around with PED Mall tiles a bit, I can get commercial properties to build on them and grow, but they all show Zero workers and no traffic, is this normal, I did try muliple bus stops in different places but that didnt seem to help, anyone tell me what I am doing wrong (or is this a "feature" :) ) - same thing with pedestrian overpasses (which I didnt even know where there till tonight, yay!) - I see no traffic but I do see animations of sims walking on them (which may just be scenery of course)
Tried out the tram pieces as well but got kinda confused about tram stops, do I just go look on the LEX and find some or should I still be able to use the elevated station but am missing something like a ramp puzzle piece or something ??
I see there are other addons to the NAM that I could use but I want to get the basics down before installing more :) - but if there is some killer addons that I should/must have to make life easier advice from peeps would be great :)
Thanks
Alik
Yes, you have to download special stations for the trams. And there are transitions from tram to el-rail and to flups included in the NAM :)
