Title: Commuters, Housing occupants, and growable lots.
Post by: armyofone1890 on February 09, 2011, 05:13:23 PM
Hello,

So I have a few questions concern phenomenon I have seen since installing the NAM and all the wonderful lots I've found here.  Regarding NAM, I've noticed that while my farms, industries, and commercial lots all have full employment, alot of them don't have actual commuters to and from their location.  I found that strange.  The houses too, once they grow to R$$ or R$$$ they no longer have full occupancy.  It seems to stick right around 6/11 or so.  I don't understand why this is happening because it never used to.  Lastly, I have gone through all the right steps in installing lots...I have alll the dependancies, I have Cleanitol and use that consistently to check for missing files and to perform backups, and I've downloaded tons of growable lots, only from BSC, Simgoober, and Gascooker so far.  I know they are reputable and I'm doing all the right steps...but nothing new seems to be popping up in my zones.  It's all original Simcity 4: Rush Hour junk, which is super boring!!  Is there something I'm not doing or something I need to fix?  Any help in these areas is greatly appreciated!!

The number of occupants (a/b) doesn't reflect the amount of commuters.  "b" is the total capacity of the building, and "a" is the capacity with land value and other desirability factors included.  You will never see more commuters than value "a".   It is the same with residence, although in this case, "a" is the amount of people living there.  Try raising the land value or other things like that, and perhaps increase demand.

Try this: Maxis Blocker (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=897).  If nothing grows after you install it then there is a problem with the way you installed (these files have been dled 1000s of times with no problems).  If custom buildings appear, then you either need 1) more custom buildings or 2)keep the blocker in.

Ok, still though, regardless of occupancy or employment levels...why am I showing no traffic to/from some of my commercial and agricultural buildings?

That makes sense, the desirability is high but demand for $$ and $$$ is very low so I guess that's why only 6 out of a potential 11 are living there.  Thank you for the help!
