Just wanted to inform our fellow forums users that we are currently under the process of moving to another server and upgrading the forums software. As long as the process takes place, the forums will be under maintenance mode, and no new posts can be made. The situation may take up to 2-3 days to get fixed again. We'll be back better and stronger than ever ¡¡¡ :thumbsup:

After many many issues it seems that the new server is being propagated, and many members can already access this new SC4Devotion Forums upgraded version ;D
Currently there are many plugins and some features missing, and some work must be done with the theme template as well, but In the meantime, you can use the forums again, and report any issues or errors you find in the SC4 Devotion bugs and technical issues... (http://184.172.246.139/~jeronij/forums/index.php?topic=5.0) board
Hopefully the new DNS will propagate soon and in 24hours everybody will be directed to the right site :thumbsup:

Looks nice, but where are the login fields? I managed to login by clicking on a user name which caused a login screen to open, but I didn't find a normal login.

As for the technical aspects, I can see the forums normally, but not the homepage yet.
This new look will take a little getting used to. It's so different now. Anyways, after trying to log in on the 20th or 30th try I finally got in. ;D

I made it! finally able to log-on. AFTER a frustrating argument :angrymore: with the log-in; it seems that my correct password wasn't correct ???... someone ought to smack that gorilla around a little -he's slipping... &sly
any-hoo, found it a new and refreshing UI, a bit bright from the norm but I'm flexible... :satisfied: so I'll reserve final 'judgement' for when its complete... ;)

Hello Jeroni and admins
I like the new look. It is bright and cheery. Spell check popped up super fast and the 'suspect' spelling errors highlighted in yellow which made checking a quick and easy task.
I'll have to check out the 'flash' tool. Wish me luck :D

Great to see the site back up!
Small note: The news bar on the main forum page's height bounces up and down, moving all of the elements under it up and down. The news text probably needs to be stuck in its own div with a static height to stop it bouncing.
I'll stick this in the bugs thread in case you guys don't see it in here.

The LEX appears to be missing summary pictures and any download stats and comments since about 28/6 (including two recently uploaded files - a map and the japanese river patch) that I noticed are also missing.
Hope this can be fixed ;)

I'm glad to see the return to the original Simple Machines format. The other format was smaller and darker to the point where I found it difficult to read.
Anyone else seeing phantom posts that don't increase the post size below some posts? They say "Sim City 4 Devotion Forums" on them.
Yes, that would appear to be a feature; it just duplicates the title line of the last post at the end of the page.
I've seen to have a post go POOF ... it was made about 5 hours before the forums went down again last night.
Is there a way to go to the last unread post, or is that feature gone? The only thing I can see is a button that goes to the most recent post, not the most recently read.

Looks like there are "NEW" buttons for last unread post - might have been user error on my part. I think I forgot to log back in. %wrd
BTW, getting used to the new look. It's a simple design, I generally am a fan. A bit too much white space IMO but overall I haven't run into real problems.
Did you know you can display your country's flag now? Just click on the PROFILE button at the top of the page and scroll down. Jeroni has dedicated countless hours to updating the SC4D Web site, and this is just one of many tweaks to come.

I've looked everywhere and can't see away to change themes. Is this possible? Will it be possible?

Cool. Sorry I must have missed that when I was reading over the thread.
Just got onto the forums after some trouble, which is now fixed. :)
I have to say the brightness of the forums will take a bit getting used-to. Although may I make a suggestion? On the Forums home, would it be possible to put lines in between, or in any way better distinguish different threads from each other? At the moment it's kind of strange. &mmm Just my opinion.

You can expand or collapse the column. Please, check the options before complaining. I have added 100 extra pixels width to the forums. Didnt you notice that as well?
I hope the new functions and integration is useful for most of the members. I tried to be as flexible as I could when installing them.
I have installed also two new extra functionalities for the site subscribers, which I hope you will like :) . They can be seen in the home page, Shoutbox to share your mood in a given moment, and a graphical online members list at the top of every page, so you can easily contact that member you are looking for.
Also, after some discussion at admin level, we have decided to make the Staff List available for all the members, regardless of their membership type.
Please, report any technical problem you may find in the new forums :thumbsup:
Ah, well, it took me some time to find out that those buttons at the top right were responsible for this $%Grinno$%
And yes, it's much better now that the forums are wider.
The layout is great, although there is a huge amount of whitespace at the top of page above the header, I don't know if it's just on Safari, I'd check on Chrome but I can't open it without it crashing.
Also is the forum background meant to white everywhere? It's quite a massive contrast to the black buttons, header and edge?

I just tried with Safari 5.0.5 and Chrome 12.0.742.122 m and I experienced no problem at all. Perhaps you have to clean the cache or something? Can you please try again?

Up until recently I assumed that pictures embedded in a forum and being not wider than 800 pixels should be displayed without a scrollbar on a 17 inch screen (which I have). Thanks to the new layout even a 550 pixel wide picture (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=2091.msg358566#msg358566) (!) "features" these ugly blue bars now. So, regrettably, I can't join the previous speakers. :(

I echo the sentiment :thumbsup: its all good overall however when I voted on the RHW poll went to a different page everything seemed ok until I scrolled down and then it went all 'wonky'...
the poll maybe out dated or something and ought to removed if so... However the RHW guide is a project someone adept at such projects to take on

What do you mean "listed on one page"? By clicking "forums" on the top navigation bar, I can see them all.
And also, I noticed that on the left navigation bar, the sub-menus that appear when you hover over something have a white border around them. It doesn't line up with the edge of the menu making it seem...ugly. I think it would look better with no border at all.

I did notice that, but remember, all you had to do before was scroll down to the page to see all forums listed.
By the way, where are the team forums at? I see no listing for them yet?EDIT: Never mind. Now I know what was going on. For some odd reason, until about 2 minutes ago, every time I click on 'forum' in the link near the top of the page, it took me to the Home page, now it takes me to the 'Forums' page. ::) Everything is good now.
Just one thought, couldn't we have the option of hosting avatars off-site, as to not use up SC4D bandwith?
