Hi guys, yesterday I started a new city and developed it a bit. Today I decided to continue my work on it, it loaded successfully but just a second after that the game crashes. I decided to rename my Plugins folder to see whether it's a plugins conflict but the game crashes again. Can someone help me? %confuso
This happened to me too on certain city tiles some times ago. The only thing I was able to do is to delete the tile and rebuild it :/
Strange... it never happened to me. I think you already use the technique for no-crash (if you have more than one CPU, ou must uncheck all CPUs to keep just ine, etc)?
I already tried that but the game crashes no matter if I'm using only one or two cores. :(
does it occur on all city tiles or just on specific ones?
Only on this one :bomb:
Sounds like the save file for that city tile might be corrupted. I'm afraid the suggestion of deleting that city from the region view may be the only option you have. &ops
Oh well. Fortunately this didn't happen to a city that I've been working on for a longer time ;D
Thank you guys for your suggestions. If someone has other ideas, please share them because soon this city tile will be gone $%Grinno$%
The only thing I can thing now is to try with a backup of the tile, even when it was not build..
I've just got an idea: could you try importing the city onto another tile and see if it crashes then?
Its possible you have a conflicting mod of some kind. Conflicting Seaport controlllers will do this alot. Working seaports often have a the controller built into the bat, so if you downloaded a working seaport from a site like simtropolis (or one of the working ports from here), and then plopped it along side a SimPeg working seaport, the game will crash when you load the tile. There is a similar issue with Freight airports. Most experienced authors will be very clear about looking for conflicts.
Freight stations can cause similar issues as well.
To the best of my knowledge, if you have plopped lots with conflicting controllers, there is no way to load the tile to fix the issue. Hopefuly I am wrong and someone will set me straight...
Anytime I install something that looks like it has even the smallest change of having a conflict, I load a sandbox region and drop everything it could possibly conflict with and reload the tile to make sure its fine.
Basically be leery of anything that suggests it mods game play in any manner, especialy things that move stuff into or out of a city, such as freight stations, airports, and ports.

Will do that, thanks for the tip.

Doesn't work, unfortunately.

Thanks for your comment, Joshua! The thing is, I haven't built any seaports/airports/etc.
Well, it seems I'll have to start all over again &mmm
The very same thing happened to me a year ago. I've searched the forums and found out what was wrong with in my situation.
- I had My Sims in city and once I saved and left the game I couldn't enter again. I mean I could, but in a few seconds the game crashed.
- Try building another city. build some staff. Put "My Sim" to live in it. Save. Quit game. Enter and see what happens. If it crashes again, you'll know better next time when putting MySim ;) .
- Although, I am sure there is a way to delete MySim when not in game. Not sure though, can't remember.
Yesterday I started the city again from scratch, built some houses and got population of about 3k. I also built a ferry, a yacht port and used the BSC modular port lots (forgot the exact name). I saved, exited and loaded the city a few times. But today it again crashes just a couple of seconds after loading :'( :angrymore: I tried nemanjanv7's method - I built some houses on a neighbouring town and put a sim there. But I had no luck again.
Hmh, I am not sure if you understood what I meant.
MySim CAUSES crashes to desktop. If you have MySim there's a great chance the game will crash
Ah, I got you now. I don't have a my sim in the city.
Can you try to pause the game after load or does it crash immediately?
It crashes immediately (a second or two after the city has loaded).
If the city DOES load briefly try using the hotkey to see if it's a problem with the city or the game.

Damn, this seems to be happening with me. I just build my port to finish my city which I worked on for weeks... So I understand that there is no possible way to delete anything to load my city again? :(
edit: Must be my lucky day, I just copied the whole SImcity map for a friend of mine on USB. So I could use an old save :D
I'm getting exactly this now, it appears to be a problem with the RCI but I wouldn't know

It crashes about 15 seconds in, but pausing the game seems to stop it crashing. My city's only just started, so I assume it's to do with building growth. Maybe having more zones than there's demand for confuses the RCI engine?
EDIT: I dezoned all the empty zones and demolished everything else, which confirms with CERTANITY that it's a problem with either the RCI or a certain grown lot.
