Title: Lots in CAM.
Post by: billyoatmeal on December 28, 2011, 12:56:05 PM
Hello, When i use CAM mod for my game, do i have to use only the CAMelot and CAMpatible buildings and lots?  I got some of my own creations saved in a safe place that i want to keep using.

If not. Is there a simple way to just turn my buildings CAMpatible for my cities. I really like the whole CAM idea. I'm finally deciding to use it. My last computer has died with no hope and I lost all the plugins i had, so I'm starting out new. (Once Again).

Don't know how to make them CAMlots, but as far as own buildings, yes you can leave them in

I have a mixture of CAMelots and nonCAMelots in my plugins and all grow with no issues

As far as I know, CAMelots only grow in the expanded stage levels(unless they are done incorrectly), so any other lots will still only grow in the original 8 stages

Ok. Well, I know some of the Agriculture side is made for lower levels. I'll play around with it a bit, I might figure something out. Thanks. It's good to know they'll still grow.

Indeed, a CAMelot will only grow with CAM (and let us us know if they grow without it :) ).

As you know, CAM increases the amount of stages that SC4 has from 8 to 15 (for R/C).  You may not now that it also spreads the stages out a little too.  A Lot that was stage 7 without CAM might be better as a stage 9 with CAM.

There is a tool for doing just this: PIMX (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?board=180.0).  It works like MaxisPIM, but has many advantages.  You will want to open your building and lots with it (together).  Then find your building, right click on the data, and select "recompute properties as...".  Then you will be asked for a filling degree.  This is the percentage that the building fills up it's bounding box (which can be seen in the lower left hand corner of the program).  Clicking "okay", all of the stats will be recomputed (!) and you will get suggested stage for all of the lots associated with that building.  If you stop at that point, all of your buildings will be "PIMXed".  If your lots happen to become CAM lots, that is when they will grow.

You can take another step with PIMX, and that is changing the CAM stage.  Once you get your lot stage, adjust the CAM stage in the building to the proper amount.  This will make it so that your lots are counted in the CAM Counter.

edit: oh yea, and you are perfectly fine doing nothing.

I know that was quick, there is a lot more in the threads over there, as well as the PIMX readme.

CAM also added Agriculture stages also, so its easier to build little farming towns(which is fun to do)
