How far do sims commute across multiple city tiles? Does it work successfully over more than 2-3 cities? I'm trying to build a large metropolitan city around a dense commercial cbd with railway lines, RHW and normal metro grade roads expanding out into the suburbs in a radial pattern. 2 Obvious problems I have encountered are the infinite loop bug - hence the radial city design - so no intercity ring roads :( and that sims often exit highways in the wrong place and clog up local roads when they should stay on the freeways. Am I right in guessing that highways need to be as independent from local roads as possible until the freeways end in the desired areas?
I don't know, I had several sims commuting across two or even three [small] cities in my old region, where I had MHW (Maxis HighWay)/RHW, road, rail and HSR links across the corridor. SimCity does not really tend to account for longer-distance commuters, so it's not going to be very accurate. I tend now to have only two or three RHW junctions in each city, but it means that not many sims will use them. I think that in order to create a successful, medium-distance commuter highway, one must be patient, and more to the point, I would only install one or two local junctions per 'area'
I hope that helped, please ask if you want to know anything more ;)
