Hi guys.
I have a problem with exporting my work as in the title. So far, everything I did on the other computer where I installed XP and there were no problems. However, that old computer died, I had to change to the new, which I have Windows 7 SP 1. Yet this system is not well figured out, though with a few problems already did it, actually. In any case, I wanted to export some of my work, which for a long time "lying" on the disk. And here there is a problem. When you try to export I get an message "Failed to export S3D! Zoom 5 view South" and "Export Failed! Code = 11". And of course the export of thread. I tried a few models, so it's not the fault of the same model. In dozens of vacuum, I managed to export one small road sign, but no other does not. Newet when in a scene from which I could have changed the texture of a further sign of positive effects was not. Also try using the "Merge" nothing helped.
He has already met someone with such a problem? Were it not that old computer died, there would be no problem. However, I would be a shame to lose those few works.
Let me also add that the creation tract as early as the W7 model, also ended in failure.
Maybe there is a patch, or knows someone ways to eliminate this error.
I look forward to suggestions and I will be grateful for any assistance.
Greetings
- Dave
I haven't used Win7 (SP1) outside of work; however at work I'm aware that you need to provide administrative control for a lot of older applications to work. (I am assuming that the PC you are using is your own and you can give yourself admin rights)
You can give yourself admin rights one of two ways:
1) Instead of double-clicking on the GMAX icon, right-click it and select 'Run as administrator'. This will allow one-time admin rights for that session, or
2) Where GMAX is installed (usually the C:/gmax drive), right click the folder and select the 'security' tab. Grant yourself full control under the 'Edit' function button. Ensure that this permission is copied to other sub-folders. You may also need to give full control over the SC4 My Documents Plugins file as this is where gmax ultimately writes the model files once exported.
Hope that helps, as I said, I haven't actually used Win7 with gmax.....
Running gmax on Win7 without any problems.
One thing that might give problems: No space in the folder names.
I reinstalled gmax and a BAT. I checked the settings. I managed to export another road sign, and when I thought that the problem is solved, the second model, and attempt to render the situation again started to repeat.
I should add that this new computer on which there is no question of lack of space or poor performance. So far, I worked on the computer Athlon x2 5200 + with 2GB of RAM and 510MB GeForce8600GT. Now I have Athlon x4 3000GHz 8GB RAM and 1GB GeForce. This just installed W7, SimCity 4 and smaller programs such as: LeProp, PIM-X, SC4Tool and something like that. Nothing more. So the place is rather a strength.
Only I can not find a solution.
Quite strange. The question is what the error-code of 11 may mean. If it's a Windows error code, it is ERROR_BAD_FORMAT which means "An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format", or else an executable or DLL failed to load. It may be quite hard to determine which one actually causes the problem, as an executable or DLL may be loading another DLL (or DLLs), which in turn may be performing system calls, packaged as... DLLs again! The gmax folder contains some few executables and a long list of DLLs. One may be incompatible to the version of Win7 you are using. Try to run gmax in compatibility mode. What's your Win7 version, 32-bit or 64-bit?
Maybe try to run the executables in the folder one by one and see if they load.
I have a 64-bit Windows 7 I tried to run the BAT / gmax compatibility running XP Service Pack 2 I tentatively rendered in three buildings in the quality of draft and this time advised that no problems. I hope therefore that leaving gmax XP compatibility, I will be able to finish their work and get on with new projects.
In any case, thanks for any tips and suggestions.
I think that the problem is gone.
