Anybody have info on the possible new version of the NAM? maybe a new features list?
Well i had a lookie at the German version (link (http://sc4files.simszone.de/files.php?cat=29))
The biggest addition is the underground rail puzzle pieces
There is also the curved rail piece, and some useful diagonal street pieces.
thats all thats new, i think.
I am really tempted to DL the German version but I have dial-up so I don't wanna spend all that tme just to have to replace it with the English version as soon as Dirk gets it up on ST. From what I have seen it looks pretty kool. I'm hoping someone might post a few more shots of the new stuff for us to see here.
---Gaston
hmm sounds okay i really had my hopes set on ground highway onslope puzzle pices to conntect with elevated highway, guess i will just have to wait and see, the curved rail is interesting but i will have to see how that works, thanks for the replies and if anyone can offer anything new that would be cool.
%BUd%
I just remembered that David has a picture of the curved rail piece at 3RR in the mayor's diaries. You might check that out.

Hmmmmm...
New things

(I was planning to make the highway onslope piece)
Thanks Fukuda for the preview. Can't wait till Dirk uploads the new Nam onto ST. It looks sweet.

Are you one of the creators? Don't you think it would be detracting from their hard work if you started distributing it freely and, I assume, without their consent?
well i guess first ill ahev to ask them but im sure since its already released at simszone its ok or if im worng then forget it.
so there are on slope ground highway pieces? if not i don't think i am gonna download this new NAM there doesn't look like any thing i really need. thanks for the pics &apls
alek king, I don't know about the highway pieces but there are some cool additions. i like the curved rail and the diagonal street pieces.
the curved rail looks interesting but i have questions are they puzzle pieces, if so how many tiles do they take up, can you build right up to the curves? will the curved sections always have no base texture?
and i thought we already had diagonal streets, what is different about these?
Ah, but these are special diagonal street puzzle-type pieces. There are several of varying lengths that you can plop -- much better than the current method of right, left, right, left, right left -- very cool and ergonomic, to boot. Also, the diagonal pieces are more slope friendly (I hope that's a good way to describe it) than the current method of laying diagonal streets.
The curve looks to be about 7x3 tiles and I don't know about the rest of what you asked.
(uh, looks over shoulder, is it ok to be talking about this or am I ruining the suspense? -- if i shouldn't be telling you this, then please ignore what i've just said - i don't know what i'm talking about)
Okay, I've given in. I am dl'n the German NAM. Andreas said it was okay. So I don't feel too guilty. I'm assuming I just need to unzip to the plugins. (readme will be in German) But Andreas said to delete the German translation file. I wasn't sure which that is. Anybody DL'd it from simzone.de and know what file to delete? I just couldn't wait for it any longer and Simtropolis seems to be having so many problems as of late. I'm not even sure when they are gonna find Dirk to upload it. Oh well, as someone important (John F. Kennedy) once said linkie (http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/june/26/newsid_3379000/3379061.stm) "Ich bin ein Berliner." Looool, yes, that's the meaning $%Grinno$%
I think the file you're searching for is the "NetworkAddonMod_Translation_Plugin_deutsch.dat". Save before trying it, so you don't have to re-install if it's not the searched file ;)
Thank you FromTheAshes,
I have always found it funny that his speach writers didn't catch that. I wish now I had taken German in college when I had the chance. It always interested me. I can usually do a fairly descent job of reading it. Not the details just a few of the main words.
Thanks Again for the info.

Well, german is a dificult language to learn but allways useful I think...
Ok, if you any problems, feel free to ask.
Back to topic now, you can write me a personal amssage if you want /&HiPP/%
@Gaston, you should be able to follow the prompts, even if they're in German. Just remember to click the + for the different options so you can select the optional components (path finding, etc).

I saw a very funny stand-up clip about this by Eddie Izzard...
Anyway, one question: What are the elevated pieces in the last picture?
uuuggghhh no ground highway onslope pieces
totally weak sauce. :angrymore:
-the curved rail is nice but very impractical in use (imo) for urban/semi urban areas.
will be very nice for making farms, rural areas.
-the street pieces are kinda cool, i like the slope conforminess. (one of best additions)
-the dual networking stuff i am not a fan of, always have had issues with.
(very crashy and can't get traffic to flow right)
-the new highway ramps are pretty cool but not amazing.
Overall new NAM review 5/10
some nice upgrades (curved rail, diag street, ramps)
some key pieces missing (trumpet interchanges, ect)
The new NAM is being released now to this site as well, as a registered members download ;)
Is that the english version?
QuoteIs that the english version?
Yes it is ;)
 Thanks a million to all who helped put this gem together and to jeronij for hosting it. I couldn't imagine SC4 without the NAM.

You are welcome twice ;) . Some of the custom bridges are mine as well #stsfd·
Thank You sooooo much Jeronij. I am DLing the English version while I type this. I couldn't tell what I did wrong while installing the German version but it doubles some of the stuff in the menus and didn't load some other stuff. So I am gonna uninstall the German version and reinstall the English version. (Already uninstalled.) At least then I'll know what the heck I am doing. I am REALLY happy I joined this site all that time ago. And I am even happier that I really started participating in stuff here. You have got a great place here. Thanks for hosting it and making it available to us all. &apls

Edit: (Still only 60% DL'd. I hate dial up. /sad¬¬)
Okay maybe this is a stupid question but here it goes.
Do I need to uninstall my original (OCT 200?) version of NAM or is this just an ADDON to that one? I was thinking that might explain why I have 2 sets of RHWs and 2 sets of puzzles pieces for a bunch of the items. I'll wait till it finishes downloading and the read the read me. Maybe that will tell me. I know what everyone is thinking. ("Sheesh, what a noob question that was." ) Well maybe someone else out there was just too afraid to ask it, so I did. LOL Anyway thanks again, Jeronij.
Thanks jeronij!
I was also hoping for highway onslope pieces and glr onslope pieces. But nice work on the new NAM everyone who helped  Thanks for uploading it here Jeronij
Okay I answered my own question about the uninstall. But now I have another. Is anyone else having a problem with NAM not letting them use either the dual network(undergroung train) or the train curve if they have the Rural Highways installed. I've tried several times last night and when I had the rural highways in there, I can't access either of the items listed above. When I take it out, no problem, they are there. Anyone have any suggestions?
---Gaston
I had that. Either you remove the Rural Higway (you don't need it any more) or you install the NAM inside a folder greater that the letter "R", for instance on a folder called ZZZ or similar.
Thanks Rayden,
I kinda figured it was the problem files. As far as not needing it. NAM doesn't have a RHW that I have found. Does it??? Do I have another issue I didn't even know about?. I sorta like the RHW but I suppose I could just as easily use ground highways and maybe add the asphalt texture to them. Thats if that texture won't mess up something too??? I suppose I'll try loading the RHW in a file that is lettered less than "N" (aphabetically).
---Gaston
there is going to an update for the Rural Highway soon. this will make it compatible with the new NAM. keep checking the RHW thread on Simtropolis as the update will most likely be posted as a link in there.
Thanks mjig_dudy,
I keep jumping back and forth between this site and that one hoping someone will let me know. Rayden said that the RHW was part of the knew NAM already. I can't seem to find it, if it is. Do you know if that is the case or not?
---Gaston
Well if it is part of the NAM i haven't found it yet.
Ive used both the German and English version and all there was was the ANT and it simply displayed normal road textures
Well mjig_dudy,
I have actually answer my own question over at the ST rural highway developement thread. The answer is no. But there will be a new RHW out very soon (according to the thread) that will be fully compatable with the new NAM. I think it will be out in just a few days!!!! I hope.
---Gaston
After a few attempts I managed to have the new NAM and still have the RHW, you have to install the new NAM in a folder that loads after the RHW modd.

No BATters, no interchanges... Batting an interchange is a real pain in the.... neck, and no one is interested :-[
yeah i thought i had seen a BAT model of one in the NAM development thread on ST a while back all the things i mentioned of missing were things i had seen in that thread.
Hey guys, did you notice with the new NAM that:
- The PC is much slower especially when bulldozing pieces of streets combined with buildings (all data installed as standard)
- Some puzzle pieces do not fit in their original place if you accidently destroy them. I have found this out with a NAM highway interchange (which I love to use as it is much, MUCH better looking than the cloverleaf that comes standard).
- the crash bug is increased (now PC crashes randomly)
Any one of you have the same experience or other experiences that you may share here?
Nik-Nik
I am using the previous version right now %BUd% %BUd%
Mmmm, very strange.....I have made some tests, and I have noticed that the game chrashes when you try to place a puzzle piece over an existing transit network. It happens to me when I try to place a simple road over rail piece. BAM !!! Out of the game. It also happened when I tried to place a railover road piece, but this time the chrash ocurred when the piece was incidentally over a railroad....
I will check if the version hosted here is somehow corrupted....I´ll see if it needs updating. I´ll contact Andreas Roth about this. In the meantime I have removed the linkies to the NAM.
I have installed the one from toutsimcity in french, and I do not experienced any crashes. I'm only laying down my transit netowrk for now
The only thing I can't find is the new european highway exits, but I have not search a lot
I will download the ST ones, and try them tonight. I also asked Andreas for a had with this, and he will answer soon ;)
hmzzzz maby it's me...but i don't have problems with the new NAM...it works just better then the old one...:)
but i noticed that i never have problems with the things that other people have.
next time i'll play the game sober, maby then i'll notice something strange ???
SO, finally a had the time to test everything, and I have to say that nothings seems to be wrong with the last version. It seems I wanted to place a piece where I should not, and there was an old bridges mod laying in my computer.... :-[ So only a big confusion.
Nik-Nik, I dont know what may be happening with your installation, but check twice that you have no duplicated NAM files. Also, if you use some mod which is not included in the NAM, mak sure you have the latest version ( rural streets, euro highway, GLR and so on). I hope you find the bug ::)
i also did not have a problem with it as much as i did not need the added content and size right now
I did notice that Darmok, in his Anduin Valley cj on ST, commented on finding the new NAM slower, and posed the question to his cj readers asking what results they were experiencing with the new version.
I haven't been able to get back into his cj in the last couple of days to see the responses. His cj seems to take forever to load up. ST probelms maybe?
My game is crashing when trying to use the nam rail puzzle piece (rail on slope), but ive found it no longer crashes if i remove these files JS_rail_Trestle_road / JS_rail_Trestle_avenue / or the JS_rail_Trestle_highway plugin's( i had to remove all the bridges in my city 1st) should these files need to be updated for the new nam :'( or have i just been lucky. ?
please any help welcome.
Mark,
Those need to be updated.
Yes, you may want to contact the creator to see if there is an upgrade available for that bridge, and post a linkie here when you have it ;)
Jeronij,
I just tried sending JayStimson a private message over at Simtropolis to no avail. I'll leave a comment in one of his bridge's that he posted.
I understand. I havent tested JS bridges so I cant be of much help for this issue ::)
Thanks guys
yeah it's the bridges alright been playing all afternoon without a crash.
just playing without atm :)
I have installed the new NAM and do not seem to have any trouble. However, the new NAM does not have all those radical transit mods to reduce communte times. Now I am having a problem with "no job" zots and abandoned buildings. Is it possible to get those transit mods with the new NAM? If so how do I go about reinstalling the transit mods into the new NAM. Someone please help. thanks
when u install it there are options where u can add features like the turning lane and other stuff like that also u can click on what transit pathfinding mod u can include....if im not mistaken u can pic anywhere from commutespeeds to pathfinding...may wanna check it over in the installation process
The latests NAM version (January 2007) is available in the home page www.sc4devotion.com , linked in the main menu (just in case you need it ;) )

Actually, the double-decker (el-rail) pieces are already included in the current NAM, but the good news is that you now can decide if you want to install them or not. The same goes for the entire GLR network. But yes, there's a whole bunch of new stuff in the next version, and we put a lot of effort into it, so new content can be developed and integrated much faster than before. :)
I said something over in the another forum that I should post in every forum here.

Oh, haha, I guess I was wishing too much. :P But that's still good, that there's more modularity for what you want to install (since I never use underground rail and rarely use the double-decker pieces).
Wishful thinking, eh? ;) But don't worry, other stuff is already under development and will be included eventually - it only needs time...
Looks good from this end, Andreas.

Smart man, Andreas. Smart man. ;)
now that weve seen a teaser from NAM im eager to see a teaser for the RHW pack :D
WOW! That teaser alone is making me salivate! I can't wait!
LOL, breaking out the black highlighter, Andreas?
This tells me that it'll be coming out relatively soon. Smart money's on June. :P
i normally am a betting man ..... ::).......i give good money itll be this weekend! :P
I'll bet on the first week of June.
It may be sooner than you think and it may be later than you think . . . no one expects the NAM . . . except . . . well . . . the NAM itself. Some of you just might be close. Or you might be far. ;)
And Filasimo, there are some interesting things planned for the RHW after the NAM. You will see in due time. ;)
Just thought I'd come by and drop my obligatory nebulous comment. $%#Ninj2

I was wondering if the textures on the s-curve and others for the normal 2-way highways are going to be fixed in the next NAM ?????
Well, if someone creates better textures, they'll surely be included in the next version...
@packerfanQuoteI was wondering if the textures on the s-curve and others for the normal 2-way highways are going to be fixed in the next NAM ??
@andreasQuoteWell, if someone creates better textures, they'll surely be included in the next version...
That'd be me... I actually had better textures done right about release time for the recent NAM and got caught up in other stuff. Alex (Tarkus) kindly spent the time to send me a step-by-step for applying them to the curves- I'll get that stuff back out over the next few days and get that work done. I agree, the textures should be way better, but it's great to see (thanks to Alex and memo) that the curves themselves work otherwise just about flawlessly.
Thanks for your patience, folks.
David
yes the curves that are in the current release work very well, they take a bit of getting used to plop but overall very nice
i wonder if there is a sunken to elevated highway piece.... i know you can do it just by using a slope mod on the sunken closer up to grade then using ground to elevated.... just fantasizing ;D
great work guys
