Post by: jlasao790 on May 20, 2012, 06:02:26 PM
is it possible to make a building into a prop..(a bat that was downloaded from the exchange) some of the contents in the plugins folder, some of the buildings, i can see it on the prop tab on the LE..how does that work...is there a tool that will let me extract a certain file and turn that certain file into a prop?

This is a very simple operation ...
You can do it with "SC4 Plugin Man" tool. Only save Your model "as PROP" - no more ...
Good Luck ...

Not sure what you wish to do, please elaborate.

Some tips:
- A model can be used as either a main building, or as a prop (or both).
- To generate a prop exemplar open PM (Plugin Manager), select the desired model and drag-and-drop it on the "Prop" node; before clicking OK set the desired paramaters (and I would suggest that you choose a better name too). This will create a .SC4Desc file in the main "Plugins" folder.
- Then you can use the prop in the Lot Editor; if the prop is larger than your lot it won't appear in the list.
- You don't need to "extract" anything, the new exemplar will be referencing the model (located in another plugin, it's OK). You may NOT include the others' work in your plugins and release it, instead you can include the (new) prop exemplar and list the model/download as a dependency.

Hope this helps.
