Title: Airplane Models Version One and Beyond!
Post by: Kumba on June 11, 2007, 03:03:47 PM
Please ask any questions regarding the "Airplane Models Version One" here. I would be happy to clear up any confusion, complaints, etc about this release.

Also, if you have any suggestion for Version Two, which will be dubbed as "International Pack" containing liveries from around the world.
If you are a Lotter, Photoshop Specialist, or a Modder, I could appreciate your help in this pack to make it EVEN better than the first one.

Thank you!

Are the logos (and tailfins) - I'm talkng about the flying ones, not the static props - read correctly at both sides? The ingame ones are simply "mirrored", so one side is just "flipped". But those have no problem, they just don't have any logos/letters, just some fancy livery.

Cogeo-

ALL of the three version, Runway, Static, and Landing has the correct texture, the letters are facing the correct way and not backwards. This pack DOES NOT replace the "ingame animated airplanes" these are props that appear all time, and do not move.

I hope I answered your question.

I saw these on the Lex but have just realised their potential.  We can finally have airports with planes in many different liveries at the stands.  This will make a big difference to the realism of my airports.  A BIG thank you!

Where can I find stactic displays of Boeing 767's with different airlines.  I came across an example from ST.

Young,

You will either need to make the Lots yourself or wait for someone else to make Lots and release them to the public. The download only contains the SC4Model and SC4Desc files for the props.

Hi Kumba, I understand that these models were used with the original creator's consent. How did you manage to convert the models from the .mdl format into something useable by the BAT?

It is called, mdl2dxf4.

You can seach it up on yahoo or google. It converts .mdl into gmax model, but there sometimes are disortions in the conversion, IE, the wing being bent in a weird shape. It also doesnt texture the plane for you so you have to do that for youself. If you are not well off with Gmax, then it is proably not worth the time since you will need to use Gmax a lot to fix up the plane.

Also a word to everyone, I am currently working with Filasmo and other members to release Lotted version of the 767, but Filasmo will not be able to do it after he finished with the diagonal runway project. So don't expect it anytime soon, if you want a lotted version, all I can suggest is that you find a friend who knows how to lot to lot it for you, or ask Cj'ers for the lot.

Excuse me for a stupid questíon, but when I unzipped the downloaded file, I just got a very large models.DAT and a rather small props.dat file, how do I get a specific aircraft out of these to put in the LE?

Swesim its not a stupid question at all, but a good one... first have that dat file in your plugins folder then All you need to do is go into LE and you find the planes in there in the props but you must have a large enough lot for the models to even show up... I advise about to start a 10x10 lot then you can trim down from there, its been awhile since i lasted checked the planes and i hope that helps out at least a little - pat
