Title: i cant grow stage 4 farms!
Post by: k3nnyw on August 02, 2012, 08:32:09 PM
Hello,

I have a question about stage 4 and up farms. I can never grow them, my regional population of the industry is about 180,000 as it says in the camelot counter, and I have fire protection and water. The highest thing that seems to grow is Pedriana Plants and even so it only grows about 10% of the time. What am I doing wrong?

Sorry for the late answer, I just got back from my summer holidays...

Well, ah, the Education and wealth of the Sim population are related. Better educated sims will 'upgrade' from R$ to R$$, and R$$$. R$ Sims like dirty industry, CS$, and farms especially. Could it be that your education is too high?

Have a look at this topic for more detailed info about wealth vs. education and what jobs sims are looking at specific education levels. http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=1878.0 (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=1878.0)

Remember that the chance that at stage 4 farm will grow is about 18 - 19 % with that amount of regional industrial capacity. There is no guarantee.

What size farm zones are you creating? Most of the stage 4 farms are large.

I personally don't have difficulty with stage 4 and 5 farms. I use the water restriction to create the growing conditions for a stage 4 farm near a village or small town. But the game may be choosing Pedrina's plants because of the physical size of the building. I would suggest getting something like Grandpa Al's Pedrina's Plants blocker ... and see what happens. That would replicate my plugins somewhat. I redid the Maxis farms to suite my taste, and block Pedrina's Plants all together. There is a two page discussion about what Maxis chooses to grow, when, and why. Building size is one of the criteria. http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=4441.0 (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=4441.0)

By the way, in your game, what is the growth stage of Pedriana's Plants?

Can't think of anything else right off hand. Good Luck
