Title: Kavalcha|Returning 12/12/12
Post by: kinderly on September 16, 2012, 09:42:49 AM
Hello everyone on SC4D! I am very happy and sad to announce my new MD. My last MD couldn't continue because my computer crashed, again. :angrymore: I really hate it when all of my work goes to waste. But I hope this new MD can make it past that barrier.

The apocalypse has occurred, Major coastal cities have been destroyed by floods. A new area has been explored, and is a perfect area for the world's capital. Kavalcha lies in a bay surrounded by mountains, located near Canada. The new city, or county I should say is ^. The first city in this new land is Welford, it will be built in the area where the Mayfate River meets the Welford Bay.

With the flooding of the world, a new bay has been formed, and is currently being explored and mapped. We have found the perfect place for the world capital. The new city is named Welford, after Harvey Welford, who was the first to explore this great region. Although the city will be built on wetlands, we have the tools, and crews to do the job of filling in the marshes, and making the wetlands into canals.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Apr8131347845265.png&hash=34abfde0ccd298fa936e25abd16d33563face29a)
This area is heavily forested, what trees we cut down we will try to make up for by planting more in every way possible.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Apr27131347845333.png&hash=1b95317437fb087e80a60f15c37bfdbb2f4fa10c)
There are many rivers in this area, there is a risk of flooding, we must plan carefully.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Apr13131347845284.png&hash=8383afb31feef3b495976b19e72a1b6a4ea8a8fc)
These marshes are scattered across the wetlands. We have a lot of work ahead of us.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-May5131347845358.png&hash=d681e7f7eb27f68eeddeabb2f3ef1c2436ede05f)
This is an area that can be used for a waterway or boat docks.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-May19131347845439.png&hash=8e685e782650591461c444c5e7f9ab428617d132)
The island that will house the upper part of the CBD of Welford.

Next update we will see the beginning of construction in Welford. ;)

BTW, are you going to be posting every day? I would LOVE that, but you don't have to exhaust yourself. I once did that and I got exhausted.  :P

Welford, AKA Kavalcha City. Founded by Harvey Welford when he explored the territory near Canada in 2013. This is after the apocalypse on Dec 21, 2012. 1/6 of the world was lost, and now has been recovered. Welcome to Welford!

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Jul21341348263818_zps7229f9bf.png&hash=128bb363818eb1da70a3c7ec1ea4c07153405c3b)
The main CBD, on the Argent Peninsula. The tallest building in this area is the Walton Plaza Building.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Jun12381348337831_zpsda6f214d.png&hash=765972715c1de63b77c4f4baa5286cf41746d1b8)
The World Center has a resemblence to the WTC in New York City. Important business is carried out here, it is very confidential.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Jun2351348322290_zps55581b9e.png&hash=62998e22104f8ca3d4a569f35c05c50176ac2455)
Near the World Center is the Assembly Dome, and Sky Spire. The AD holds the Kavalcha General Assembly.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Sep20371348336738_zps9e854d99.png&hash=636afe2c3ac92934c346f826ca6a337722954eaa)
Also in the World Center is the Earth Monument, dedicated to those who died in 2012. Many citizens come here to mourn fallen cities and loved ones.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDGTTG_zpsbef6cf76.png&hash=3484afba0677c8973e0385b3f5f2d0095924b924)
The Harvey Tower, again near the World Center is dedicated to the founder of this great city, and one of the tallest freestanding structures in the west hemisphere.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Apr1411348338655_zpsfd9f9026.png&hash=4bb667fa9a2f99615009ab95111f1de67ae3fefc)
Back to the Argent Peninsula we see the docks where cargo is imported into Kavalcha.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Jul21341348263734_zps51978e10.png&hash=fcec88d17183a6b88fb0e6bed06498d53b7e1fe2)
Apartment buildings, and hotels near the CBD are tall, and skinny yet somehow house millions of people who work in Welford.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Mar1161347887994_zps7becce61.png&hash=c2681225b6e309a8aac912b225c1324e73670540)
Away from the hustle and bustle of the main city are the bay side condos, and the Welford Clock Tower.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Feb19151347886981_zpsa2c6678a.png&hash=5795bb068550e5902b32b383c4bbd284901a07a7)
Another monument only it provides beautiful views of the wetlands, and the city.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Sep3341348264758_zpsb2cca4c1.png&hash=890fda28a88fd8704abde28c6ec2a53dcb34dae8)
This leads us to Welford's industrial district. Where we not only produce products, but research ways to reduce CO2 emissions in the city.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Aug4341348264207_zps6813360f.png&hash=1413f24e9c79e60ff00a1d79fa949db84ff62d7e)
The Welford Beltway, or I-2. This freeway sees billions of cars each day.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Jul1411348342896_zps79b55f20.png&hash=9cf1dbb799c4f336709f37a0a0b20d1f31284383)
One of the interchanges on the freeway, we have planted some of the plants and trees native to the area.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Apr5411348338676_zps55e611d2.png&hash=719401c6e7ca7fb9a2f840667e148591c12d4841)
Of course we left some of the marshes undisturbed.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-May19401348338349_zpsec9174e8.png&hash=7675425db6d6f2698857232a691cb65009608930)
Now let's see where millions upon millions eat, rest, and spend their off time. The suburbs are in the main wetlands. We had to fill in some of the marshes, and streams but as we see here some were left alone.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1163.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq558%2Fshockwave36%2FDowntownWelford-Mar7411348338550_zps01240146.png&hash=577623bebf2ab9aaab7a502cfb94a2764a31db85)
Our citizens must be well educated, or everything we've built in the past year will crumble and be destroyed.

This was the biggest update we have seen. There's more on the way for Kavalcha!

Don't worry if you don't get comments immediately. It's almost always like that when a MD is created not so long ago, unfortunately. ;)

Your city looks quite nice. You have an interesting mix of tall, small buildings and monuments together. The fact that wetlands are omnipresent is well done.

I liked very much the first suburbs picture. These cul-de-sac streets and housing by the small rivers are awesome.

Keep up the good work!

Awesome work on the last updates  &apls  Your MMPing is top-notch and the buildings are very well chosen. The RHW is perfectly built. One small tip: I'd recommend turning the waves off when you take pictures of small creeks and rivers. Keep it up

Sorry everyone for the lack of updates, I've been hammered with problems. First off my sc4 disk got lost and I ordered a new one. Unfortunately I'm on the east coast so I got a power outage from Sandy, and I think my order might've been delayed because of the storm so Kavalcha will return in early December.
