Title: Tree Controllers
Post by: Diggis on February 02, 2013, 01:34:47 PM
I've been fighting the tree controllers in my region. Previously, I've been able to create things like this:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi302.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fnn110%2FDiggis%2FWatersford%2520CJ%2FGolfOverview.jpg&hash=48e1730fca3fcbdef52e27e6a13caf2185506341)

But I can't find what controller I was using. It should have been one of CP's but none of them seem to plant on flat ground except one, but that only seems to plant pines.

I found this by Lowkee, and wondered if I was missing something.

To be exact, it depends upon temperature and moisture.  Temperature, though, has no purpose other than that it gets colder as altitude increases.  It gets complicated.  C.P.'s controllers mostly don't plant on flat land, and this is because flat land is a specific moisture level.  The areas near water get a moisture boost, and trees get planted.

There isn't a tutorial that I know of. I will put it on my to-do list.

Basically, you will need to be confident in Reader.  Open up a flora exemplar, and check that "Water Flora" is set to false (or non-existent), "Flora:Wild" is set to true, and "Special Case Only" is set to False.  Then, there is a property called "Flora Preferences", which is 256 reps.  If you make all of the reps something other than zero, you will place that flora everywhere.  Each rep is a different moisture/altitude level, so you can really get deep into it.

Does anyone recognise the controller above? I really like the depth of greens it uses and the tree type.

Really? You don't have a smaller picture?

Jokes aside, I think it's a generic deciduous one from this pack (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/12362-cptno7assortedtreecontrollers/).

Why post a bigger picture when I know there are geniuses like you who can pick it from that. I've checked, and you're right, it's that one. I even had it filed away, just didn't look there.

Why, that's what we're here for! Moreover, I think it's a very good sign to see you looking for tree controllers. Means you're playing the game

Ps: Thanks for KP ;)

It's a set I've have for ages called Art Golf. Most likely from the STEX. I modified the textures a long time ago to have no base texture and have changed some of the lots to have the river crossing etc. However I've since lost them.

The ArtGolf set can be found on the STEX: here (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/2643-artgolf-golf-course/) uploaded by doctorgonzo

Joerg's Golf Pack (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/1976-joergs-golf-pack/) and the SC Golf Pack (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/3228-sc-golf-pack/) (which is a re-lot of Joerg's stuff) can also be found there.
