Yet another "My game crashes to Desktop"-thread - sorry for that, but I could need some help on this.
Today, after AVG2013 had updated, it moved "SimCity 4.exe" to virus vault. I tried to restore the Exe, and consequently the file disappeared from vault, but it did not reappear in the Apps folder, either. Another affected file was "~e5d141.tmp" (turns out to be a license verification (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=11520.msg351529#msg351529)).
I then uninstalled SimCity, keeping my regions, and reinstalled to the same default location. Now the main problem: Whenever I start the game, I see the bridge image for a millisecond, the screen turns black for about 30 seconds and the game crashes.
I know there are several reports of such a problem, but I could not determine the cause of the problem nevertheless.
My System configuration: Win7 Professional SP1, 32-bit.

I tried to apply the patches (note the module version above), but I am not sure, if it has been successful because I got the patch error
QuoteOld File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match.
repeatedly. The Patchlog says "Old Files Invalid....... ( 6)". Also note that, neither before, nor after applying the patches, the game would start.
I'd appreciate any help. Right now, I am totally stranded.
Well, I have just sorted it out, and feel very stupid. It turned out I had forgotten to eject the start-up image during the installation process. ::) Everything works fine now after another reinstall. Sorry for the trouble.
