Title: Reducing pollution in a building
Post by: cefien on October 10, 2014, 10:22:31 AM
I just downloaded a power plant that produce so much pollution and i want to reduce it. Is that possible to do with a reader? If so, how?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Yes, and it is easy to do.
BTW this thread

will have most of what you need.

open your new power plant in Reader.
There will be several Exemplar files in the left column. Click on each one until you get the file that has stuff that looks comprehensible. The second line of the exemplar file you want will have "Exemplar Type" in the first column, and "0x00000010" in the second column.
Find the "Pollution at center" listing, right click and select "Edit Property."
A new window will pop up. In the lower pane ("values as text") it will show the values in hex format.
for instance the CSX LSU Wastetech RH plant has these values: "0x00000064,0x00000050,0x0000000F,0x00000000"
The 4 entries correspond to (Air, Water, Garbage, Radiation)
Change these values to what you desire.
hit "set."
hit "apply."
save your file.
Forgetting to set or save is one of the more common errors people make with the Reader.

I strongly suggest that you use an online hex converter rather than using the built in converter. I have had issues in the past editing files in "integer" mode with the values in hex being way wrong.

EDIT: you might have to replop in game, I honestly forget if you have to. The safest thing is to bulldoze the lot from the game before you edit it, the plop a the new version.
