Title: how to render a seawall like nbvc marine?
Post by: chromatin2 on January 06, 2015, 05:23:52 AM
I have a problem to make the rendered pieces to fit with each other,

In 3dmax it is ok, but I rendered some pieces, but in sc4, it can not fit well.

I use 3dmax 2012, and bat4max v5,

Hm, I recall nbvc had some sort of trick for super tight lods. Could have something to do with it. And maybe you could provide an ingame pictures to show the issue?

To get tight LODs you need to can either do two things.

1) Attach the object together and clone it with the name LOD3, LOD4 and LOD5. The default LODing covers the item with a large box which may cause the problems you are experiencing.

2) ALN BAT4MAX has an option to make a complex LOD in the control panel. You can get it from the LEX here: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1992 . This basically makes a skin tight LOD that you can name LOD3, LOD4, and LOD5.

If you need any more info don't hesitate to ask

Could you provide a pictures of how it looks in the game ?

It always helps with pictures as we can better get an idea of the problem.

Thanks to above answers.

I use eggman121's method 1 to generate  tight LODs.
Then rendered it, but in SC4, wall pieces can not connect with each other.
The sc4model is used as props.

Very thanks to -eggman121

According to your suggestion to make tight lods ,I have solved the problem。
another tips:Just put model next to the rendered one, so side-faces will not be rendered, then they fit each other well。

Thanks again

Great to see you got it solved. And excellent seawalls! I really like the mossy stones and the fact they're straight verticals! +1
