Hi, I hope I'm posting this in the right board. Would it be possible for someone with knowledge of terrain mods to find a way to disable the season changes that make the ground become drier in the summer and go back to normal in the winter. I want the ground to just stay the same all the time. I know that I can just wait for it to be winter to save my cities but I really would appreciate it if someone would fix this so I don't have to deal with the changes that I think are ugly.
hmm so is that where the variations come from? on the region view. I didnt think the game did change them... hmmm.... I think it could be done but I'd ahve no clue how
Ya if someone knows how to disable this I would be very thankfull
I don't think it is feasable
Cycledogg knows better the ini file, where terran textures are set, but looking at that file, it does not seems to have such an option &mmm
Ah, that's to bad if it really can't be changed. For some reason though when I switched from Columbus terrain mod to the Meadowshire one the changes stopped, but then I tried some other terrain mods and it started up again. Weird.
it can, just put the same texture for both states, you won't see any change ;D
Hey, Fukuda- that's pretty cryptic. It sounds like you have some really good info if you know how to so this- could you expand on your post a bit and let everyone know exactly what they should be looking for?
Thanks so much- I'm interested in this as well, and really appreciate you helping us out.

Each of the terrain textures, such as the Columbus Terrain Mod, are made of FSH images that have 2 textures in each FSH file. Looking at them in the Reader, you will see "#0" displayed in the dropdown box at the top of the FSH image preview. Clicking on the dropdown box, you have the option of seeing "#1" which is the texture that the image will change to in the drier months. The Maxis terrain textures have the same type of arrangement, but their changes are more subtle.
These "multi-layered" FSH files are what causes the seasonal terrain changes when used with the Terrain INI file that accompanies the particular terrain mod. These parameters are contained within a specific file for each of the terrain mods. The only program that can make "multi-layered" FSH files is FiSHMan.exe which is found in the "Modds & Downloads" section of Simtropolis.
Fixing the terrain images will be a chore because they are "multi-layered" and there are over 100 images to process for each terrain mod that has the seasonal changes, but it can be done. However, I will not be doing it since I have enough work to do for myself and others.
