I've been looking for some help with creating a realistic looking waterfront. I really love the look of the whole PEG CDK lots....but I'm having a heck of a time getting around corners. There doesn't seem to be any good transitional pieces that will fit when I go around an outside corner. I managed, after hours of tinkering, to get a decent inner corner, but can not continue around outer corners with any of the lots in the entire CDK packs.
Can anyone help me, or direct me to someone who can? &mmm
Maybe this can help , you alway can take a look at it

Not really...but I appreciate the quick response. I have some of the Goldiva props, but I don't want a tropical beach. I'm trying to get the north eastern US feel. I'd like my beaches to be functional lots...boardwalks....etc. I use the Appalachian terrain mod. PEG CDK has almost everything I want, but isn't very curve friendly. I like functional realistic looking cities. I think I may have found the place to ask. Simpeg4...I haven't gotten a response yet, but I hope they can help. Thanks again though. The time spent searching for help has been difficult...to say the least.
There're quite a few CDK kits so I can't link the specific one you use, however, I'm fairly sure most if not all of have outer corners. Best place to look for them is on Simpeg indeed, specifically here (http://www.simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=downloads;cat=12)
I have them all...Here's the problem I have. You'll notice I was using different seawalls.
You see I need a boardwalk piece 2 blocks wide and only one block deep. (I don't intend to connect the boardwalk with the sea walls..I just haven't gotten rid of them here yet.)
I want the PEG boardwalk to come all the way around to meet up on the other side. As I said...I have all the PEG CDK...but nothing seems to handle this.
I managed to make it work with transitions from OWW to OWW2. I must have forgot to install the PEG-OWW2 RCI Boardwalks and only installed the OWW ones. Thanks again for all the help. Here is what I got so far, I'll see if I can tweak it with the OWW2's.
...the transition...
..and the other side. This is my first city in SC4, and I've completely built it....yet I still haven put in any zones yet. lol I'm experimenting. There are some big differences from SC3K. Realistic and functional is what I'm after. SC5 looks to cartoonish for me. Thanks again...any other ideas are more than welcome to this newbie.
Ah yes, transitioning to and from different kind of marina and seawalls kits will take some creativity. You've done a great job!
I dumped the entire CDK thing a long time ago.
It was more frustrating than rewarding to use. It was a sad day to let it go, his industrial water front was on the verge of being the best thing for water fronts ever until he got side tracked by the wooden stuff and never went back. Between difficulty in getting stuff to plop and line up, and nothing from other authors working with it, it was just too much hassle to keep.
To make matter worse, documentation is terrible. Dependency packs are just "here is every thing you need." and I end up with the same prop 50 times.
Now I have a mix of stuff from all over. Paeng's is the only SDK based plops I have. Google Workingman-productions. There is some great water front stuff there. There is a ton of it, and it is very modular. Other than that, I just searched the LEX for Waterfront. I got some stuff from STEX too, but I avoid STEX when I can.
BTW, be careful with the Simpeg port controller. It does not play nice with any other freight controller for rail, water, or air. The controller is part of one of the shipping ports. It will cause an "unable to load" error and you will lose the entire tile

Yeah...I agree. PEG CDK is frustrating...and Stex. The whole thing is becoming frustrating. I wanted to use Addon for Wall & Embankment Sets Pedestrian Stairs & Ramps and Underbridge Lots...but at least one of the dependencies...Nob's Texture Pack = Ftextures.dat is impossible to find. They provide a link to it, but it's in Japanese...I don't read Japanese, and any translator I use makes them sound like morons.
I get this kind of thing way too often. The game requires most of your time just to find and install things. I'm pretty busy in the RW...I don't have time to jump through hoops finding junk. :angrymore:
Perhaps you misunderstood how these lots work, they are additional pieces for various different wall sets, if you do not already have a given wall set installed they are not going to be very useful.
In addition, these walls (quite popular too I believe) are by a Japanese creator and to my knowledge were never available on the English-speaking exchanges. That said Bing Translate does an acceptable job, it should be obvious where the walls set is located if you use that.
I get the way they work...but there is the additional problem...I couldn't find what "wall set" they are addons to. lol Frustrating to say the least. I'll probably eventually figure it out...it may be added into another dependency that I already DL'd. I'll find out when I attempt to install it today.
