Hello
So I have this region. I put a couple of pics in the attachments. Anyways, as you can see, most of my industry is situated north of town, and there are both roads and rails going in that direction, among others. However, the road in red does not go to that big industrial zone. In fact, it seemingly goes in a circle as far as I've noticed, and it goes out north to Squalicum Creek, but does not go further north to the industrial zone, but to Toad Creek instead. the road to the industrial zone to the north is color-coded green. That is strange, if you compare the amount of jobs in that industrial are to the few farms and coal mine in Toad Creek.
Can anyone help? Also, can anyone tell me how to take pictures in-game with hotkeys? I tried holding ctrl, then shift and then S, but nothing happened, no pics were saved to albums. I would have shown you guys the actual traffic pictures in the city tiles Bellingham, Squalicum Creek, Toad Creek and Whatcom Falls, but seemingly I cannot.
Also, I have the NAM installed, with mass transit usage at high, and base network capacity also at high. I have the highway bus lanes (but I don't have highways in the region), I do not have the park & ride, and have the buses contribute to traffic under options.
Please halp? It's weird when I want to expand my infrastructure, but the logical pattern is not what is shown on data.

Taken screenshots, I would recommend using other programs to do that.
I use Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.net/) myself:
- Start Irfanview.
- Press C to start the screencapture function.
- Prees a hot key combintion you picked
With Irfanview you can save directly to jpg.
The game screencapture takes the game to a hold and takes some time.
This seems like pretty typical behavior.
Have you heard about the "eternal commuter problem"? Commuters tend to go to the tile that is quickest to get to. So if you make a small "loop" covering the corner of 4 tiles, commuters will tend to enter one tile and then exit right away.
From what I have read on this site, this behavior apparently is either very difficult or impossible to fix directly for some reason or another.
The only thing I have found is being clever with my neighbor connections so traffic does not leave the tile right away, and utilizing highways so that it is quicker for a commuter to get to work than it is to leave the tile.
Isn't it possible to just make normal screenshots?
The eternal commuter problem sounds pretty lame! I can try to make an avenue just to see what happens. Didn't know that sims also liked to get out of the city tile with the nearest route. Why do they do that?
Also, it would totally awesome if smileymk commented on the way I organized my region! I have been inspired by his work at the realistic cities for dummies!

Ask SC4's original programmers why they made the simulation that way ~LOL
