Title: 1x1 lot request easy please help
Post by: JAYJAY138 on September 07, 2015, 05:00:35 AM
Hello, i have come back to the city after many years away, i used to use pc bot now i am on mac and i am having the worst time trying to find any way whatsoever to run lot editor on my mac os, i am simply not savvy enough to make it work and its just confusing. i used to have all of these wonderful little 1x1 ploppable lots covered with different colours of azaleas, and flowers, made from the grass lot o that conform to contour, i really like the way they look as fill for the spaces. if anyone could direct me to or whip up some lots like this i would be very very greatful as im having a fit being stuck on wanting this particular thing for my city and i think we all know how awful that can be. It is just a few simple, 1x1 ploppable made from the open grass area, only thickly covered in flowers , red azaleas, blue hydrangeas, lavender, et.c i originally was doing something like the azores with them, islands covered in flowers. i hope this is in the right spot, and thanks for your time and help, and i look forward to building with you!

Would this suit your needs?

Wildflower Puzzle Pieces 2 (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/12134-wildflower-puzzle-pieces/) is a good one

Thanks ! i'll use them. I had seen those, and they are great, but i was looking for something with less or no dependancy , just plain old grass thickly covered in 1 color of flower each,  from the basic props, so that it makes a red square, or a blue square, i believe i had red, orange, lavender, blue, yellow, white. i also had several assortments of squares with different trees or props, designs in flowers or even houses as props, but those being so unique to me, i had hoped someone else had something like that that they used that they could share.  what would be really awesome is if i could get the lot editor running because this is the simplest thing , does anyone know ? i have used crossover because i cant use anything that requires a windows license, and i continually get an error message  when it goes to start up, in the wxPython:stdout/sterr labeled box that reads

'Traceback (most recent call last):
File "SC4PIMApp.pyo", line 3454, in OnClose
File "SC4PIMApp.pyo", line 3457, in ShowMain
File "SC4PIMApp.pyo", line 2883, in __init__
File "SC4PIMApp.pyo", line 3213, in LoadDatas
pywintypes.error: (2, 'RegOpenKeyEx', 'File not found.')

which isnt like any of the errors i researched here on the site. why oh why does it have to be so difficult to do this on mac os, oh why! lol

Guessing from the error message you're trying to run the SC4PIM? If so: it seems like it can't find SC4 entry in the registry, which it needs to check to find the installation folder. Not sure how to go about handling that in Crossover though. . If you have the resources to do so, you might want to consider running a full fledged Windows OS via Bootcamp.

What about the original Maxis lot editor, does that also thwart your attempts at running under OSX too?

Yup, my attempt to open the original lot editor was also unsuccessful. argh. i can't run anything that requires a windows license. :(

ok, so i got around it by downlaoding the pacific northwest terrain mod and using the wildflower puzzle pieces, which gave me what i wanted, a nice vibrant green base with flowers , it still is a shame i cant get any lot editor to work though, i terribly miss my flower lots, they were very useful for projects like the azores ( blue hydrangeas on a grass tile) and others. still not exactly what i wanted, but hey, now i have redwoods and pacific northwest terrain which is i think much more attractive than the original. ta!
