Title: Does the Subway-to-Elevated Transition work?
Post by: bmburke on January 02, 2016, 10:43:03 AM
The Subway-to-Elevated Transition does not appear to work.  Elevated trains simply disappear into the transition and do not turn into subway trains.

In normal view the train enters the transition.  Switching to the subway view, one would expect to see a subway train but there is none.

In addition, I have sub/el networks where an elevated track transitions to sub because of an obstacle, runs under the obstalce, then re-transitions to elevated once the obstacle is cleared.  Trains disappear into the transition (to subway) but do not reappear at the next transition (from subway).

Very disappointing and not at all like trains and road vehicles that disappear into tunnels and reappear on the other side exactly as expected.

BTW, I have connected the transitions from the center tile (not the edge) as many have suggested but the problem appears when connected to the edge as well.

Comments or solutions?  Thanks in advance.

That's because it's transitioned into subway, and unlike the other kinds of transport you mention, subway doesn't have any automata. I can't give you the technical answer as to why, but as far as I know no one has figured out any solution to that.

A workaround to make the automata reappear would be to use el-rail <--> tram converter, then the tram FLUPs (i.e. tram to underground tram, not subway -- because it is still tram, the automata remains) piece contained in the FLUPs tab ring.
