Title: This new venture is not loving me back
Post by: Pythias900KMB on March 16, 2016, 10:16:00 AM
Salutations, everybody!!!  I have decided to expand outside my comfort zone a bit by making a slight change to how I construct highway-to-highway interchanges; as you can see from the screen captures, I have placed the L0 A2 MIS fly-under ramps a bit to the inside than I usually do in an attempt to constrain the overall footprint of the interchange -- a bit of a challenge when it has to be borne in mind that the puzzle piece will appear just to the outside of where the mouse cursor is positioned.  Even with that problem out of the way, another appeared to take its place.  The outside weaving carriageways for the east-west highway have been built on L1 viaducts so that they do not interfere the fly-under ramps while all four carriageways for the north-south highway are built on L2 viaducts for the same reason.  Please look closely at the fly-under ramps . . . I have made certain to choose different altitudes for all the elements of this interchange; still ... how do I redress the fly-under ramps that got broken during the construction process?

Simply, you cannot superpose 3 networks on just one tile. Add one tile of distance to one of the directions of the interchange, thus avoiding the flexfly to pass under both networks in the same tile.

Yes, I believe this might unfortunately be true. I think I tried to do something similar to this when I was building my 5-way interchange (see the videos in my MD by clicking below in my signature--I know, shameless plug), and I ended up having to give myself extra space due to it not working right at first.

It's been explicitly stated that 3-stacked Intersections are not possible on the same tile. This is because SC4 networks are not dynamic. Every intersection has to be coded, and there are far too many combinations of 3 networks interacting for it to be viable. Memo did post a 3-stacked center tile 4-way stack interchange on the forums a few years ago. It did, in fact, work, but this was because the center tile was a plopped puzzle piece made specially for developing testing.

Its unlikely to be made possible while SC4 remains a grid-based game with a texture based network system (i.e. never).
