The surprise, for me, is that it caused a total CTD : I plopped it and the city crashed when I tried to let it run to see the (I supposed) Xmas lights. Impossible to reopen the city afterwards. It was a test-city, no biggie, I purged the Add Test folder, deleted the tile and opened a new city there, no problem, but still... I know it's Easter, but the surprise is definitely not an Easter Egg. :)
Has anyone tried that lot and had the same surprise ?
Are you running SC4 on Software Rendering?
The download states it's HD, which usually causes problems if your game isn't running under Direct X Hardware Rendering. It works fine on my system here.

Nah. I'm in Hardware rendering, 36 bits. And as it was a test-city there was not a frapload of custom content to muddy the waters:-) Could it be that Jenx tree conflicted with Mattb325's HD versions of MJB trees, which I had added that time ??? (grasping at straws...) I also noticed that Paeng Scarecrow -- which was supposed to be in there too, didn't show up in the park menu as it should have.
Hm. I'm gonna try with only Jenx tree and see it if CTDs again.

No CTD. I reintroduced the five custom lots I was testing at the time and nothing untoward happened. Must have been a cosmic ray or something.
But what is the surprise supposed to be ? Nothing lights up. Does it work only in a full giganormous city ?
Turn on the night lighting and zoom out on the 25th. I don't think you'll miss it ;).
As for the cause, I wondered if it might be the effects? I checked and there is no texture above 256px, which is usually fine anyhow. Like you say, could just be one of those random events.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's one of those surprises that requires you be zoomed out to see.
Never used it, personally (though it's stashed inside my plugins anyways), but I do recall that it was a surprise best seen from a distance.
OK, then, I'll take a balloon ride:-) Thank you all !
