As an Aussie the main game played where I live is Rugby League. Would it be possible to change the field markings and goal posts
of the standard football fields and stadiums to fit the game? I haven't a clue as to batting so I was wondering, firstly if it was possible,
and of course second, whether anyone would be prepared to give it a try.
Just an idea to keep some of us Aussies happy :) Not that we need much help, just give us a cold beer and a decent footy match to watch.
Cheers
Dave
Yeah, we could use one of these.
Here's a link which will give a field layout.
http://www.answers.com/topic/comparison-of-rugby-league-and-rugby-union
(also provides a layout for Union as well and a comparison between the two sports).
We could also use a quality AFL/Cricket field... It's sorely missing from the game.
In true Blue Peter style, here's one I made earlier...
The posts are actually too wide, but I've been happy to use it in my cities. I've been meaning to make a set of narrower posts, but never got around to it...

Oh, please release this. I played rugby in college and afterwards, and stll love the game (though my knees don't love me). I have wanted a pitch in my cities since I started. Pretty Please..... ;)
Geoffhaw that is an awsome field... WoW..........

Nice stadium, but it looks Amricn if you ask me.
I wouldn't exactly call it a stadium! It's just a alternative to the 'soccer' field.
As for being American, I assume you mean the pitch markings? Well, you could say that, but they are the proper Rugby League markings. If you look closely, you will see by the scale of them they are at 10 metre intervals, not 10 yards. An 'American' football pitch (which has similar markings) is much smaller than this, and would easily fit inside a Rugby League, Rugby Union or Football pitch.
For those who are not familiar with 'rugby', it might be as well to point out that there is really no such thing as 'rugby'. There are two sports commonly called rugby, Rugby League and Rugby Union. They are similar, but have completely different rules, pitch markings, scoring system and number of players in a team. Same for 'football'. I can think of four different types of football off the top of my head. Association Football (sometimes called 'soccer'), 'American' Football, Australian Rules Football and Gaelic Football. All of these are completely different sports.
As for releasing this, as I said above, I'll try to BAT a narrower set of posts before I do so!
A second lot with the Maxis stands around it would be nice as well, and I doubt it'd take very long. If not, I can always do that manually. :)
Hi all, sorry I have been a bit remiss, I started this thread and then forgot all about it.
In my MD, pipishere provided me with a link to the following field.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg530.imageshack.us%2Fimg530%2F5476%2Fnewcastlemar30461185080nc5.jpg&hash=269d71dce3f9d451b3049d0a9a66e8926e7f9c1f)
It can be found here (http://www.lordowner.com/SimCity/BAT.html)
It is a union field while your version geoffhaw is certainly a league field ( a much better game :) )
I wish I new how to modify the ingame stadiums, but that is way beyond me a this stage.
geoffhaw will be interested to see if you can get those goalposts a bit narrower.
cammo2003 there is one reasonable cricket ground that I have found but it is only a small metro field and not a stadium. I am having trouble finding the link but will post here ASAP.
Hey Pat, of course it's an awesome field, it's an awesome game. No helmets, little padding, only 17 players (13 on field and 4 reserves) who have to last 80 mins of full body contact sport. (oh, and no time outs or costume malfunctions at half time :P)
I'm glad I've stirred up a bit of interest here. Thanks to all who have posted, and although I won't be much help with modding, it would be great to see
a few more Union and League lots in the game.
Cheers
Dave

I beg to differ $%Grinno$% Somehow I think this is an arguement neither of us would win, so I will leave it there, other than to say that I have had this field in my plugins from day 1. There is also Stad de France somewhere that someone did.
Guys try to keep on topic please. The discussion about rugby has been moved to the sports section of off-topic, click here to keep discussing (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=1962.0).
Fred
I have a rugby union stadium/cricket stadium in the pipeline and converting it to rugby league should take a matter of
minutes so im gonna do that
scotty222, there are quite a few people here who would like to see how that turns out. Looking forward to seeing a pic.
Wouldn't mind seeing the cricket stadium also.
Cheers
Dave
Oh please, please, PLEASE make more rugby stadiums!! ;D
I have SC4ified the textures included in the Stade de France release on ST and can send them to anyone who would like to use them. It's a 1024 x 640 image that creates 8 x 5 base textures in the game.
Anyway, let me know! It's rather large (1 MB) but I'll send it along if you like. ;D I've tried to make base textures from it but I failed horribly. :P
