Title: Disappearing trains - Why?
Post by: keithsed on July 24, 2007, 01:00:59 AM
Hi:

I've got a problem with my trains.  I've built an elevated rail system and when I use the transition pieces my trains disappear on the transition piece.  No big deal but it would certain look a lot better if they did not.

Here is an example of what I mean.

I've also included the pieces I've used to build my system.  Set number one (white) is found in the miscellaneous transportation menu.  I've mainly used this system.  I've tried to "drag" rail pieces over the transition piece but it doen't seem to help.

Set number two (yellow) is found in the train menu.

I've used various combinations of all four pieces to see if it would fix the problem, but no luck.

Like I said before, no big deal since it is just eye candy.

Thanks.

Keith

The reason your trains disappear is that el-rail and heavy rail are two completely different networks. El-rail automata can't appear on heavy rail and vice-versa. The heavy rail/el-rail transition lot converts train traffic to el-rail traffic and el-rail traffic to heavy rail. One could build a subway-bus conversion lot and end up with technically the same situation.

The second set you have shown (the rail menu one) is the puzzle piece that is used to build elevated heavy rail - which is a completely different thing than elevated (light) rail, though they may appear visually the same. The elevated heavy rail is just what the name implies - a heavy rail raised above ground. El-rail automata cannot use this network, but passenger and freight trains can.
