Title: Swamper's Service Station
Post by: Swamper77 on January 16, 2007, 07:50:06 PM
This thread is for support of my files that I have uploaded to the LEX. This first post will also contain a running list of the files I have uploaded with a brief description of the files.

Snow Plows: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=56 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=56)
A set of snow plows that appear on your roadways in your cities.

Snow Mod: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=57 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=57)
Released as part of the BSC 25 Days of Christmas, this is Volume 2 of my snow mod. Volume 1 can be found on the STEX.

Euro Fire Trucks: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=80 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=80)
An automata conversion of Ripptide's European fire truck that is in his prop pack of emergency vehicles. There are 3 colors (red, yellow, white) to choose from. , along with a readme for configuring your choices.

Euro Fire Truck Developer Files: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=81 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=81)
My working files from the creation of the Euro Fire Trucks download. There are two tutorials for customizing the graphics to your liking and getting them into the game.

EMT EMS Ambulances: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=82 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=82)
Another automata conversion of Ripptides models. This time, it's a pair of ambulances. They will appear around hospitals when installed. Replacement and Additionals in the file, along with a readme for configuring your choices.

American Emergency Vehicles: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=191 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=191)
More automata conversions of Ripptide's models. Several fire trucks, 2 rescue units, and a fire chief's car for adding to your fire department's choices of equipment. The fire chief's car is purposely designed without a light bar as I am staying true to Ripptide's original models. Replacement and Additionals in the file, along with a readme for configuring your choices.

Updated 12/18/2008: The fire chief's car no longer has its own icon. It uses the "Fire Support Vehicles" icon provided by my Automata Essentials File (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1626). The Rescue units are no longer dispatched to fire scenes or using fire hoses to put out fires. They are accessed through the "Fire Support Vehicles" icon as well. They are simply support units, not fire fighting units.

European Emergency Vehicles: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=554 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=554)
A small set of European emergency vehicles. The fire van is purposely designed as a standalone vehicle as it would look odd having a hose attached to it. Replacement and Additionals in the file, along with a readme for configuring your choices.

Updated 12/18/2008: Fire Van is no longer able to put out fires. It simply acts as fire commander's vehicle. It uses the "Fire Support Vehicles" icon provided by my Automata Essentials File (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1626).

Vandy Automata: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=586 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=586)
A collection of freight trucks made from Pegasus' GMAX models. A great addition to the boring set of Maxis freight trucks.

Sprinter Vans: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=591 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=591)
A set of civilian vehicles based off the Sprinter vans from the European Emergency Vehicles pack. 7 colors total for your Sims to drive around in.

Regional Runner Set: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=970 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=970)
A German train set made from the GMAX models that Kenworth of the SFBT provided. This train set will replace your passenger trains with the Regional Runner set. A freight engine model included as well. Complete readme explains how the files are configured.

Updated 3/24/2009: The Regional Runner files have been updated to resolve the issue of "twisted" train cars.

Jestarr's Train Set: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1572 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1572)
A collection of freight train cars and 2 locomotives to add to your game. The automata are all additionals, so they will not replace anything. Various train cars with various cargoes, including intermodal container cars.

Updated 3/14/2009: The empty flatcar now displays random cargo on it. Files have been updated to include this feature. Couplers have been adjusted on all the train cars so they are all at 0.8 meters to match up with Maxis and other custom train cars.

Glenni's Car Pack: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1578 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1578)
A set of civilian vehicles created from models that Glenni sent me. Various cars and SC4's first RV automata.

Automata Essentials File: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1626 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1626)
A small file that contains commonly used graphics and some LUA scripts for my vehicles. Required by most of my current automata and for future releases. Updated: 05/02/2009!

Fire Support Vehicles: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1673 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1673)
A Jeep Cherokee and Crown Victoria with functional light bars. Complete readme details the file configurations.

Updated 12/18/2008: The Jeep Cherokee no longer has it's own icon. It uses the "Fire Support Vehicles" icon provided by my Automata Essentials File (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1626).

Seattle Emergency Vehicles: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1899 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1899)
This set of emergency vehicles will replace the Maxis defaults with their Seattle counterparts. There is also a stand alone Seattle Police Car prop file for Lot Makers if they want to use it. Complete installation instructions in the Readme file as usual.

Raised Rail Conversions: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1962 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1962)
This is a set of Lots that I converted at ToxicPiano's request. There is a set of 4 Lots that I converted from Deadwoods' Under Rail Shops (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1961) and a Transit Hub for Deadwoods' Raised Parks set. These do not replace any existing Lots. They can be found in the Rail Menu.

Updated 2/6/09: The Raised Rail Conversions on the LEX have been updated to resolve a prop conflict with JBSimio's schools. Please re-download to avoid seeing the NAM's Raised Rail viaducts at his schools. This was my fault because I never recorded the Instance ID of the school bus prop exemplar I made for him &ops

SW77 Logging Equipment: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2067 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2067)
This is a set of logging industry related vehicles for transporting logs. All of the vehicles are additionals and some mods are included which use the Road Transferable Locomotive (RTL) model. Complete details are in the Readme file.

I will update the list as I add files to the LEX or update them. If there are any questions or comments about the files, they should be made here in this thread.

Post moved from my Garage thread as it is a support question. - Swamper

hello Jan

i downloaded and installed the AutomataEssentials and both the FireTrucks as the SupportUnits. as the readmes told i shouldnt install the FireChiefUnit.dat when installing the Replace one from the support unit.

the firetrucks show up in game perfectly fine, but  when i dispatch them to somewhere in town, they just drive to that place as if they were normal trucks, no emergency lights or nothing. i plopped a small one, as well as the large one. also, all the trucks were greyed out in the UDI missions tab, as well as the chiefs car. i did not install any other vehicle mods.

what i noticed to was that no SemiTrucks had a trailer.

when i removed the Essentails and the other mods out of the plugins folder, everything worked, the FireEngines did move with Sirens and such, and the Semi's had their trucks back

i can give you a full list of mods i have installed, but i dont think it would be of any use, since most of it is prop related.

regards

Meastro,

That is odd that the vehicles are behaving like that. Where do you have the Automata Essentials installed at in your Plugins?

I have mine in the Root of the MyDocs Plugins and the vehicles are installed to a subfolder in the MyDocs Plugins. I guess I may have to provide specific installation instructions.

I will look into it and see what is going on with the LUA files that are in my Automata Essentials file. I may have broken something, at least from the game's point of view. It seems to be really picky about the LUA scripts that are running.

I've updated my Automata Essentials file as it was causing problems when the Jeep Cherokee fire support vehicle was installed. Please re-download the Automata Essentials file and see if your problems disappear. Report back here if that doesn't help.

I've also updated the list of files in the first post of this thread.

Hello swamper !!! sure fan of yours , I'm presently working on your Vandy automata trucks, great addition to the game, I'm resizing them to look more appropriate and to fit better whit all the new vehicles props available on lex and stex, so I'm asking you permission to rework your trucks please, I want to take the sleep cab off thoses petterbilt trucks and i did it , i also put a big bubble wind deflector on top of the sleep cab so they re looking more like big american rigs, and of corse enhance them whit color stripes , seems to me that they were a bit , ghostly .
annyway ( I wont upload them whitout your permission )that's the reason why  I'm asking you first if possible, i also replace the flat noses tractors (europeen skin like) whit the no sleep cab tractors more North American , I'm planning to reinsert those one whit cabover Freightliners , Kenworths. I also reduce the wheel base lenght of the ones that i took the sleep cab off, they sure fit and look great .
I'm also reworking the trailers, made 53 feet , took off the flat bed and replaced it
whit a low bed (SRAINY) Excavator.Fits great whit A Yellow simple cab Petterbilt.
I sure knows how to modify the models and reinsert them into your plugins, but I dont know to Dupplicate them and make a new instances, so I cannot see yours and mine in the gameat the same time could you please help me?. I dont mind working in association whit you if you like, theses truck could surely be a great (UPDATE) like New American trucks series volume -1 ,who knows? it depends on you if you please
i'm 48 years hold I USE TO HAVE A BODY SHOP, But now i'm sick and cannot work
(Arthritis) I'm spending almost all of my time to the game ( SimFanatic)so please answer me .I sure would like to see my trucks on the Exchange

Hi Swamper,
I downloaded your Regional Runner set (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=970), it's really great. But... I have a problem with it. After a rail curve the last train car gets stuck in its pre-curve direction and start jumping. After several tiles it jumps back to its normal state. How great the train as much I hate to see its behavior. And I don't know why it happens. Could you solve this problem please, or help me to solve it for myself?
Up to now I used a very old orange TGV by oppie and now I'm using this ICE (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=17723). None of them has this strange behavior. But I would like to use the ICE for HSRP train mod, and I really miss the Regional Runner.
Thanks in advance

This seems to be a bug in the game which affects only very long rail cars. The problem occurs whenever a train passes a tight Maxis rail curve, but when using the Wide Radius Curves from the NAM, it won't happen. Since those are far more realistic anyway, I suggest trying to use those wherever it's possible. :)

I swear I fixed that problem for Royal's Regional Runner set, which is the one I uploaded. I guess I will have to shorten the cars again....

I made some further testing. It looks that the train sometimes turns correctly at left curves, while always stuck in right curves. Maybe the problem somehow related to the track length, as left curves are always longer and allows smoother turning (at least for right hand driving scheme). Furthermore the problem can occur with NAM wide curves too. I also have Marrast diagonal station. When train starts from the diagonal track the last car gets stuck in the correct diagonal direction and starts jumping.
I may try to edit the set with ilive's reader to find a working car length. But for me it would be very time consuming to hand edit several hundred z coordinate. I wouldn't be surprised if it was turned out that the max allowed length is tile_size*sqrt2, which is exactly 22.62 meters, or something close to that.

I'll take a look at them this weekend and shorten them to 20 meters (coupler tip to coupler tip) They will lose 4 meters of their total length, but this should fix the errors.

Thanks in advance.
I tried to export the model into 3ds, edit and import it back, but I failed. My attempt to solve the problem messed up the groups and textures. I should spent much more time than 2 hours to figure out how to use the reader and learn modding. I'm very beginner.

Thank you Jan
At the weekend I spent another 2 hours on fixing the problem myself. I managed to make a working 22.5 and a 21 meters long version. I'm testing them now, and the 21 meters long version is still twist in some curves, but jumps back in 1 tile. I think your 20m long train cars will work correctly. Tomorrow I will reply the test results.

Cpast,

You won't be able to reskin the car props as they are BAT models, not automata models.

Looks like the UV map is messed up a bit for the door logo. Is it doing this only on the left side or both sides of the car?

-Jan
Title: Re: Swamper's Service Station

Both sides.
EDIT: Never mind the props. I deleted the prop exemplars and the reskin shows as props now.

Cpast,

I can't figure out why the door badges are behaving that way on your computer. It appears that the polygons for them got rearranged somehow. The diagonal line of the badges should be the opposite way that yours shows. Did you alter the model in any way other than replacing the texture?

Cpast,

I downloaded what I had uploaded to the LEX. It's not producing the problem that you are having. I can't reproduce the problem on my end. That type of problem only comes from altering the UV map for the door logos. My files were not uploaded with that problem. I don't know what to tell you.

Title: Re: Swamper's Service Station
Post by: Swamper77 on April 13, 2009, 08:20:51 PM
Cpast,

Nerdly is suggesting that you start from scratch in creating your reskin of my Seattle police car. It looks like the program that you used to make the FSH image of the door logo damaged your FSH image. Try creating the FSH file again. The Group ID of the images used on the model should be 1ABE787D and no bigger than 256x256. Anything bigger, and you will get a colored patch like you showed if you are running SC4 in Software Rendering mode.

-Jan
Title: Re: Swamper's Service Station
Post by: cpast on April 14, 2009, 03:52:42 AM
What is a group ID? Also, the size is 111x109, and SC4 is in Hardware Rendering. Finally, could you see if there is a problem with the FSH if I attach it?
Title: Re: Swamper's Service Station
Post by: Swamper77 on April 14, 2009, 12:08:01 PM
The Group ID is the second set of 8 numbers in an address of a game file (ie xxxxxxxx 1ABE787D xxxxxxxx).

Images for the game have to be square or rectangular and each side of the image has to be a multiple of 16 (ie 128x256, 128x128, 16x256). That is probably why your image got messed up and shows as a colored patch. A 111x109 image will not work in SC4.
