Title: T-Wrecks Diagonal fillers placing problem
Post by: sandokan on August 31, 2007, 07:39:27 AM
Hello everybody. I am having a bit of trouble when placing the diagonal fillers made by T-Wrecks (available in SimForum) and used in Nardo69's MD "Urland" (here: http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=793.60 ). According to the ReadMe you are supposed to see some props on the hovering blue square icon with the arrow (before placing the lot), which should significantly help you to place the lot correctly (and this is important because we are talking about a diagonally looking lot)
The problem is that I cannot see any props on the hovering icon. However, I'm still able to see the lot correctly once it is definitely placed (after the click) but it takes me a lot of trial and error to get it well done.

I already have every dependency installed, so the problem might be something else.

If someone knows anything useful about it, I'll be very glad

Hello Sandokan,

RippleJet kindly drew my attention to this thread, and I just read your post. Could it be that you don't have the latest version of the SFBT Essentials? We update them from time to time, just like the BSC Team does with their Essentials. Have you checked the date of your files? Please take a look and let me know if I was able to help you. If not, we'll have to find something else.  ;)

Hi T-Wrecks! You got it! It worked instantly!! Incredible how quickly you realised the correct fix to the problem... Very  intelligent. But it doesn't surprise me after watching and using your diagonal fillers. They are simply marvelous. I went crazy placing that lots all around every farm I had. They look awesome now. And I placed nearly 500 of your random wood fillers in a single mid size city (well, it's a farm-based one  ;) ). They blend so well with everything...

Congratulations on this new achievement you made

And, as I said before somewhere in this forum, thanks "a LOT"  ;)

SANDOKAN

PD: I'm not used to upload pics, but if I learn how to do that, I'll post one or two  with your excellent lots in action...!!!

@sandokan,

About uploading pics: look here (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=1777.msg52260#msg52260)
Maybe it will help  ;)

Hola Sandokan,

me alegra mucho leer que he podido auyadarte.

First of all - Thanks everyone for the help. I really appreciate it and I learnt a couple of things

Ennedi - I am installing now the ImageShack toolbar, it seems very useful and easy to work with. Thanks for your directions

T-Wrecks - Jamas imaginé que hablases español, una agradable sorpresa ver tu post en mi mismo idioma. Muchas gracias por tu atención. Cada vez me siento mas cómodo en este sitio con tanta gente llena de buena predisposición.

And now I'm going to play a bit with the farms and then I'll be able to post one or two pics..  ;)

Let's see if it's working... I'll try to post some pics from a farming town showing the diagonal farm fillers from T-Wrecks.

I've really placed many of them. Before getting these lots, my farms looked like this:

or this:

But now, take a look...

There I used the wood fillers included in the pack for various purposes, and the resulting kind of forest is the one I liked the best among every other types of forests available. It's well mixed and balanced.

The only problem, but I think it's still unavoidable, is that when you plop any of these lots beside a dirt street (if you have the dirty streets mod) the street becomes paved... and it doesnt look very well... because the game paves the adjacent street tile and leaves the rest of the street dirty. It's a bit annoying, but i's better than the "saw" effect, no doubts!

And in another post (link: http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=2220.0), I've asked for directions to find some dirt fillers. And then I found the ones made by Dhamp. And they helped me in this situation:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg369.imageshack.us%2Fimg369%2F4168%2Fsfillersjw0.jpg&hash=ad2517d56d9e0ba7bf0ea8ef87deddb2246c67d8)

It can't be fixed with the diagonal fillers from T-Wrecks (which are still awesome, but for another purpose). So I tried with one of the puzzle pieces from Dhamp's set (there are 6 or 8 pieces, mixing dirt and grass, and this grass matches the one of T-Wrecks fillers!!). And I got this:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg66.imageshack.us%2Fimg66%2F2606%2Fpostdhampfillersui5.jpg&hash=c840d8c75691635e410fb66300e093ee77472697)

And there are my first uploaded pics ever. (That's why I had to edit the post several times in order to get it working properly  :P)
Thanks to this community, my whole perspective of SC4 is completely changed, and this change is a very good one.
I hope you enjoyed the pics... ;)

Adam, they already are available. Look here (http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=562), if you don't mind reading in German.  :P

Actually, the diagonal fillers are bilingual (English/German) - the only reason why I didn't upload them to the LEX is that Cycledogg's prop pack is still missing there. I heard that it's going to be uploaded soon, so I can upload the fillers to the LEX finally as well. :)

Are the ones at that site in English as well?  I have just downloaded them.  If not, when we get the english set available, will there be any issues with just replacing them?

They are bilingual (English and German) in such a way, that the language is seleceted correctly according to the language of your installed version of SC4.
If you're running a German version of the game, the German texts will display. Otherwise, the English texts are used.
So, you can safely download and install the one from Germany!

If you're interested in how this was accomplished, read about the Translations (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=1780.0) and the tutorial LTEXT - How to make multilingual buildings and queries (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=532.0).

The biggest translation effort so far has been Cogeo's Roadtop Mass Transit V3.50 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1057), which includes no less than 15 languages.

Those are very useful lots indeed.  I can't wait until there are uploaded to the LEX.
