Title: Red+white=Blue?
Post by: Jmouse on September 12, 2007, 12:37:10 PM

What gives with the patchwork sidewalks? I'm using the JRJ Street side MOD and Farm street CP Seasonal v1. Actually, I prefer the white stone sidewalks, but don't know how to get rid of the red brick spots.
It's enough to make anybody a bit blue!

Thanks in advance...
Joan

I dont believe you can Jmouse.  The Red bricks are part of the mod and are for High Wealth Lots.  The Lots are what control what sidewalk texture is used in front of it.  If you changed the red sidewalk texture to the white one it would work..  But at the moment I dont know how to do that one.

Well, it would require some work with the Reader. If you'd take the white textures, copy them and give them the ID of the red textures, all sidewalk tiles would have the same texture. I guess it's even easier to remove the wealth-dependent IDs, but I don't know enough about textures in order to explain how this can be done.

After removing my finger from the panic button, I used it to remove recently-installed mods and the problem turned out to be the JRJ street side mod. Now the R$$$ tiles are a very faint pink but don't clash with the other sidewalks. I really liked that MOD, but the harsh contrast doesn't work for me.
Many thanks to all of you for trying to help. One of these days, maybe I'll learn more about the complicated stuff like altering textures, but that day is yet to come.

Thanks again...
Joan

If you look through installation instructions a bit more carefully, you'll find out that those textures are optional. I use JRJ's street side mod and have the normal Maxis textures. There's also a separate version of the texture mod on the LEX.

Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, MIncrobal. I checked back and found I had apparently followed instructions in the README to the best of my knowledge at the time. I had, however, forgotten about the optional texture file which I have now removed and all is well. It's just that I've read a few hundred other READMEs and slept twice since downloading the MOD file in May. :)

Until next time...
