Title: Turning on the gas(cooker)
Post by: Ramona Brie on September 12, 2007, 06:23:28 PM
I have tons of Gascooker lots. I LOVE European buildings and modern, clean American ones. But I was hitting a dead end with 2 GC lots I downloaded a long time ago: B&Q and Tesco. I had gotten his Ikea (one of THE most popular LEX lots to date) to grow before.

Accordingly, I built West Central (a part of Camelot, my big 25-tile project) with Houston and Euro tilesets only. I saved at 263 people because I found a B&Q sitting on the main commercial street. When the city grew a bit bigger, I found a second B&Q and a Tesco. Now if the SG Professional Center can (finally) grow for me...I'll be in business.

Camelot is the first ever region where I have more jobs than people, even without the 100,000 industrial jobs. West Central has double the amount of jobs than residents, which is the reason Camelot is such a commercial giant (most of the region's commerce happens in Camelot, predominantly in its 800,000-strong downtown, my largest city tile to date). Downtown and WC are linked by Camelot Transit subway, which is probably how all the downtowners commute into West Central for jobs. (Reverse of RL, but this is SIMCity, not REAL-LIFECity.)

Have you ever had lots you downloaded never grow for a long time?

I got quite a few Tesco's, but I have yet to see a B&Q in any of my cities, although I have them in my plugins folder since a long time. Maybe there's another lot with a similar capacity that is picked in favor all the time - in any case, the phenomenon is very well-known to me.

Keep zoning Euro 4x4. Somebody should mod and rerelease the B&Q to grow more often. I'm sure you could do it, Andreas, what with SC4Tool and all.

I'd like the NDEX midrise apartments to be modded to grow more often....

Since the issue of what grows "too much" or "too little" is a personal taste issue, there will not likely be a solution put forth. If you are a person who is very particular about the buildings you wish to grow, you will have to become adept at using the tools at hand. I think there is even a thread specifically aimed at controlling buildings in cities. You might look here to start, but I'm sure there are other links
