But I have a question for you. How do the cars at the back get out of the parking bay? Surely they would drive in and reverse out yes? then wouldn't the front of the cars point the other way? just an observation and my pickiness ::)

Here's mine:
This is actually 6 or 7 custom lots that I modified to create a waterfront baseball stadium/park complex.
Stadium is Arbordale Stadium by scba, and the waterfront lots are Peg's awesome set of original OWW lots. All customized of coarse ;D

Tj the only thing i would suggest is that on your parking lot is to add corners and straight peices to make it flow more like a parking lot... Just a thought though

As you can see the avenuea, plaza, homes, stadium, gas station, school, etc i've made those lots, and some are BATs exclusive for my MD...
I have many many more custom lots an my MD Canatlán, this MD is 90% lots made by me

here are some lots i have edited for myself. thanks to everyone who have created some great props.  comments or suggestions are always welcome.

in this first pic i edited an old japanese waterfront lot to create a port for some passengers and freight. i created the large warehouse lot on the left (trailers appear and disappear so there arent many showing at this time) and made pegs barges into 'floating' lots. another small thing i did was remove the wake effect from the japanese ship on the left.

in this pic, i created a bunch of warehouse lots and containers stacks. in the bottom right, i created an entrance to the main shipping container docks for trucks to pass through. i saw this type of building on google earth and tried to recreate it, i dont know what its use is in real life though. the warehouse in the 1st pic without trailers is also here in the bottom left but with more trailers showing, the roof is different cause the building is a prop family. another version is the orange warehouse at top center.

They're in Gascooker's mega pack vol 01 if I remember correctly.

I've been working on updating some older lots by Frogface, which usually have very nice models, but the lotting leaves some room for improvements. So here's one "before - after" shot of the Sacre Coeur basilica. :)

nice work andreas. i like the busses and i like the trees a lot.

tag_one, sorry i didnt get back to you, i didnt check this thread till now. also, try using the the container prop family (0xb5c00034) which creates nice randomness each time the lot is plopped.

here are some suggestions for you if you like to think about
i would change the pk_trees on the green fields becouse they already come with a round plantbase what you dont need on that green field
the pk_chaine next to the avenue looks good but i would delete the ones in the pedmall so then delivery cars and small trucks can drive to the shops ;)
and one very important thing: you need alot of people on that plaza to let it look more living
the market props come very well and i think you could make the market some bigger if you like
so all in all you did a great job an i hope to see more from you :thumbsup:

Hey Jayo lovely lots there but a question wouldnt it be hard for them cars to get out as they are parked
sideways and there is a wall there as well lol???

i don't think so  ;D This house is just outside my school and the cars are actually parked like that  :D And because they're all owned by the same person-They can just move the cars themselfs   "$Deal"$

Hey, do you guys know how to search which plugins are used in a certain lot? Cause there is NO way that I can remember all the plugins I used in that factory . . .

Buildings are props by Debussyman, the lot is large and everything was LE'ed including the court gardens, which I like alot :)

well ive been away from the game for a while now but as always, im back for more....and once again the LE has taken my time up more than the game.

the 1st couple of shots are 3 sepearate lots (going by length) using warehouses made by jestarr along with a lot of other excellent stuff he has made, and others of course!
ive added nightlights to them, as well as my 1st warehouse lots posted on the 1st page of this thread, but im not sure how i like them. there are so many for such a small amount of light.

the 2nd lot i made is huge. something like 21x15 or so and ive used el burros awesome power plant building. again, i wanted the lot to be lit up at night and the best lights i found were the small highway tower lights, but i would need to add 2 more sets of lights to light up the container rows properly, which means moving all those containers over, so im waiting to decide, i may just delete the ones i have.  any suggestions for lighting?? maybe adding some cones to the container cranes showing how they might be lit up at night? im stuck...

Having made a  new upgradeable port for the next X-Ports update I needed some extra lots as I used marrast's embankments for the port. The gaps in the wall are due to my sloppy terraforming ::)

I'm not sure if I'm in the right thread, so I would like to be directed to the right one if this one is not.  Here is something that I came up with recently:

This is a metal power pole that I BATted recently.  It is based on the high-tension poles in the Dallas, Texas area.  I elected to omit the wires since they would complicate the placement of the poles on sloped areas.  I must also mention that this is my first ever BAT or lot, so I'm sure the quality will not be anything too special.  The pole is a prop, placed on a 1x1 lot with a Maxis texture, with properties based on those of the Maxis grass lot park.  I have maintained a three tile clearance zone where no trees are allowed to grow, since trees can pose a fire hazard when they grow underneath high-tension wires.

I like those towers; definitely something you'd see in some rural areas.

That is one splendid park, Dan.   :)  Thank you for your compliment about the poles.  I did go ahead and make a wired version.  The wires overhang off one side of the pole prop, which is an overhanging prop anyway.  The lot is still 1x1.

Ah, good old suburbs. I an attempt to BAT my first growable, which was a house, I had come up with that a 3 car garage, can fit on a 2 tile lot, after being inspired by fellow Devotion members suburban designs. Don't know if the 3 car garage was tried before, but it didn't seem like there was so much suburban houses in this game. The car is off center, because it never pulls into the garage, and wants to not steer so much as possible, but a car can fit through each door, side by side, with room to walk between. However, I never have done this before, and I'm afraid to know how much dependencies I put into this. This was a challenge for me, I had to really get familiar with BAT in one day, because I had to learn how to make a roof, and do irreuglar shapes, not to mention what type of textures I could find to make the front lawn.

There is a family room behind the garage, and the chiminey is in the corner of the room. Now though, I have noticed they are starting to make fireplaces with out needing a chimney in new developements.

Something we don't have in the US is privately-maintained gas stations and rest stops that have their own access ramp on our Interstate highways - in Spain I've seen ones like those. In the US all we have are VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation)-maintained rest stops that provide a restroom, a small park to stretch your legs from hours of driving, and a few vending machines - no gas and not a great meal.

I also note that you have borrowed a MIS texture for lot-editor use... that's something I could definitely use.

@nerdly_dood What you just said about franchised gas stations that are only highway bound not on US interstates is not the case in my state. Granted they wouldn't look like this flat, they are ususally elevated, and the building hangs over the highway, and may have a McDonalds, or somethng, but usually there is gas stations on each side of the interstate, then just one.
@Youcefk69 Highway Oasis's are very important. Its great to see you take care of that, and with the MIS. First off, I have never seen those gas station props anywhere, do you know where you aqquired them? I think you have done a good job so far, if I were you I would have put in a few zebra-crossings around the market stalls, and maybe som people props as well to make it a bit more alive  ;)

I would suggest, since everything seems to fit neatly on the grid squares, that you consider breaking this into three smaller lots, as it would allow more felxibility of the pieces and still allow the same look (unless there is a reason to keep them together that I have not noticed). Aside from that, perhaps place some people around those tables.

So many talented lotters but so few who start a LEX candidacy. Why? It is a shame that so much talent is going to waste so come on, guys and gals, get a candidacy thread opened up.

Something that goes for me personally, is that it seems that lots that I create for personal usage, always seem to look better then when I create something meant for release. Possibly, this happens because I use my complete plugins-folder when I lot for personal use, instead of my "Plugins LE" folder, that I use for lots I intend to be released someday. Even so, it can be very though to mod a lot after the actual lotting (and also TE'ing), and this also keeps me away from even attempting to scrutinize my relot of the Warsaw Station by Feroxx (which I find to be my best lotting so far).

I feel the same way as Casper... the lots that I make I make for my own usage and many times they're for one specific purpose.  Also, I make my lots to look as best they can... they've got tons of dependencies, and that seems to be away from what many people want in a released lot.

It seems like I caught all of these pics when the crape myrtles were blooming and not the azaleas or hydrangeas... these areas showed spots of color during this part of the year, but they were vibrant with color when the other plants were blooming!

Unfortunately, these files were lost in an hd crash in my barely-over-a-year computer.  Some of them (in theory) still exist on my old computer... but I can't seem to get that one to turn on, so this may be all that's left to show!

I used the old BSC trail lots as my base in many of these and expanded off of them, and for a few, I slightly modified the "city beautification" lots (this is a great set IMO!) to fit more in a park setting, plus I created some 1x1, 1x2, 2x2, and 2x3 lots that I was able to repeat over and over and create the right looks.


What stinks most about losing those lots (and the cities they were in) is that these weren't the final pics... I'd changed some things up and made everything "flow" better...  Oh well, I've still got the ideas in my head, and I've been itching to get back lately.  I've been working on rebuilding my plugins for months and if I can find the time to sort through them all and play (... and post pics...) then I might just have to start a new MD.

It's only a ploppable right now, and it needs a ton of work on the modding end. I'm not sure what to do with it... maybe SimGoober's tutorial, but then I would have to reference the MPR Metals model, and I'm not exactly sure how to do that... :'(

EDIT: I'm just a tad lazy when it comes to these things and I'm never sure exactly what to do...

sim-al2: it doesn't take long, if you use IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.com/). It can be done in 10 seconds.
The program is free. I use it along side other graphical programs.

I did... ;) Paint seems to work differently on different computers, because when I converted it on the other one, it looked really bad. May have to do with the graphics card though...

T1: Problem is, I sorta used Tooheys's storage center building to get it to have jobs... the model is hidden by the Maxis building LODs...  can you fix that? If you can, I send off as soon as I can.

No problem, I'll fix it :) I can't wait to turn this beauty into a growable  ;)

I'll tell you where LEO. I have to say before I tell you where I got those light towers, it is funny you mention Chozo's, I don't think I ever found the ones you are describing, since that was the first time I have heard the makers name of the high mast lights, anyway someone is exemplar21ing Chozo's lights for the new RHW-6.

Now, as for the light towers in my picture, I got them from their creator, screen-named Interstate80 on this site, who had a bunch of new street lights in development thread, which is where I got those light towers, in addition to the Great American Street Light mod. However that has gone a miss as the stupid ID system gave a bunch of the streetlights the same ID's as existing Maxis buildings. I don't know if those light towers had that problem too. The problem was you got the mod, but some the replacement street lights would replace certain lots full buildings with a streetlight. It looked weird. So try looking up Interstate80, and see if you can find them that way, as I don't recall those lights going on an exchange since that was not mentioned during development.

He made them himself. Unfortunately, they are probably not TE'd, so you won't be able to drive on them.

You could use it as an highway like the 8 or 10 lane highway like the one in the RHW.

Something I came across...I was lotting (i'm no good at it, as you will see &mmm) But I think this would be a great thing to use for farms. You know how farms by train tracks send freight their, without stations sometimes? i made a growable farm lot with TE'd RR. That way IMHO, it's more realistic. Maybe not for smll farms, but for loading centers and elevators. I'd love to see someone make nice lots with this technology...

I like the rail shops... but IMO it would look more realistic if the buildings were rotated 90 degrees.  It seems like they could have easily added on buildings left and right of the 4 car deep rail shop buildings... but the way they're set up in the pic, any expansion would have to be made on the back end... adding one length of the car... but necessitating an entire wall to be knocked down every time.

Here's a picture of my favorite railroad, the long-defunct Chicago Aurora and Elgin, which had its shops in Wheaton, IL.  This shot is from 1938:

The building was deeper than it was wide, yes, but the features of the building ran parallel rather than orthogonal to the rail lines that ran into the shop.

You can see here that the peak of the roof is in line with the track rather than perpendicular to it.

I think this is more realistic... here's one of the Chicago Transit Authority shops:

I think this really shows the situation of most shops... they've got limited space, so they essentially build buildings parallel to the tracks... think of it like covering a portion of the track.

So, in your picture, it would seem logical that expansion could continue towards the bottom of the picture with those tracks being "covered" by the building... with the peak of the roof parallel to the tracks.


I hope that makes sense....  I REALLY like the look of that... just think it should be rotated 90 degrees!

Yeah, presently I only have the 45 and 90 aves done , but they are pathed (not perfect , but they work) and plan on doing the road curves. I think it is a good alternative for MD's and such , but not necessarily for the average player.It also gives much more flexibility over my T-21 mods and gives more options.

Sometimes you really really need the LE because even though your plugin folder is exploding and the park'n'plaza menu is almost impossibe to handle even with the mouse wheel - nothing fits n a special situation. Like here where I needed a halfway representative plaza in front of the station:

it was also a res plop before, so i changed it into a cs$$ plop with about 6000 jobs.  hopefully this

Nice job on that lot! The only thing I don't like is the swimming pool, I think it looks out of place.

thanks io_bg. i actually thought that too but it was the biggest pool i could find.  i tried a few other pools but they looked really small
when compared to the building and i thought i would have to add a few of them to realistically supply that many residents. 
maybe i should not have a pool at all?  any thoughts on this?

This is an experiment with translucent props.  It's still very crude and pixilated, but I thought people might be interested.  The dome lot is the light colored tile in the centre.

It is made to fit on a mesa shift-clicked in god mode.

I have not tried it yet but I intend to make is so it cleans the air inside the dome.

Note: this is not SimMars, and I hope that this does not duplicate SimMars content.

This square, by contrast, is based on my recollection of Russell Square in London, with its open grassy areas and dirt paths crossing it. Both squares have a good number of CP's seasonal trees, which are my favorite custom trees by far. I'm thinking about putting a couple more together and releasing them all as a set; would any of you be interested in that possibility? (Note: There are people props on both lots, but it was the wrong in-game time for them to be visible when I took the pictures.)

Unfortunately, there is some kind of a bug with the overlay textures next to the tree which is left from the garden. The grass should be above the white pavement, does anyone have ideas how to solve it?

Looking good, having the shops around it (ie seeing it in context) helps a lot. It no longer looks big, just a natural use of space. I think adding the road helped. Maybe a few less stalls...?

I'm preparing to launch a MD. Part of the inaugral post will be an official visit by the President of United Nation of Sim. Anyone know the easiest way to make timed props (stage, vehicles, people, etc) static and always visible? I sat around waiting for as much to appear as possible before taking this picture, but still half the vehicles and people are missing.

Well, I know that the NWM is still a long way to go, so I made a series of textures and made a number of lots I called "Super Wide Avenue Project" with them. Here is how it looks in my city:

Having seaports made by BSC team or Pegasus or Somy e.t.c., the Maxis seaport is now useless and hateful. But now the Maxis seaport is alive and kicking, as a functional spaceport :thumbsup:
