Title: Macbook Pro and Sim City 4 + Rushhour.
Post by: baconrocky on November 15, 2007, 01:52:19 PM
Hello my fellow SC4 Devotees,
Recently my PC crashed, resulting of the loss of my game [tears go here], on the bright side I do have this Macbook Pro sitting in my house that I recently acquired for school. Suprisingly I do need Simcity for school, for this upcoming project. Now, some research on Simtropolis tells me that I am extremely limited in the amount of downloads I can actually have in my game if I converted to my Apple. I am willing to buy the Mac version of the game if its worth it. This is where I need your help, Is it worth it? How many downloads will not actually work on my Macbook?

  Thanks!

Better still, run Bootcamp, partition part of the drive for Windows XP and if you have an standalone install of XP SP2 install that.  This will mean all of your PC software is completely usable on your Mac, as when you boot into Windows, it IS to all intents and purposes, a PC.  No degradation in any way, shape or form.  I use mine running XP for 3dsmax work (proper commercial work) which just goes to show it's a beastie of a machine.

Another alternative:

install Linux using reFIT as boot-manager, there Cedega and the Windows version of Sim City. The windows version under cedega runs much faster than under windows and is also the cheapest (legal) solution.
