Ok, so i decided to make my own automata model.
and i already got the texture, model etc.. but now what?ยจ ( this is in 3ds btw)

This was done by detaching each face and then UVW mapping it, but from what i heard, you can't do so.
And that UVW unwrap thing is just confusing to me, i don't understand anything in it...
wow! so am I getting you right - all the texturing you were doing before (on that water treatment facility) was done without UWV unwrapping??
You don't need to detach anything. UVW Unwrap allows you to select a specific part of your texture, instead of the whole one. That is you can move UV maps (vertices) as you like, ie set the desired UV coordinates for each vertex separately.
