Hello, im a big Sim City fan, and i just started looking for plugins, regions, ect, but i really need help. The exchange here, and in the many other fan sites contain alot of downloads of many kinds, both old and new, and ive been a big fan for a loooong time, sence the game came out, bought it and played it, it amazes me, but ever sence i found out about all this new plugins and stuff, im going crazy trying to update my game. Bad thing is, there are THOUSANDS of files, and im only one guy, and i have NO IDEA which files to look up for lmfao. :-[ so im here asking for help from everyone. I need the basic downloads, such as the ones mainly used by everyone, im not completly new, so i know some mods like the seasonal trees, canals, walls, but yet, i have no idea what i need to download them, and were, sence there are so many. If you can give me the link to the basic downloads, that would help alot. Im a big fan of european buildings and cities, so if you can give me some links of some buildings, that would help also. Any tips, and information would help to. &cry2 I know its alot to ask for, but it would really help a noob like me, and might help many others if they make a special topic just to give out the noobs the basic links as well. &ops Lol, its alot to ask for, so im extreamly sorry, but if you can help, ill really appriciate it. :D thank you :D
I think you will want European Road Textures (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1302) and the Network Addon Mod (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=851) which together make about the best transport system on earth. Make sure you get the N.A.M. installed BEFORE the european roads.
Thank you so much. I have always used the one way roads because of the white line. The yellow line kills the European look. Thank you so much.
gascooker does some wonderful UK buildings ( found here on the LEX - hope you registered for it while you were here.) Also look at Dolphin66 (D66), Ill Tonkso, NDEX. Theres so many. All can be found here on the LEX with thier older stuff (If you don't want to use the CAM - found only here at the LEX ) on Simtropolis's STEX. Also look at PEG's stuff if you like Seaports and/ or rural areas ( www.simpeg.com ). The BSC's farming lots ( made by D66, BSC, members , J Meyers etc are fantastic and in my mind absolutely essential- Its a bit hard to tell you what is essential tho as everyone has different ideas. Also not everyone likes dependency files and the BSC quality often needs dependencies. But hope that gets you off to a good start. Also european - Marcszar, Jenx, xannepan. Jestarr is a must for industrial buildings.
Thank you, ill try to check them out. Do you know why cant they just get all the dependencies and put them in one folder?
Any creation from one particular person is copyrighted on the net so you can only link to their creations not include them with yours. Also not everyone will want all lots associated with a mega dependency pack so they tend to keep them seperate. I find BSC lots worth all the extra dependencies and time spent downloading them. Have fun with the game and happy new year. ;D
Lol ok :D thank you. But yes, i did mean the link to their creation lol. Anyways, still though... one folder packed with all the dependency's would really help lower down serch time and messing around.
Theres a dependency list on this site with links to all the dependencies. Diggis made it. Its at the bottom of the home page. "Looking for a dependency?" Just click on it and it takes you to it.
wellp, now i have problems on the downloading thingy... i already downloaded a pack 5 times because i had to keep reinstalling it, each time for a diffrent reason, the last wich was 5th was because i was re-organizing so i had to delete them all. =/ What do i do?
I'm thinking that it's due to bandwidth issues, rules are in place to prevent excessive repetitive downloads. Five per file seems to be a more than reasonable amount, giving you room for internet interupts, hard drive failures, and the accidental cancelation every now and then. But at some point, you really have to commit to your downloads, and save them to hard drive, and even back them up, so that should something else happen, you don't have to go searching for them again.
I always Save every download to my desktop, then as I install them, move them to a folder called INSTALLED right on the desktop. If you find yourself running out of hard drive space, you could always burn a backup cd or dvd of the zip files, so that you're never at a loss. Of course sometimes you have to backup your back-ups, but you get the picture.
If you have reached the maximum allowed download for a particular file, then chances are, the download is still in your Internet Cache, if you haven't already cleared it out. All you have to do is copy over all of the files in your Temporary Internet Files folder to a regular folder, or at least the *.zip files, and look to see if it's there.
Hmm... see, i had everything in the plugin folder... but i simply uninstalled sim city 4.... is it like the same thing? could it still be somewere?
You should check your Plugins folder, located at C:\Users\"user_name_here"\Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins. I'm not sure if uninstalling actually deletes the files within that folder or not, as I've never had to re-install the game on the same machine.
