All of them are grown, except for the rose-orange corner building on the left in the second picture. The game wanted a Pussy Cleaners to grow there... None are photoshopped, except cropped to 800x500

Looking good N, though in Europe it isn't "allowed" to build freeways in the middle of historical centres ;D Love the Arch in the middle of roundabout, but build other areas more dense, there is too much open space in the blocks.

I'm actually planning to nix the monorail...  and replace it with the GLR in avenue. 

I had just explanded the monorail from the original...

This city was one of the originals that came with SC4 Deluxe (one of the tutorials).  It's been pretty fun to make a pre-made city into my own!

I would have shown more of this town that was supposed to be the capital of my MD region but unfortunately it is haunted by the prop pox. Whenever I reach a certain point, props are disappearing for good. These two pics are from the last sessions before the pox stroke again.  :'(

Very nice everybody.  On the first page there is a photo that has two identical buildings, but one of them has sheets covering the front of it like it's under construction or being fumugated.  Can someone tell me where to find that particular building?

I don't have any W2W's going on right now, well... Actually i thought I did until I saw some of the screenshots here then I realized what I had wasn't W2W but rather just some ploppable buildings put real close together else I'd show a screenshot but since I don't have any W2W I'll pass for now.

Nice shot Matt, I like the way you have the old with 60's modernish, it's very realistic, the planners were rather less caring of the built environment in those days, lol, otherwise much of the concrete brutalism that scars our cities would never have been allowed.

On this site (http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/files.php?cat=39) there are most Paris-BATs from Xannepan and Porkie modded as CS/R-Growables. The corner buildings have versions for left and right corners. As these buildings have French names, they can be used even if you can't speak German. ;D ;)

You've got a superb range of European residential bats, which give a very realistic touch to the city. The only thing i dislike in this magnific shots, is that all 10 rail lines disappear underground. It might look quite cool, but is it very realistic? I suppose it isn't. I know you have to clear most of a whole neighbourhood to get the room for the rail lines, but it might be worth it. After all, a nice well laid rail yard doesn't look that bad at all!

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but this is a custom BAT for myself. It was done by Glenni (who did an amazing job) for me so I was able to create Odessa, Ukraine. Those are the Potemkin Stairs, made famous by sergei Eisenstein's movie, the Battleship Potemkin. While the BAT is perfection, placing those things was hell  &mmm

Oh well... worth a shot!  I've always wanted some stone stairs like that, or even smaller ones, but yes, they'd be a bear to place!

That's an excellent stairway Yoman, it fits beautifully with the historic avenue and buildings and the statue looking out over the steps is a great setting, very European in style.

I am under the assumption that that "street" north of the Avenue is part of a lot.  I am curious to know if you created the lot or not.  If you have the textures you used to create that street, can you point out the IIDs for the Base and the Overlay texture used?  That is a street that looks like it should be able to make its way into the SAM one day.

I tried to make some repetitious neighbourhoods.
I need to say though that I made these quite a while ago when I hadn't downloaded many residential lots. Nowadays these kinds of developments are impossible to me. My neighbourhoods tend to grow in wild directions. Maybe I need to make a choice in my plugins.

But with Maxis you can do some nice things. I thought...

Yes, well, I tried to make a resemblance with late 19th century working class neighbourhoods like "De Pijp" in Amsterdam or "Het Nieuwe Westen" in Rotterdam.
And these neighbourhoods are in fact built on large scale although most people think the houses are built individually, because in facade detailing they show differences.

And about filling in here and there, let me tell you something: My Sc4 cities and villages are finished if or when I stop playing SC4 (in case that ever happens). If I don't work on a map it means it's on hiatus ... redoing an old map can be much of fun!

IRL cities don't stop to change unless they are dead. As long as you look at a map you'll find something to change or to improve. That's normal. Thats life.

Yeah, I don't play as much cause every time I fire it up I decide something needs to be changed so the "fill in the blank" looks better. Most of the mods and lots I do , like many come out of being slightly picky at how stuff looks together , so I end up spending more time in Photoshop and reader changing stuff! (Of course while I have photoshop open I occasionally think of a Ban pic  ;D ) Of course , the city I am working on has taken me over a year to get to this point because I am that darn picky!

well, I've only been to the UK a few times, but I think it resembles (what I remember of it) those high streets quite well. All I would do is use a better looking base texture ;)

On the other hand, i love the asphalt/concrete texture and spend a lot of time in LE changing lots from the fancy ones!

On the very first picture, how do you build that bridge across the railyard at the left? Is it the classic 'land bridge' trick with the rain mod? Because I don't see a lot of room for a small puddle there ;)

I think this is a regular elevated highway, connected to a ground highway via the diagonal on-slope puzzle pieces. :)

Maybe I expressed myself wrong. I actually meant the normal road bridge just below the diagonal highway crossing. It certainly isn't made out of puzzle pieces, it's a solid bridge I'd expect to see across water. I don't think the 'rain' tool trick was used there.

Your city perfores European style, of course. Only, if you wanted to build something from Eastern Europe, you should use blocks made from Pre-fabs (but not necessarily in centre  ;) )

but this is not a grown town, it is only an example for what is able with this set.
Now this are nearly thirty R§§ and CS§§ lots, but at least this set should be 60 growing lots and market, clinic, firestation, police, school and parks. Half the work is done, cause of this I posted these pictures to get some comments and criticism. The list of dependencies is horrible but needed. I show my lotediting stuff in SimForum, "Carls fatale Lotterstube". Everybody is sincere invited to look and ask, if there is some interest in these things.
The marketplace will be available soon as an upload from Alex Bervoets: he made this great bat of the markethall/Gent, Belgium. And I love his bats...  :thumbsup:

The street under the bridge a small lot editor trick, resize the lot, after the plopping.  :)

On some places they grow like nothing and on other places they won`t even grow after over hundred game-years...

This is around 2 years old but something I'm pretty proud of and hadn't shared here yet to my knowledge. It's not 100% wall to wall and a little photoshop, not to mention that I used the wrong people props here, but I'm pleased.
