Title: Dependency Problems
Post by: DFire870 on January 22, 2008, 07:06:04 PM
I recently re-downloaded my plugins and I've been having a problem with some of them.

First off, I have cycledogg's Meadowshire Coast Tree Controller installed, and for some reason many of the trees are showing up as missing. I have all of the dependencies (I checked, double-checked, and triple-checked), yet the trees from Jeronij and Ripptide are showing up as missing. Here are some pictures:

Also, on some of ks_jpn's ploppable lots, the actual buildings are missing (Marina Residence and 21st Century Tower), and I have all of his mega packs. What gives? ()what()

Can't really till what your missing but do you have "Jeronij Props Vol03 Plopable Trees and Seasonal woods.
Power search jeronij and go to page 3 on the LEX

Ah, thanks xxdita, I was missing some of those. But that didn't solve my problem. &mmm

I think I know what the problem is now, and it's related to the DatPacker. I split up my props folder into two separate folders (Props 1 and Props 2), and ran DatPacker on them. What I found is that Props 1 went through fine, but with Props 2, many of the files show up in the DatPacker window as being superseed, and this includes regular files such as SG's packs and ks_jpn's packs.

To make sure this was the problem, I moved some files to Props 1, and ran the datpacker... jeronij's folder was in Props 2 and I moved it to Props 1, ran datpacker and the game, and those trees showed up fine.

Can you please reisntall the bogus version of your folders and run without datpacking to see if you have the same problem ?

Nope, there are no problems when I put in the two unpacked props folders... All of the props on SG's lots and all of the trees show up fine. What's weird if that I've use this technique before and it worked fine, not sure why it would be doing it now.

Just want to be sure where is the bug

Yes I removed it and put the unpacked files back in, and it was fine.

I had the same problem after I re-organized my Plugins folder in 27 Folders (By letter of alphabet and one for everything starting with a number), uncompressed plugins fine not a brown box to be seen anywhere, after I had run DatPacker on the same files and opened up the same city, it was a sea of brown boxes.

After extensive checking of my Plugins folder I decided it was as a result of too much downloading on my part, for a start I had three sidewalks plugins in it, once I deleted two of them and went back into my city the number of brown boxes had reduced by at least 40%, then it was querying the rest of the boxes and doing some more deletions from my plugins folder, I still have the odd brown box appear, but I still haven't finished downloaded everything for the CAM as yet and I still have the odd missing dependency file.

But everything is now working great using DatPacker and is so much faster  &apls
