This will be my showcase here at SimCity4 Devotion.
I am working on some older European buildings for medium wealth CS. The idea was to make something that would look romanesque in style but these turned out to be of a later date and style.
Still some work to be done on these, and I am planning to make 4 more buildings to the set.

Nice to see you starting your own thread here
If there is something I can do to help you, just let me know ;D
hm,are those wooden? ???
Anyhoo,great work kwak!
kjempefint arbeid! ;D
great work . ;D
Looks great, from what I can see! Care to post some bigger pics? ;)
EDIT: pics fixed. Looks great!
Ah, yes sorry about the small pictures, something happend when I put them through photoshop and onto imageshack.
When I started out I could actually see what was in the pictures.
Glenni, no these are not wooden houses. Og takk for komplimentet
Cali and Jeronij thanks for your comments and if I need some help I will let you know.
Haha, ok because from that small pic they sorta looked like those old wooden houses at Bryggen in Bergen, guess i was wrong, lol :P
Wonderful european buildings!
Looks really nice. Cant wait for the bigger pictures.
Nice to see you "back at it!" Can't wait to see what you've got in store for us!!
Nice! I could use something like that in Schulmania!
Man, that is some amazing quality again... &apls
top werk!! &apls
Great job!! &apls
I love these, especially the way the roofs go "against the grain"...gives them character and adds depth to the game. The only thing that I would change is the texture nightlighting in favour of actual lighting, but that's my personal preference...I spend far too long nightlighting my BATs :(
These are super, kwakelaar. Look forward to seeing them in game
I agree with the previous posters ... great work Kwakelaar ...
looks really good.
Very nice stuff Kwakelaar. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the buildings in the set.
---Gaston
People, I am quite amazed by all your responses, I am not used to getting this much attention &blush
Glenni, Bryggen is not such a strange association, I have been thinking if I should try some of the buildings there.
Bat and Metasmurf thanks, and the pictures have been updated.
Cabrabuitre, very nice to see you here too.
Schulmanator and Fledder200 thanks for your comments
Sebes you are too kind and I am glad you have found your way to SC4D
Callagrafx, I prefer to use the nightwindows for most of my buildings when there is not much to see on the inside. The shopwindows on the groundfloor are however transparent and you should be able to see the different goods for sale. I don't care much for the nightlights and if it was just for me all my bats would be dark at night. I never use nightview in the game thus I will try to keep it as simple as possible. Though some of the most spectacular images of buildings (those from other batters that is) comes from the nightview, so I can understand that you spend a lot of time on making them.
Indeed there are not many of these kind of w2w buildings in the game yet.
Barby, Serkanner and Cali thanks for commenting
Gaston, thanks for stopping by and I am working on a corner building now.
You shouldn't be amazed: these buildings are very good and I look forward ti using them :)
You know, I have been using the 1100 AD Castle set for a while. I just realized that it came from you. It is great stuff! Thank you for making it! It is great for the historic towns I try to build.

Thanks for updating those pics! The buildings look lovely!
As for the lights, sometimes, you just have to keep them simple; that way, some of the more "special" buildings (landmarks, etc) will stand out more when set up among their less exceptionally lit, but still well done bretheren.
So, got an ETA on these? I have a few ideas of where to place em in my region. Keep up the great work, and I hope to see an update soon!
I love your BATs. I mix them in with MBEARs Mediterranean stuff. The colours blend well together. &apls
Serkanner will be making the lots for these bats and do any modding that he thinks is necassary.
He had started with making a lot for the Cafe Sobel, and from that came the idea to make some changes to the building. I will also do some props for a courtyard next to it.
Here is the almost finished BAT.

Mattb, thanks a lot you really are too generous.
DuskTrooper, thanks for your comment. No release date set for these yet. I saw you had started with some European looking cities with the buildings from Xannepan, very nice. Hopefully we can get these out soon enough for you to make use of them.
Schulmanator, I have had a look at your CJ and I really enjoy when someone else can use my bats.
Greenbelt, I think we maybe have a bit the same idea about what we like and he has shared quite readily some of his fantastic textures.
wow these are very nice work my friend
Whoa i love fake-terraced roof textures, i'm starting to get addicted to them :)
Here is an update on how things are going with these growables, the lots are not the final ones and also some of the models needs more work, mostly with the LODs and the nightlights.

And thanks to you too Villav, for making these excellent lots. I really love your way of using props. You have managed to capture just the kind of atmosphere I had in mind (or was hoping for to achive).
very good work...I particularly like the one with the car in the courtyard....great job to both of you, I'm plans for their use even as I write ;D
Hmmm, i really like these, some of also kinda look like the thouse houses at Bryggen in Bergen, only diff is that they are wooden, and not exactly level anymore if ya know what i mean
Hi kwakelaar:
I like these homes. They colors are earth toned but still cheery.

&apls, me also, it very nice, i like it, another lovely bâtiment whith a lot of "charm" bravo
These BATs are quite impressive and seem to be just what I'm looking for for a small little town I'm planning. One curiousity I do have though, is where the little pond in villaV's pic came from. Keep it up. It looks great so far.
Wow.
That is a beautiful building Kwakelaar.
I espescially like the rooftexture. It looks like glazed rooftiles. Is it going to be a commercial bat?
Strech?
@threestooges - the pond in VillaV's pictures was made from her textures. These are in BSC Textures Vol02.
That is a great bat with a great roof Gjermund. &apls
I just cannot read the name of the shop. What does it say?
That would be Bellinzi's leather, famous for their Italian design.

Thanks Vester :), but it's just a test town for my lots :D, but when i see this batiments, 5 minutes become 5 hours of game, it's possible to make so, with them, a pretty and romantic city. The roofs make also a lot of chams, Bravo Kwakelaar &apls
Like Vester I will say that you are the one making these bats come out looking their best.
I love your job you both &apls

And Bravo aussi à Villav $%Grinno$%
Great using of kwakelaar's wonderful buildings, villaV!
I love its like old Chartres city (France)! But in my game it's more difficult to grow!!!I do spend 11 4xxx inhabitants for looking your creations!!! :)But the work its very good!!!!!!!!!!!
I was wondering if you could help me. I have ben trying and trying to get your awesome new W2W lots to build in my cities. They just won't. I stayed up till 0215 this morning in a Simcityfest to try and coax something. Nothing! Would you consider releasing these as ploppables? My towns need these great lots and I will continue to have sleepless nights in front of the screen till they appear!
Thanks! You are awesome!! ;D ;D ;D
In first Schulmanator, escuses me for my bad english :D &ops
These shares are CS$$4 - also it's necessary to have at least 1114 residents for a luck of 1% of buildings of the floor 4. They as only push in the European buildings, you must have a a big commercial demande,
-choise european batiments
-lower taxes for the trade
-put of parks or places giving an attractive effect
-When they come, select batiment to classed
I was made that, and i have a lot of it
I hope that help you, perheaps ;), somebody know another thing ::)

Oh yeah. Here's the radical way of doing it ;D
Get this mod, http://host.simvision.net/SC4ExtraCheats.zip put it in directly in your My Documents\Sim City 4\Plugins directory. Don't put into a sub-folder because then it wont work
Next, get into the game, press ctrl+x , then rightclick, select buildingplop and press enter. Now a box will appear
Then scroll down the list to the letter K. There you'll find several lots named KWK. It shoud look like this
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg469.imageshack.us%2Fimg469%2F1281%2F13419371bk2.jpg&hash=69de3e97e7f266399bf932b2e9fb401b4a828906)
When you've selected the lot you want to plop, press the X on the box to close it down, now another box should appear, like this
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg511.imageshack.us%2Fimg511%2F2%2F46920808yn0.jpg&hash=1abefe7f5ad58eb0a06cc21474b6a201595efdf6)
Then, close that box and you will be able to plop the lot, no pre-zoning nessecary
This might seem complicated but actually it's ALOT faster then waiting for the right building to grow. It should take like 5 minutes to get an area covered with kwk's buildings.
Metasmurf, it's a very good MOD...Tomorrow i'll try that!!Thank you very much!!!Thank you!! ;)
Thank you metasmurf ;)
I knew this solution but I didn't know or one could download the file $%Grinno$%, I only serve of it to me since very a short time. In all my first photos shares came all lonely. For the last shares I served it, because they are not finished and it's easy for testing it, but on the game i like dificulty :-[ I'm e litle crazy :D ?=mad)=
Metasmurf-- Thanks a LOT!! I will try that out. My life will be SO MUCH BETTER! &apls
VillaV -- Merci mille fois aussi! Vos batiments son parfaits! Je vais travailler avec mes villes... je suis tres heureux! ;D &apls
Merci Schulmanator, but it's Kwakelaar who make very nice and romantic BAT, i just make decoration, and it's a pleasure , like playing with their :D
Thank you for words in French ;)
you both make an excellent job, Domie ;) I hope to see more :D
Arf!!!The MOD don't work in my game!! :'( I don't put on sub folder....It's a dll's fil? It's that? ()what()
-liste s'ouvre
-clique LotPop (Pas AllPop atention)
:thumbsdown:Bref sorry fo KWK because we squat the topic!! $%Grinno$%
No problem, and thanks VillaV :)
Please, next time use our French subsections ;)
Thank you for your indulgenge kwakelaar ;)the French are talkative :Despecially if they like your buildings :D
You are right Wouanagaine, i'm sorry &ops, i wrote here because, i didn't know under what French category subsections how to answer to him, and while thinking, i will have to make it a MP, escuses-me :'(
I have started on a new project. It will be a high wealth residential in a w2w setting to start with, later I will probably make another version for a more rural setting.
The original is called Stechinelli Haus in the German city of Celle. It is a late 18th century building built for , I belive a merchant family. I am not making an exact replica just using it for inspiration.
This is what I have got so far.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg401.imageshack.us%2Fimg401%2F1417%2Fstechinellihaus1no3.jpg&hash=41e3ff45dc44e873dd399f2dcb076265fa784e26)
That is looking very sharp Kwakelaar.
I like it already :)
I very much like the tympanon. we have to few of those in SC4.
Strechnitz
Uhhh, I love this! Very good choice of a building
Will be a most welcome addition to my cities :)
EDIT1: BTW, indeed it looks very much like a merchant family's house of that era; also the gate on the right - to a backyard maybe - indicates this as behind could have been some stabling and/or some storage room as well.
EDIT2: What I also very much like (and indicates that the former owner must have been at least of quite high wealth) is its palace-like look. In german we have an extra word for it: Immediatbau. Unfortuatly I'm not aware of any translations of it :(
Such Immediatbauten (plural) were espacially quite common in the late 18th century Berlin, when Friedrich II. planned his Forum Fridericianum (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forum_Fridericianum) and Unter den Linden.
New building is looking too good

Lovely, Kwakelaar. This will be an interesting European building.
Yes I do have to agree, this is a very lovely building. Great start.
What does this reminds me of ?
Ahh. Now I remember, a city outside Berlin called Pottsdam. Its were the German King had his castle.
It has a very nice w2w center two stories high. I was there together with Lars.

Yes, good thought, though most the buildings there had lighter and brighter colours if I remember correctly ... and most were rather of baroque or at least a more decorated classicism style while this house has a very clean facace (which I like very very much)... oh... and it wasn't the german, but the prussian king... small but important difference $%Grinno$%
Very promising start ... This will be especially welcome as w2w high wealth residential buildings are so rare.
Gjermund what a great start. This will be a great looking bat for sure in many MD's
Building is nearing completion, here are some shots from the Stechinelli Haus in a w2w surrounding.

Thanks a lot for your kind comments, Hubert, Lars, Bengt, Tage, Barby, Arne, Zero7 and Sebes
Lars; Immediatbau, I have never heard about it, but I like the picture from Forum Fridericianum.
There is onley one word to describe this house Kwakelaar.
Regal!
It has turned out very well and I espescialy like the light Mansard roof.
I have never heard of the term immediatbau either.
BTW, does this mean you are tempted to bat the Forum Fredericianum Kwakelaar ? ;)
Srechnitz.
wonderful! your Germanic buildings have made my cities look brilliant, I can't wait for this new one to be released :)
Ooh! Excellent building kwakelaar &apls I've still work to do if I want to become as good as you.
Wonderful progress there, my friend &apls
I've been checking my architecture lexicon, here a translation of what it says about Immediatbauten:
-Residental buildings for gentry, public servants, victualers and soldiers that were build in context to the absolutistic city plannings in the 17th and 18th century. They were paid by the "ruler"(in Berlin's case the Prussian King) and built to complete the uniform planned city expansions of the residence cities. Usually rented out.
Though, I still can't find an english expression for it &mmm

I do see the difference in style, butl I wasn't thinking of the style, but more the project we talked about then.

I see - indeed from that point of view that's quite similar stuff that could fit this building :)
Am I missing something here?
Very nice!!
Next version of this building. The lot is just a try out, and there are a few things still on the models I need to change.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg237.imageshack.us%2Fimg237%2F9030%2Fstechinellihaus7qq6.jpg&hash=8a0e9d686235d18e677538e8a22c6e679d3af796)
And thanks Lars for clearing that up.
Bengt, you are already there.
The models look great Kwakelaar! It reminds me of those expensive residential estates the wealthy Dutch build in our Golden Era ( 17th Century ) all over the country. A lot of the names of those estates are names given to neighbourhoods, industrial and business area's nowadays.
That looks excellent, Kwakelaar, and very Germanic.
Even if this is just a try out, a great idea and wonderful execution already
Oh, those fences are the best :P Whole building, lot is awesome but I just love those fences. Great work again kwakelaar &apls
beautiful buildings kwakelaar, great work &apls
I can just second Lars and Barby. Loooking goooood.
Love the fences as well ;) maybe a yellow version of them would look better, though. But I like more the smaller buildings around the main house, specially the back one.
Wow, that looks sweet Kwak!Would fit nicely in the villa areas of my MD... ;D
It's a thing of beauty! ;D
&apls Wow . Beautiful, just beautiful
It seems that the Baroque theme suits you fine Kwakelaar. :)
This version of the building is very well done. The compositon of the main building and the way they coincide with the smallere buildings I guess couchhouse and orangerie/wintergarden (?) are just great. the only thing I would change myself on the models is the front steps of the chateau. they are broad enough, but I would make them a bit deeper. they are a bit narrow now compared to the length in my opinion. But otherwise it is a super looking set of buildings.
Are you planning to make more lovely versions?
take care,
Hubert.
Thanks for your kind replies.
Bengt, those fences are from Debussyman as you might understand (or maybe not) from his comment. And they are great fences indeed.
Strechnitz, good suggestion, is on my to do list now.
Here is the third version of this building, so far only the main building is nearing completion. I will make this for a rural setting.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg251.imageshack.us%2Fimg251%2F4489%2Fstechinellihaus8cx8.jpg&hash=b163bcda82e0e453afcb4ee2660f3760d1c77265)
Oh yeah baby, keep'em coming :P &apls
They keep getting better and better (and bigger?).
Again this version is looking very good. an ideal baroque country seat of some baron or other. the extra floor adds a great deal of character and grandeur.
And as with the 2 previous versions, I can't wait to put my hands on these once you release them. :) perhaps a little round/eight sided gardenpavillion with similar stuco and a dome with similar rooftiles would be a nice addition to this very elegant chateau.
great job.
Strechnitz.
Waaaaaaaoooooooooooow!!!!It's so wonderful!!!I like it!!! ;) &apls
Very nice! I particularly like the ones with the black roof texture.
I could probably gerrymander those props into some sort of college/university campus, especially in combination with some other existing props like Haarlemmergold's dutch buildings.
Great job man!!I ve already download you bats!!Thanks! &apls
Looking good, however I like the second to last version better than the last one, but that´s just my oppinion.
Perhaps a version with the steps from the last version combined with the front from the blackroofed version could look good?
It´s looking good either way, but the blackroofed version looks better in my taste.
It feels like this complex could be useful as mayor residence as well.
This is a new palace that I have started working on. Again I will make some farm buildings to go with the main house.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg150.imageshack.us%2Fimg150%2F9127%2Fseuslitzpalace1tz9.jpg&hash=7d8974bd9c50e3b9d12f498f101de3d8444e6232)
The previous bats are now all on the LEX. The prop pack contains different pieces for those of you who would like to make another version of either the Carolath or the Kolhof palace.
Adept2Rock I like your enthusiasm :D
Swesim, thanks for your suggestions, but the models are finished now and I will not change them any more. And I agree, I like the black roofed version the most myself as well.
Dusktrooper, gerrymander?
Strechnitz, I think there are enough pieces in the prop pack so you can make something to your own liking. Garden pavillion... might try that for another palace.
Oooh! This is gonna be better than others &apls And thank you for that picture, gives help to me when making similar roofs :)
I just wanted to let you know that I'm very thankful for all your bats kwakelaar! Everything is pure eye-candy and can easily be placed in any (European) city. Awesome work, I don't know what my cities would look like without you :D
And that 1st pic of the palace looks great, maybe if I look real hard I will see our Queen Beatrix staring out the window :)
This looks good, K.
Maybe you could do a city version of it.
Together with your recent releases, I came to think of the Odd Fellow House in Copenhagen:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg140.imageshack.us%2Fimg140%2F5363%2Fimageyr4.jpg&hash=786c8bd8d50c8d059f3dfd67425d289cc56016b0)
This is an old drawing, but it gives a good idea how it looks toady:

and one from Google:

Maybe we could do without the parking :P
It's not my fault if you are a great Bater!!!Yeah i like your BATS!!So wonderful and in France there are the same!! ;)
Side question: is that your car in the pic, Vester?
No that is not my car $%Grinno$% :P
Mine is of a newer date, and btw that is not my picture.
Wonderful BATs. I sincerly hope that you continue to keep with this slightly forgotten architectural nitch. Keep up the good work.
Yeah More baroque!! pure bliss!
A great new project I see, good luck Kwakelaar.
QuoteI think there are enough pieces in the prop pack so you can make something to your own liking.
There is! they are! Thanks! ;D
I absolutely love every bit of them. You know that ever since your first upload, you are my favorite puzzlepiece maker ;) And I have taken your suggestion at heart and have made a few baroque palaces of my own. Including an enormous one which I'll show you in a PM. because I don't want the general public to know it...yet.
the lots and gardens still need some finetuning but these pics give you a good idea of how happy I am withyour wonderfull new work :)

These two represent Strasslov palace. the summer residence of (your future sugaraunty?) Lady Ottoline von Strasslomirov. (16x10 tiles) ;D

And these three are a palace that as yet has no distinct name or use apart from being a great fun to assemble with your palace pieces.
BTW the floral scrolls made by D66 are great to. they are wonderfull to assemble into complex knot patterns for the gardens.
Amazing models and an absolutely amazing flora! Congrats to D66 for this masterpiece.
Strechnitz, you have really out done yourself with these combinations, quite a few there I would never have come up with myself, and indeed for floral arrangements D66 is the best.
There will be more to come by the way.
Vester, that is a very nice building, could be something to use for a city palace. Thanks for posting the pictures.
And at the end of the Sunday the building is almost finished.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg20.imageshack.us%2Fimg20%2F4980%2Fseuslitzpalace2tp9.jpg&hash=75d4071bda013d707f68b7a9c04aa935235fcb7d)
This is looking very nice!
Beautiful work. Simply beautiful. :)
Sweet Lord!!! While I haven't reached this particular sites downloads yet, I can tell by looking at some screens here and there that I'm up for a great journey eventually! You have some truly amazing stuff here, Kwakelaar!
Amazing, it would work in both worlds, rural and urban. A wonderful companion to the (hopefully ongoing?) neoclassical spree. Best of best of luck on all of your lots.
